Valve says "50-50" chance of Left 4 Dead on PS3

Valve Software’s Doug Lombardi has said that there is a “50-50” chance of upcoming zombie title Left 4 Dead appearing on Sony’s PlayStation 3 console.
Speaking with CVG, Lombardi hinted that the company might evaluate opportunities on the platform following its high performance at retail over the past few months.
“We're always evaluating what's happening in the marketplace and certainly something that's happening in the last couple of months is that Sony's managed to sell some boxes," he said.
"So whether or not you like developing for that platform, if they've got millions of people connected to that platform and buying their games you have to take it seriously."
When asked on the possibility of Left 4 Dead coming to PS3, Lombardi replied: "50-50 right now.”
"There's zero chance of it happening this year. It's something that's being talked about right now as the game is gaining popularity and looking like it's going to be a hit."

who cares? obviously the ps3 is too complicated for valve's crap programmers so they can get bent. i'll never buy a game from them ever. not only can't they program, but they also have very poor business sense. even if you think that a platform may be hard to program for, you don't bash it and alienate a potential market. horrible company.

Money talks and all of Gabe's buIIshlt walks. Too bad for that jerk the PS3 community has a good memory of everything he said ("PS3 is a disaster" and "PS3 is a waste of time").
When the PS3 gains more steam and becomes the main-player in the console war, fans will boycott Valve games, they'll lose money, and Gabe will be given his walking papers.

EA: Seeing as we now own Valve you'll be making PS3 games.

EA: Yes... seeing as there's no pirating on that platform and it's currently the biggest money maker we have right now.

EA: No buts you'll be making left4dead for the PS3, shame it can't be released solely on that platform so we can make even more cash.

I don't know how Valve guys didn't think PS3 wasn't going to sell. I know they stated they thought the architecture of PS3 was tough but they trash the system without really trying to wrap their minds around Sony vision. I say if they put out some mediocre port of 360/PC then they can keep it. Many developers have stated it's best to go from PS3-->360/PC not other way around. Even though EA did Half Life. L4D may just wind up being worst than Half Life. Just don't do us any favors give us a worthy L4D or just leave it alone.

I think this is hilarious, but who didn't see it coming? ANY company can't afford to ignore a significant base when it comes to their sales. it's unfortunate some of their members have made dumb comments in the past about different platforms that they then end up having to support. Oh well, we'll see where it goes. Frankly, the more developers the better. Let's just hope than ANY efforts from ANY company go towards quality!

I just have to add this is insane. Gabe just ripped PS3 apart like he was some kind of Microsoft fanboy. Being a game developer you have to wonder where his head was. You in a position to make money either way rather it's Wii. 360 or your most hated PS3 and you trash it. I'm glad Gabe thinks Valve is so succesful they can ignore PS3 install base. If I own a 360 or was still into PC games. I would ripped the crap out of Half Life and L4D just to stick it to them. 20 Million sold on 360 and 15.4 million on PS3 you damn right it's a 50-50 chance it coming to PS3. More like a 99-1 percent chance it is coming.

This game is gonna sell so badly on the xbox360, that they wont have any choice but to make a PS3 version. When I saw them play the demo for this game at E3. I thought I was looking at a PS2 game.

I dont really care what they have said about Ps3, or mainly gabe. If they can do this game for Ps3, I dont see whats bad about that. And if they manage to make it good I might even consider buying it.
Having the powerfull PC fps developers to strenghten the game ammount is no way a bad thing even tough theres a rough ammount of competition on that area. But games like Portal are needed to push the industry foward.
I am not fanboy enough to ignore good games just because the company has ignored Ps3 before. Instead I welcome them with open arms as long as the game is good.

yeah i'm with viperseven here. it's the game we should focus on. and as i've said before, one more 360/PC exclusive coming to ps3 is always a good thing. i don't like valve, but i do like zombie games.

ea owns valve. ea makes more money off ps3 games than xbox360 games. 100% chance of left for dead on ps3. this is just ea putting it's b!tch in check. look for valve to support ps3 directly in the near future.
number 23 also gets the whole picture :)
