Now that we’re approaching the dawn of the next-generation of console, we’d love to see Sony developers follow in the footsteps of other videogame giants and offer a range of Humble Bundle’s that cater for PlayStation gamers.
If you don’t already know, Humble Bundles are collections of games given away at a snippet of the original price with some of the proceeds going to charities like Child’s Play. Every couple of weeks, developers offer a handful of games and adopt a pay-what-you-want model.
The latest developer to offer a bundle is Electronic Art’s with the Origin Humble Bundle. Gamers can pay exactly what they want for a host of titles in one pack including Medal of Honor, Mirror's Edge and Dead Space 3. We’re hoping this is just the start and more of the bigger developers step forward to giveaway inviting bundles.
The Origin Humble Bundle
So far, Humble Bundles have only been offered on PC and Android titles but PlayStation developers could follow suit if Sony back it. There could be a Rockstar week, with Grand Theft Auto IV, Max Payne 3, Red Dead and LA Noire, or a Ubisoft week with an Assassin’s Creed bundle? Indie developers could get their wares out there. How about a Ripstone bundle with the likes of Knytt Underground, Big Sky Infinity and Men’s Room Mayhem? There are plenty of indie developers out there who have created three or more titles that could be bunched together.
The big question is: would Sony ever back this sort of move when it has its own platform in the form of the PlayStation Store to offer deals on? Sadly, probably not, especially now it’s pushing PlayStation Plus even further and will want to keep the best deals for subscribers.
