These TV's are pretty good apparently for the cost of what you pay for them ... does anyone have good experience with them?

A lot of people are satisfied with their Vizios, but at the same time, I see a lot of them being returned at my local Costco, so maybe reliability isn't up to par as some of the higher tier brands?
Things like picture quality and such are sufficient for most people, especially for how much they cost.
proud Vizio VX37L 37" owner right here!!..my tv has been flawless except for a tiny green subpixel thats stuck but only noticeable during a very dark scene in a dark room. it appeared afew weeks after i brought the Tv back in November of last year, they have a "no bright pixel guarantee" policy so thats sweet!.. to bad i brought it in the US and took it to Canada cause they couldnt help me up here. so that'll be the last time i buy a TV from the US and bring it up here to Canada. other then that its a kick ass tv for the price.. i first brought the L37HDTV10a in october then in november the new replacement came out the VX37L so i swap it for that one, both same tv's except for the VX has a way better design/style. i paid $999 for it and now a year later its like $749 i think at costco.
i would only buy it from costco as i heard walmart carry the vizio's also but i wouldnt trust those models for some reason. im running a HD cable box with component and the PS3 with HDMI. out of the box the TV's picture is OK, the standard presets are OK but not the best. get a calibration disc like AVIA or DVE(i use DVE) and properly calibrate your TV for whatever input you'll use then you'll see the full potential the vizio has. high def looks amazing especially bluray movies and standard def is on par
if i where you though i would go bigger, i regret going with a 37", its a good size but now im wishing i would have gotten their 40 or 42" instead. get their 42" for sure and if your gonna go bigger like a 47" might as well make it a 1080p ... check out reviews.cnet.com for more information

I say you go look at the one you are considering side by side with another set of the same price. I think you'll be shocked by the difference. Yes you get what you pay for but why compromise to save some money. You should seriously consider save up for a more capable and better looking, as far as the picture is concerned, model. A samsung, sony or pioneer set would be good.
I mean we're talking HD images here. You shouldn't settle for less. This is a serious investment, and your gonna want something that's gonna last. Those sets aren't so cheap for no reason. Again I say, you get what you pay for.

You are exactly right not to trust it. Walmart Vizio's are the older models. Less features, lower contrast ratio for essentailly the same price.
The two places to get Vizio's would be Sears and Costco. Costco obviously being the best because of their return policy.
I own a VX32L Vizio and I'm loving it. I got my HD DVR and Xbox 360 plugged up via component, my PS3 via HDMI, and my DVD recorder via composite. I still have several inputs I could still use if I so feel. It's a great value for a budget HDTV.
Negative or Positive. You get what you pay for, thats basically all I'll say. Lower end (and even Mid range) LCDs have pretty poor contrast ratios and other problems. I'm sure for a lot of people its going to be sufficient though, so take it with a grain of salt.
Great tv's for the price. My buddy picked up one at walmart the 32" black one, with the 700:1 contrast ratio. It looks really good, made in America and i would recommend it to anyone getting a budget tv, as they seem to be the best value tv out there.
700:1 is ULTRA low ......... but I guess thats why it all depends on if you know, or care or not, etc. etc. People are happy with most anything anyway these days.

Yeah man, its sad. Such low standard. Like I mentioned in my other post, this is a serious investment. Why not make sure your getting something "at least" midrange. Your gonna have this set for awhile, I would think, so why not make sure its a set that's gonna be proofed for the future.
Those vizio's, and other low end brands, will, and actually already are, get outrun by all the other well made, notice I didn't say well known, models out there. I really suggest you save up a little more and get something worth it. Sure all these responds may sound positive, but really they don't know what there missing. Now and in the future.
"Choose wisely young Skywalker" - No, I'm not a Stars Wars fan. Just wanted to say that. :D

Yeah i know it seems ultralow, but it doesnt look ultra low at all. I mean granted if its side by side to a tv 5x the price yeah, but the tv looks really good for the price. 32" for $597 + tax, and if you have a coupon for like $20 off, or a certain % off 1 item, id pick up a vizio in a heart beat. Great American product, they have been putting alot of work and quality to get their name out.
If your on a budget buying a tv, i would recommend a Vizio tv over any other.
My parents have a 32" Vizio LCD and I wasn't very impressed. It seems to blur alot of motion. Granted they have no HD content on it, but it still looks...meh.

