Enough that I've decided to refrain from purchasing ANY other console until they are all sub-$200.00.

Besides that, and coupled with the '08 lineup(after Q1, anyway), I've also decided that my machine is more than enough to satisfy me until that happens, which will more than likely be in another 2 years anyway.

I don't count the TV cause i dont use it just for the PS3 even though i wouldnt have bought it if it wasnt for the PS3, i mean.. a 1080p TV is pretty much worthless without one or any other thing that outputs that resolution.

Anyway, like $1500 or so :(

ooo I didn't include the updated TV. However I was going to do that anyway and so I'll not include that into the mix.

Here's the thing though. If you get a PS3 with all this very cool Hi-Def and Hi-fidelity support then you really should try and get the most out of it (otherwise you only get half the benefit of the technology it includes). If you've never listened to lossless or uncompressed audio through some good speakers yet from your PS3 then you are going to be blown away the first time you do!

PS3: $600
HDTV: $580
Extra controller: $49
HDMI Cable: $20
RFOM: $59
NHL08: $65
COD4: $55

That's not the exact prices I paid, but around that all toghether just for the PS3.

600+580+49+20+59+65+55= $1428

Whoa.... that's alot of money. It's mainly the PS3 and TV that cost me.

Lord Arklon
12-17-2007, 10:32
When I think about it, I feel bad for the people who bought them on Ebay for ridiculously high prices.

*EDIT*

Then again..if you've got that kind of money to burn, then you're probably better off than I am.

TidalPhoenix
12-17-2007, 10:35
In Europe that really didn't happen. Because the stocks never depleted there were always plenty at normal retail price in the outlets. I think in fact there were some on ebay that ended up going cheaper because people had bought up several in an attempt to sell for a stupid amount and it backfired somewhat.

Not sure what happened at the US launch.

This is going to come out wrong, but for some of you, you realize with all of that money you spent, you could have gotten a REALLY nice vacation or gotten your girlfriend or mom something nice that she really deserves.

A lot of my money goes towards gaming, but I do realize that there are OTHER things worth spending (or saving) my money for. Now, I have a lot of money and come from a family with a good amount of cash, but looking at some of these numbers, makes me questions the priorities of some people...But hey....do what you wish.

Well the PS3 is a luxury item, as are many of the items which go with it. I would assume people only spend the money they can afford on such items. I have zero credit cards and pay for everything there and then. Nothing borrowed. You can sleep soundly knowing my kids are clothed and fed :D Oh, they went to Egypt and Ireland this year and are off to Malta and Turkey next - they don't go without.

I have a very good job and my wife works too. When you get to my age you are usually pretty settled in your life.

ive had 9 games since then so roughly 40 x 6 = 240, 50 x 3 = 150
new tv that i bought shortly after for HD gaming = 450
Blu ray movie - roughly 3 x 25 = 75

If you have the money then why not. It may not be justified to you but then again people spend a lot of money on stuff that I believe to be a waste as well. I can question a lot of your priorities in life but like you said ..."meh" it's MY money.

I'm a BIG car guy and spending money on a car is the WORST economical way to be spending money. But the thing is, I live within my means, and never over exert myself with my spending.

You're right but I went to Disney Land with my son this year not including a Vegas trip I took to CES. I pay my moms rent every month. Sent my son mom a wonderful gift for her birthday. Pay all of my bils and still was able to spend over 4000.00 on crap that wasn't necessary. People make their money you don't make it for them. So you're in no position to judge how someone should or shouldn't spend the money that you didn't earn. If someone wanted take every dime and throw it in the middle of the streets then that's their God given right.

Well this is both fun, and depressing when I look back and think about what I have spent.

The first day I spent over $700 on an extra controller and a couple games.

Since then I have bought 15 more games. If you say on average of about $60 per game thats about $900 not including taxes and stuff. And taxes are 13% here.

Then I also bought Guitar Hero 2 and an adapter, which didn't work great but was good for a novice. That was about a $100.

So about $1700 already.

Sorry for double posting I'm a newbie when it comes
to tech/internet stuff. Just got broadband about a week
ago. I love COD4 online, my #1 game. I'm a casual
player with a mic. I like to win too, but not serious, to get
upset over. It's about having fun & getting better eventually.

Add me, my psn is dakbo, if u feel the same.

$330. i win. :)

I have rent a lot of games via gamefly.

While OT let's see what I've spent on my 360
$400 + cod4 (50) + gears (55) + oblivion (60) + bioshock (30) + Forza 2 (55) + cod2 (30) + pgr3 (60) = $740 in two years.

When I rarely purchase games anymore, if I do but one and it has no online or I don't use it much I sell the game on eBay, usually making back at least 50% of the purchase price.

So I've spend around $1070 the last two years for gaming entertainment (not counting the handhelds). It comes out to $44/month which I don't consider bad at all. I get way more enjoyment out of my consoles than TV.
