I dont know if anybody would know what im talking about or agree with me here but i think digital anvil should develop Freelancer 2 as a xenon launch game, or at least as a xenon game as Freelancer was such a cool game, it pure terms of shooting spaceships and stuff it wasn’t necessarily the best but the experience as a whole was so polished and so enticing. it had a great story (in my opinion) etc etc
its sales for the pc were rather disappointing but it might get a bit more recognition if it came as a xenon launch game
maybe a lot of people would disagree with me on this but its just my opinion

siren do you know of any easy way to find out what the sales figures for it were? im just curious
and on average under what conditions is it necessary for MGS to make a sequel to a game? like how many sales would the original have to get etc etc
I do not have access to PC game sales information. So unfortunately I can't say.
Generally speaking most game companies (not just Microsoft) won't make a sequal unless a game sells at least 200k copies. this is pretty much the break point for profitability.
The exception is games designed with Sequals in mind, where it requires significantly less investment in order produce the sequal. An example of this would be Dungeon Seige where the game engine in the original was capable of what you are seeing in #2. They wrote it with the future in mind. This greatly reduced the cost of Dungeon Siege II's development.
Is there a sequal in the works? Don't really know. I kinda doubt it though. Overall it didn't really get any press and while it has a somewhat loyal following lacks the spark that begs a sequal. To top it off, it's server side code was trash and one of the most exploitable online games in ages.
Taking things a step further, if they were to port it to the Xbox2, it would require a complete rework of the game engine. It was really built around mouse control which doesn't translate all that well into controller. It can be done, but once again, would they be able to guarentee enough sales considering the expense involved.

Will put the other articles and this one up when I'm done writing.
While the delay of the PLAYSTATION 3's launch in PAL regions have left many gamers disappointed, Sony's Michael Ephraim remains optimistic. During an interview with GameSpot, the Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand managing director pointed out that although the console's launch has been pushed back, no retailers have canceled pre-orders.
Ephraim believes that Sony will still win in the long-run and that the delay was just a minor bump in the road. "No retailers have canceled pre-orders. [...] The war for a generation of a console takes place over five or six years. And we think this delay over Christmas is unfortunate and not ideal, but in the long run we don't think it will play a significant role at all," he said.
During the interview, Ephraim also voiced his faith in Sony: although the Xbox 360 has already been launched in the country he remains confident that the PlayStation brand will win. "We think PS2 numbers are going to be huge. Between now and Christmas we're going to put in between 150,000 and 200,000 consoles," Ephraim said. "We think the PS2 is going to be the number one seller full stop by units."
A set release date for PAL regions has not be announced, although Sony has promised a March 2007 release window. Stay tuned to PS3Land.com for updates.
