Electronic Arts and Far Cry developer Crytek will be bringing an original first-person shooter based on the CryEngine 2 to the PC, titled Crysis.

Not much is known about the game yet, other than it will pit the player against an alien invasion bent on wiping out mankind. The short description briefly notes weapons and armor customization options and dynamic environments.

"Nurturing creative talent and bringing original intellectual property to the world of interactive entertainment is a key focus for EA and EA Partners," said Tom Frisina, VP and GM for EA Partners. "Crysis will bring an entirely new FPS experience to gamers everywhere."

Far Cry for PC and Far Cry Instincts for Xbox (pictured) were both published by Ubisoft, and well-received by the consumer gaming press.

That engine will make some great looking games. I can't wait to see what developers can come up with, the demo video was amazing.

Here's (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1190) the link to the video download, just in case you haven't seen what this engine can do.

I watched that video and it's just so amazing. That part where the man moved up against the plant was sweet (I can't think of more words to say to describe it). The Geforce 8 series will handle this and the 7 serises too.

I wonder if my new computer (don't have it yet) could play this new game coming in Q4 :?:

Well it's about blooming time. Metal Gear Solid creator and Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima has become the very first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Game Award at MTV Awards 2008, memorialised here by diligent Youtube fans.

As if that wasn't enough, MTV got the delectable Jade Raymond of Assassin's Creed fame to hand over the trophy. She gave a rather laudatory speech, giving special attention to the "dramatic and memorable cut scenes" which characterise the MGS series, and described Kojima as "the first creator who's taken the risk of discussing current issues and things that matter to modern gamers". We were sobbing in our seats.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gYWCCRXTeaQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gYWCCRXTeaQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Kojima himself then took the stage to make the following stirring insistence: "I will continue to create games as long as I live." Good on you, Kojima-san. We're sure the best is yet to come.
