Signature & Avatar Request

[Recon]

This thread will be for all types of members, new and old, meaning how long they've been here, to request graphics.Unlike most request threads, this one will be free, meaning you don't have to give up shop money or anything like that, here's a few things to remember.

1.Since requesting is free as of now, there's no rushing of requests.So that means if a week passes by and you're request isn't filled yet, that doesn't mean you say 'Hurry up', or 'What's taking so long?'.These requests are free, so someone can take as long as they want to fill it, complaining will only cause distraction, and the designer might even cancel the request.Doing this is your own choice, since I'm not the one who will be making the graphics.

2.Thanks to street racer for these guidlines, these will need to be followed, or your request can be trashed, it makes it allot more simplistic to read and understand.

Theme: Grunge, tech, abstract etc...
Images: Please provide links
Notes: Anything else you want to specify about the sig or avi
Other:Anything else not specified here, or added


RULES
Due to the recent activity in the Official Avatar and Signature Request thread, I have come up with a couple rules deemed fair by the DS. These rules will help keep order in a very popular thread.

Members must have over 100 posts
Members must use their requested Design set for at least 1 month.
Members must post their request in the official request sticky. If they want, they can still PM a DS member with their request.
Members must be courteous and respectful. If you aren't happy, express your dislikes in a non-threatening manner.
There can be "contests," but under certain guidlines.

Update (7/20): After some debating over the "no contests" rule, the SMC and DS have decided to allow contests, but under certain guidelines.1) There must be a reward. Currently we think about 750 skill points (or more), an icon, etc. should be sufficient.
2) The member who creates the contest must cite a deadline. Example: The member says the contest ends in 5 days. Only until that 5 days is up, could that member end the contest.

Update (7/28 ):Changed the requesting period for a new signature and avatar set to 1 month. This is still being debated, but for now you must use your set for 1 month's time.

Now that this issue has been addressed, please feel free to request an avatar or signature.

Can a mod help me get the dark blue glow? I pressed purchase glow because I thought you could just change it but it ended up being black. Then I thought you could change the color if I pressed remove glow and then change it to dark blue glow, but then I lost all 3000 of my points and the glow.

You have to earn skill points first by posting, except on General Chit Chat doesn't give you any skill points. You then go to the 'shop' link, located on the menu bar thing at the top of the page and you click on 'effects store' and you buy an avatar or sig. Avatars are 150 points as well as sigs. Hope I explained that good!

EDIT: I was wondering maybe if you could integrate this picture somehow. I really like the feathers, and it captures the two main characters pretty nicely. It's from the back cover of the game, and my scanner really blew it up big, but I haven't compressed/ cropped it at all so I wouldn't take anything away from the quality of the image (Although the picture was never meant to be so big, I imagine as your resize it down, it should look stellar). Lol, dont worry, i think i scrap the idea since no one is getting it. Ok a little easier one with some input from yourself, can i have the slogan "imagine the possibilities" written over the top of a shiny white background with some stuff on it, like PS3 and game characters, what ever you feel appropriate and have affinity written in small letters in the bottom right hand corner?

Just have some fun with it, as long as it has a shiny white background and imagine the possibilities on it, i dont mind what else you put on it relating to sony.

Can anyone make me a sig that says PS3 in the font that the ps3 is in. Also i would like my name in ps3 font at the bottom left. I want it set out quite alot like SILAS, becuase i like it. I like the cool colours that it has. Also, the ps3 logo.

I love it! Apart from one thing, could you change the image of the turntables so their Technics 1210's ? Not bothered about the mixer though.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you guys would be interested in making PS3Portal a new icon for a weekly column that starts next week wednesday?

We need a 75x55 pixel icon that has a College Logo like feel to it and the letters "OSU" for "Old School University"

We are also in need of a 200x150 pixel icon for the occassional feature story version of OSU.

To answer a couple of questions I received.

There are no size limits, but the icon must be in JPG format. We would prefer it if you can make it high quality and lower size, but we will most likely judge completely independent of size.

We are looking for your creativity as it comes to color scheme. If we see an icon we love but think it would look better in a different color scheme, then we will ask.

It's okay, except that its not all the way around...


Try This.

Open the JPG (Final Image) New Layer > Then CTRL+A, Then Edit>Stroke, Then put 1px, Then for color black, or whatever other colour.

For a complex more interesting one try this:
New Layer > CTRL + A > Edit > Stroke > 2 px > A colour that works with the sig. Then make this layer "Overlay"
Then another New Layer > CTRL+A > Edit > Stroke > 1px > Black...

As for the Avatar, that really isn't grabbing me. I would rather have something vaguely like what I have right now. More focused on the face of the character and a small (possilby even smaller than my current) text that says "siren".

Btw, love the font you used for Siren. Very classy.

If you are going to make any signature pictures or avatars for any forum members, you are responsible for the pictures you provide meeting the forum rules. I just went through and deleted 6 users signature pictures that were 60kb+ that were made here. I do not want to have to do this again.

While I appreciate your efforts in making signatures, including for myself, they have to meet forum guidelines.

That means, 480x80 pixels and 28kb for Signature pictures & 100x100 and 20kb for Avatars.

May I ask how you lower the size (kb) of the sig?

You have quality options when you save it in photoshop ranging from 1-12 I think. If you reduce the quality slightly then the size(kb) becomes reduced. I personally hate doing this but sometimes you can't avoid it. Also check what format you save your sig in. Sometimes Jpg formats can be very large file sizes. I always make one in a GIF format to see the difference. I remember someone telling me that photoshop has a "save for web" option which can lower your file size as well. You'll have to check it out.

By the way very nice job Skribble I really like what you've done with Siren's sig and avatar. :)

The best way I find for file size is to "Save For Web" then mess around with File type and sliders till the size in the bottom left is the size you need, usually can be done without too much quality loss.

I think we need a signature and avatar rating thread, where you show off your work and have it rated.

1st, don't like, not vibrant enough colours and that cartoon (is it wolverine?) is poorly used. I like the text. 5/10
2nd A bit more vibrant. The render is poorly blended, just looks like a ghost and I don't like the text, doesn't really fit. 6/10

Affinity, I love your sig/avatar combo, I'm a big fan of simple graphics, I think that they speak more than cluttered looking ones. I also like the line effect you added, and a great choice of color. Keep up the good work. As for Siren's set you made, I would try playing with the levels of the avatar and see if you can't get it a little brighter.
