E3 2014 Awards: Best Sports Game

The FIFA series has generally been the winner of our Best Sports Game award at previous E3s, but Electronic Arts has taken its ice hockey franchise to a whole new level this year with NHL 15.

The visual enhancements are immediately apparent with striking player likenesses, detailed arenas, and a level of presentation that captures that whole NBC Sports atmosphere. Essentially, it’s like watching the game on your T.V. set.

It’s the tweaks to the gameplay that really gets us excited though. The real-world physics on the ice captures the hard-hitting impact of fast and furious battles as players collide and battle for the puck as if their lives depend on it. With major control scheme enhancements to the skill stick, players will also have more control over the puck to create those killers passes and dekes.

No doubt about it, NHL 15 is set to be the most slickly produced and explosive entry in the series so far.
