In another creative coup for its next generation Xbox platform, Microsoft today announced that esteemed videogame developers Yoshiki Okamoto, President & CEO of Game Republic, Inc., and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Creator and Co-founder, Q Entertainment Inc. have aligned with Microsoft Game Studios to develop exclusive next-generation Xbox games. The announcement comes on the heels of last week's news that video game legend Hironobu Sakaguchi, president of Mistwalker game studio, has joined with Microsoft Game Studios to develop role-playing games exclusively for the next-generation Xbox platform.
For more than 20 years, Okamoto has been thrilling gamers with franchises like Street Fighter and Resident Evil. Widely considered an industry pioneer, Okamoto is best known for his ability to conceive and drive completely new game genres.
In July 2003, he founded Game Republic, where he and his team have next generation Xbox exclusive titles currently in development.
"My goal in creating these games is to make completely fresh and riveting experiences that gamers have never had before," said Okamoto. "With the next-generation Xbox platform, I can turn this vision into a reality." Mizuguchi, who founded Q Entertainment in 2003, is the creative force behind a litany of innovative blockbusters including SEGA Rally Championship, Rez and Space Channel 5. Gamers worldwide have long been attracted to Mizugchi's distinctive style that blends music and action.
"By combining various factors, including exciting storylines, action, graphics and music, I've created video games that have brought gamers the ultimate fun in gaming," said Mizuguchi. "Now, I hope to create games that will give gamers the most emotional and thrilling gaming experience possible - joy, thrills, sympathy and speed. The power and advanced technologies of the next-generation Xbox platform will enable winning games with powerful emotions, high-quality graphics and sound."
The addition of Mizuguchi and Okamoto further reveals Microsoft's strategy for attracting Japanese gamers. Perhaps more importantly, it underscores a growing preference among the world's most talented game developers for the next generation Xbox platform. Last week, the company announced that Mistwalker, a studio run by the legendary Hironobu Sakaguchi, will develop two exclusive titles for Microsoft.
"We are excited for Mizuguchi-san and Okamoto-san to develop next generation Xbox games unlike anything the world has ever seen," said Peter Moore, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Publishing. "Gamers will be riveted by the experiences enabled by such creators when given the proper canvas and tools."

Well, that's it for Sony. Might as well call it quits.
Ahh, your dry wit is truly delightful. Please, go on...
My favorite part...
"Gamers will be riveted by the experiences enabled by such creators when given the proper canvas and tools."
A not so subtle stab of who is right and who is wrong to develop for. Statements like this are what makes the PR department at SONY start scream swears and starting fights with MS PR people in the parking lot.
lmao, you make riverting suggestions about punch ups there brilliant.
I think this is happening because all of these japense
devolpers saw the xbox 2 specs and they saw a few demos runing on it.
and the 2 thing is that they saw the ps3 specs and a few demos
runing on that also. and may be they think that the ps3 will not
be easy to program for. because of the cell.
This could turn out to be a big blow to Sony IF those devs actually produce some decent games. If not, they'll just be empty names. On another note, If XBox 2 is to be released in US about 6 months before the Japanese release of the PS3, would the PS3 be out in Japan before XBox 2 gets to Japan? If this happens, then XBox is going to have a really tough fight with PS3, even if it had the support of these Japanese firms.

Well, that's it for Sony. Might as well call it quits.
Please explain.....for one it does not say all japan game companies will go with MS...and it ALSO doesn't mean that all game developers are from japan....just by saying that MS has a few game developers on there belt doesn't mean anything.....Resident Evil has done in the past develope for all consoles...though not alot of people played it after #4...The Online play only gave a few hours of enjoyment...Not to mention but Sony is stilll VERY competitive with game developers...Square Enix is still backing sony along with other damn good developers....the only reason that those companies jumped over to MS sooo quickly is because it is going to be the first to come out...all those companies are thinking about is the money and not the gamer....once they relise what a foolish move they have made they will be crying.... My last statement involves Sony's hardware still beating MS's by 2 fold....processing speeds of the PS3 could and probably will be faster then XB2. Its just that XB2 can make games easier doesn't mean that all compaines will jump right on there Band Wagon, once the PS3 is configured to the liking of the developer's the compaines that decided to split from sony inc. will be once again crying.
All in all, these statements are just IMHO.

