If you are new to the forum then you are probably wondering why you cannot see your avatar or signature? This is because in order for your signature and avatar to become active you must first buy the privilege from the shop using your skill points.
Skill points are gained by posting in the forum Console topics, but not in General Chit Chat every time you post. Sometimes bonus points are awarded to members by the Admin for quality posts. The ‘Shop’ is located in-between ‘Private Messages’ and the ‘Log Out’ links on the header navigation. Each privilege costs 150 Skill points.
Launch titles... close to the 25GB limit - Harrison
By: Justin Pinter
Phil Harrison, corporate executive and representative director of Sony Computer Entertainment spoke with Gamesindustry.biz recently talking about how developers are already using a full 25GB Blu-ray disc for their games.
"Already, at our launch titles, we're getting up close to the 25GB limit that we have on our Blu-Ray discs this year...Next year we'll raise that to 50GB, and I'd expect that we’ll be getting close to that in the fairly near future as well," he explained.
When asked about the non-interactive HD movies some developers are implementing and how that may be the reason for the high storage usage, Harrison added, "It's not just about graphics...It's about 7.1 audio, it's about speech, it’s about having up to 1080p movies built into the game; it's high res textures, it's animation, it's everything that goes into making a very rich and varied next-gen experience. Partly it's visual, partly it's sound, and partially it'll be down to gameplay benefits as well - more levels, more detail, richer experiences."
So far the only announced launch title that uses close to 25GB is Resistance: Fall of Man at 22GB. Perhaps Sony or 3rd party developers will announce more titles using 25GB or above soon and Sony can prove that the decision to go with Blu-ray was a wise one.