Have you tried cod4 on it?
I brought my cod4 to my buddies house to play it on his ps3 and tv. And it looked just as good as mine, didnt see any ghosting in the 45 minutes we were playing. It was smooth and crisp. My sony even has some slight motion blur, ive even heard people say on $2,000 + samsung tv's there is a little motion blur.
Do you have the settings like super bright and in vivid mode? Could be your problem if your over saturating the picture with color, contrast or brightness. Also noise reduction is meant to blur the video a little, try it with that off? Might have to do a little adjusting on the tv. But like i said, i was watching "Cane" last night the tv, and there was a tad of motion blur.
Anyone else watch it? Was my first time seeing it, his son was getting married to this very hot chick, blonde. She looked beautiful, untill i saw this big tattoo on the back of her neck, immediately got turned off. Figured she was some porn or camwhore with a tat like that. Man that is so annoying, seeing beautiful women with big ugly tats, make em look so slutty and easy.
Sorry i just had to get that off my chest.
But anyways, you have a ps3 and can hook it up to the vizio? Test it out, dont use sd cable to get your opinion of an HDTV, HDMI lcd tv.

I do not think they are very good, but I also like HIGH END stuff, like Samsung, and even higher, Sony.
Well I don't live w/ them, so I have not hooked my ps3 up to it. They have DirecTV but no HD (don't know why, I tried to convince them to get it but they don't want to pay extra). I've never been very impressed w/ lcds in general, and the Vizio seems to be just ok as far as they go. Don't get me wrong, for most people they would be fine, especially those looking for a budget TV, but I would get a decent RPTV for a few hundred dollars more and call it a day.

I think they're fine for those who aren't very particular about image quality and are looking for a good value. I briefly had a 42" version (VX42L, I believe), and while I liked the style of the TV and some of the features (PiP, input selection buttons on the remote), I wasn't impressed with the picture quality nor sound quality (it was in the bedroom, where there's no room to hook up a surround system). The backlight was very uneven and cloudy, the sound was incredibly tinny and hard to hear, the picture quality had a stubborn red push, the viewing angles were absolutely terrible, and it just didn't look very good. Replaced it with a 37" Toshiba LCD for the same price and couldn't be happier.

I don't know why everyone here has such bad/mediocre experiences with Vizios. I have a 37" and it's a gorgeous display, I simply love it. I only have the one dead pixel towards the bottom of the screen, aside from that I can't really complain much about it.
Then again, I'm somewhat biased as it's the most expensive thing I've bought to date >.>
In any case: Aaron loves his Vizio ^.^ Couldn't argue with the price, 850 for a TV that looks as good as this does? And for this size? Sold!
-Aaron, gushing a bit, but doesn't care much
its a great TV for the price hands down.. if your on a tight budget and dont want to spend thousands of dollars but still want good picture, get a vizio. if you can manage to save up alittle more extra $$ then get a samsung, sony or sharp(if going LCD) .. if going plasma get a panasonic or pioneer. and again if your going 37" you might as well get a 42" trust me. and 720p is just as fine as 1080p (except if your going bigger then 42" and sitting close to TV). 1080p's TV's prices have dropped alot too.

Everyone that comes over to my place agrees that the picture quality on my 37" Vizio is great. Don't listen to the snobs that'll tell you that you HAVE to buy overpriced name brands to get a good set. Save yourself some cash and get an extended in-store warranty so if anything does go wrong, you can simply take it back to the store and exchange it.

I've had my 32" Vizio for 18 months now. I bought it for $400 FLAT from Sam's Club. Don't ask how, lmao. I have no pixel issues, the black levels could be A LOT better, but outside of that, this is an incredible television and I doubt anybody could find a better value at $400 not to mention at that size within $300 of the price I paid on top of that.
These TV's are perfect for college kids who'll be moving from home to dorm rooms and then to apartments for college as well. The fact they're not $1800 TV's means if something DOES happen to it through a move, you don't have to feel like you just blew a 5 month savings plan for nothing or something along those lines depending your job situation.
I'm much more comfortable knowing if some jackass steals my TV, I can replace it in due time much like I could my PS3 or 360 and not be hurt financial from it.
Is there anyone that has two different tier brand tvs that comment? It seems all I get is somewhat fanboyism comments saying is one over the better. Like saying 360 is better without playing PS3...or vice versa. Hopefully someone who has owned both a Vizio and uppertier tv (Sony, Samsung, Sharp) could comment - models should probably have comparable specs even though w/ manufacturers stats differing so much should speak. Also one should state experience with HD...as I have seen this so many times. People talk about great PQ etc when it is their first set or first HD experience, so their opinion might not be the best to judge on.
I, myself, have no experience...still living the SD world. But would like to hear some experiences without scouring through thousands of posts at avs.

We have, I believe, a 62" Sony HDTV in the living room, I'm not 100% sure on the inches, but I'm kind of sure it's 62". Anyways, my Vizio feels on par with the TV in the living room. I notice no difference when I game in either room.
