View Full Version : Building a Laptop
I'm going to need a laptop soon for college and was thinking of trying to custom make my own rather than overpaying for a Dell or something. I just want to order the parts and then just have it built since I have no clue how to do it myself. I don't really know much about computers so I figured I'd ask you guys about which parts to buy. It doesn't need to be crazy good but I want to be able to play relatively new games on it. I can probably spend about $2-3000 so could you guys give me some help? Thanks a lot
Why not just buy one? I really don't think you would want to build one....I just looked on Newegg and there are no laptop mobos....it would be hard.
I thought I could spend less money and get a better computer since it seems like you can do it with regular computers. I guess it's different for laptops though. If I do go the prebuilt way, what's a good company to buy from?

$2,999 on Alienware....good (really good for a mobile) system if you ask me, but you are paying a hefty price for it....I wouldn't go Alienware....but since you want a "gaming" laptop, I guess do it....
Also.....smart thing to do is build a 2k desktop with monitor (I can put one together easily), then buy another laptop such as EEE PC for taking notes and browsing the net and such.
Buy that or something similar, then a desktop PC.
