Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healey has admitted to Eurogamer that LittleBigPlanet's 2.5D controls "annoy" him, but has promised to patch the issue post-release.
Those who've played the beta (lucky devils) will know that the game occasionally struggles to distinguish between its three movement planes.
"The Z [axis] movement is an incredibly hard thing for us to get right," Healey said. "There's times when it annoys me actually, but we can work on that if we want, and refine it. But on the whole, we got to a good place with it I think, because we wanted to cater for my mother and someone that's a hardcore player, so it was hard to get the balance there."
"There's definitely room for improvement and we've got the channel to be able to do that as well," he went on. "I'd really love to be able to do backflips and all kinds of things with my Sackboy, and there's no reason why we can't add that and refine that."
Given the truly unprecedented levels of hype surrounding Media Molecule's highly sociable platformer, it's nice to see the developer coming clean on the niggles. And trust us - they're no more than niggles.
LittleBigPlanet will be lighting up your PlayStation 3 on October 24.

heh firts again, still cant wait for this game, cant belive its so close already
The game is pure ownage :) Loving it
i found the jumping really annoying
niggles?
Control is a very delicated issue. Bad/annoying controls can certainly ruin a great game... I was decided on buying it at release, but the co-founder developer saying that is somehow frustrating. Frustrating enough to make me reconsider to wait for reviews.
something i just thought about, how did that dev get motars on his sackboy, when the only thing you can put on them are sticker objects
@ 4 : www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/niggle
lbp has had 2 reveiws both 10/10
I was beginning to wonder if i was the only one who was annoyed by the whole "3 layered movement" thing. it's great news to hear that the CO-FOUNDER also feels this way and hopes to fix it.
21 oct is my freakin Bday and the day that lbp is released
i cant wait to get my hands on this little sweet sackboy
I'M IN THE BETA!!!!!!!!! :-D and yea the Z plane is a little bit hard to get the hang of, I am starting to think they should have waited for a while to perfect that and stick with the X and Y plane only. This is already such a breakthrough of a game, so maybe the Z plane should have been LBP2? haha
I agree it's broken - not only the 2.5D, but for a platformer, the jumping is nowhere near as accurate and fluid as it should be. I get the impression that this has been developed as a "design-em-up" first, and "game" second.
The beta is fun its gets annoying with the controls but i still have tons of fun playing the game. it takes getting used to after a while its not too bad
whats annoying me is the create a level as it just takes two long and is too bugged with things taking ages to tweak so they dont just destroy themselves or just stick themselves they should be stuck to and things deleting themselves. apart from this gamepaly floorless!. lloknig more forward to fallliut 3 tho :)
i got the beta code last night and i played all the available courses but to be honest the game is overhyped....thats just my opinion...was considering it but now i changed my mind completely
I have a LittleBigPenis!
Kinda like how Echochrome was ruined by the controls.. I sure hope LBP is still playable or at least that the fix won't take long.
i haven't had any problems with the controls myself, but i have heard of some people having a little trouble, improvement is always good, I LOVE THIS GAME!
how bout a z-axis sensittivity, sometimes you press back an sackguy moves, others you have to jump, i agree really annoying
yeah, the controls are pretty saucy. my main issue is the camera control. since we are networking, my view should be focused on my character and independent of the other players.
@15
You shoudl go play user generated levels. You never know what you're getting. But I agree it's overhyped, but still awesome.
lol some people are weird... the game is awesome and yes the control sometimes is messep up but it dosnt change all the fun you can have with the game
I found the controls quite simple really, dont know why people have to fuss.
Release date is almost close just over 2 weeks
psn id: gingo.... i can see this game getting a lot of patches, not because the game is broke but just because Media Molecule wont stand for anything less than perfect and they want to make it the best experience ever
this really isn't a problem for me since it will be fixed. I hope they do that soon enough.

I agree. All they need to do is make it so when you jump you don't automatically jump back a plane. It's not that hard to hit jump and up on the controll stick. Also I wish we could have 180 degree camera controll so you can look directly behind sackboy or directly in front of him. Backflips would be a nice bonus too!
I had no problems with the controls in the beta...
I have had a few issues with the controls in the beta, but it's not enough to make me want to not buy the game as soon as it comes out. Most of it is in the create mode and not the actual gameplay. It's not that big of a problem I thought. I have had the game freeze up and crash a few times, and the server was down a few hours the other day, but hopefully they'll work out those bugs before release. The biggest issue I have is when I put something down, say a emmiter, and you hold down on the button to also tweek it, it doesn't save your settings. You have to go out and get the popit cursor to tweek it so it will save. Also, gluing objects together is cab be very buggy. Usually it's trying to glue those really thin pieces to a piece in the front, or behind them is where I have the most problem. Of course, betas always have their little glitches...that's why they're betas. The only gameplay thing I wish was different was searching for maps. I know that they wanted to have it look different and I'm not saying they should get rid of it all together, but they should have a setting where you can go through different maps on a ordinary list without having to look on a globe to find something. Even if they released this game with the bugs I've seen in the beta, I would still happily pay $60 for it and am going to get it on day one. I think I might also pick up a PS Eye and might actaully consider that little keyboard thing that fits on your controller. I hate using the built in PS virtual keyboard where you have to thumb all the letters witht the joystick. All in all, I wouldn't let something like this "buggy" controls thing scare you away from a day one purchase. Even if they do fix them later on, you can still have boatloads of fun until then.
3 axis'? This is news to me O_o
This game is so good. I just wish I could rotate the camera a little while creating levels, that would make the game 10x better. This game is really good. Better than I thought it would be. It is a 1st day pick up, but I want Fallout 3 just a tad more. I was hyped as **** for Fallout 3 and was not interested in LBP at all, then I got into the beta and it is almost my number 1 game. Now that is saying something. This game is really really good.
I am in the beta too, and that would be a good thing to fix. Adding flips to sackboyz would just make it that much funner. Add it Media Molecule add it!
13 more days, awesome. I can hardly wait
