E3 2014 Awards: Best Shooter

As ever, we gamers are spoiled for choice when it comes to shooters. We’ve got war re-enactments, space-orientated blasters, and Victorian-esque period pieces, but few offer the sheer scale and choice so readily available in the Ubisoft-developed Far Cry series. And that’s exactly why Far Cry 4 – with its refinement and diversity to boot – takes its rightful place atop our ‘Best Shooter at E3’ category.

Blowing minds with both a story and gameplay reveal at this week’s E3, Far Cry 4 went a great distance in displaying just how to merge refreshingly dynamic open-world gameplay with a deep and involving narrative; a combination not readily seen in gaming that often – plus you get to ride elephants, which is a feat in itself.

With a release date set for November 18, Far Cry 4 is shaping up to be the go-to open-world shooter this holiday season, delivering an enticing narrative interlaced with some of the best gameplay mechanics on offer from the gaming world today.