I guess that we'll just have to wait till the "Official Specs" come out to declare what is faster...but at this stand point the PS3 is looking far better then the Next Box. Just at this stand point as of right now PS3 is looking better. About the 1.2 times the power, this is just involving the cell, now we don't know what the Blu-Ray disc's will contribute to this but I believe that they will make this run at top proformance. Another bad fault about the Next Box is that is can't be backwards compatiable, since there would then become a huge law suit including NVIDA's company, since now that sony is working with them. Also we have heard that they won't be adding backwards compatiable, making the Next Box/Xenon/Xbox2/Xbox 360 less appealing to the gamer.

hehe it just keeps adding up on the xbox side.
these guys have actually been signed onto making xbox 2 games for a while.
this is part of the MS marketing strategy. They are letting names leak out little by little to develop hype that the japanese are switching over to xbox suddenly for reasons that they found the xbox to be a better console.
should expect more names to be announced in the future 8)
btw im just loving the tension between MS and sony. this next generation could be the best generation in gaming ever. :D
The unfortunate fact is that this will only be the best generation ever for those that are willing to accept that both consoles will be great.
Anyone who refuses to buy one or the other console is going to miss out on so much, I will feel extremely sorry for them.
I hear what microsoft is doing to get ready for next generation but I don't hear much from Sony. I havent heard about them getting any great developers or anything so I am starting to questions how willing sony is to win next generation and how much effort there willing on putting into it

Its because sony is keeping a "Super Tight Lid" on things...We'll will probably get most of this information at ether whenever they show the system (Possibly GDC) if not we can wait till E3

Sonys strategy is to blow the lid on things all at once. This explosive strategy generates alot of hype very quickly that spreads fast but only allows the buzz to build from one point of time that without further stimulation can die out as quickly as it started.
The only flaw in that logic is that they have been gradually releasing info on the Cell chip mainly to generate PS3 hype. I am sure they are going to show the real dirt all a once in a splash, but they have already been slowing letting stuff out.

well yeah. cell chip has been talked about for a while now but we really dont know that much more than we did last year. This information was let out to affirm the fact that Sony is working on the next playstation. If they took this strategy exactly, we wouldnt even know that sony was planning anouther console. Everybody would assume something is wrong in Sony ammidst all of the Xbox successor news.
Except for the fact that at E3 last year Sony spent 1/3rd of their main presentation at the Video Games convention talking about the Cell Chip and how it would bring about "Cyber World" So it is pretty obvous that talk about the Cell Chip is directly related to the PS3
Cyber world is another thing... They've spent quite a bit of time touting this "cyber" world, but then again, they also did say PS2 would revolutionize Online gaming... Did it really? Not really. I'm curious to see how this "cyber world" plays out.
My understanding is that they have taken a step back from their original plans for "Cyber World", but still will be building something interesting.
I hear that Square-Enix is actually involved in creating the Avatar system for it.

Interesting... I've never heard about this. A brief explanation, please?
Nothing solid, but basically from what I hear: "Cyber World" would basically like what you see in the "Matrix". Players could enter this "cyber world" and interact with other people... A more immediate example would be something like Megaman Battle Network, except the other people you battle would be other "players" around the world.

so basically xbox live???

doesnt sound like anything really revolutionary. sounds to me like a new marketing name for sony online with simmilar features as xbox live.
if square-enix is involved it will probably build off of their playonline system

yeah this is already being done on Xbox.. aka Xbox Live. Thats the sole reason im buying Xbox2.
so basically xbox live??? No. Far from it. Think Megaman Battle Network... If that's too childish, think FFXII. Except there probably won't be too much battling and leveling up. I dunno, from the sounds of it, you'll actually be able to "walk around" in this "Cyber World" instead of just being a "avatar" in a chatroom-like scenario.
yeah this is already being done on Xbox.. aka Xbox Live. Thats the sole reason im buying Xbox2. Now you're simply being biased. We don't even know what it is, how do you know this is already done on XBox Live :??

I was referring to the getting in the system and talking to anyone from around the world and joining up in any game.
and never played megaman battle network, nor ffxii, but you could say this has already been done in a small way.. if you have xbox and xbox live.. buy a game called PSO and you can have your own character and there will be certain ships you can jump to and there will be other people in that ship that you can actually see and stuff then you can make a room.. so this was already done in a small way.
