I was wondering to everyone who does graphics, what got you started and how has the road been?

My story is that I was on my first forum, a gaming/graphic forum. I admired everyones talents and decided I wanted to make things like that. I started in paint, making very simple things and I eventually got myself a copy of photoshop. With some help from the members of this forum, and some tutorials, but mostly my own fiddiling around with it, my skills improved. I only used filters and images for the first half of my graphics life, and then found my way into brushes. I have been using photoshop for about 3 months and I plan to use it for even longer. I am contemplating doing some photoshop courses when I get a bit older and am currently trying to get it installed on our school computer network so I can get a little practice in at school

Whats everyone elses stories?

Umm how did I do it....

I've been at it awhile now, atleast a year, with a bit of playing around before then. I used in design to layout the whole school yearbook (not like american ones its different) but yeh... I started because I liked what others could do from forums and I thought, yeh I can do that easy... and now I sort of can I guess...

Well it all started in ResidentEvilFan.com/forums.
I had like 100-300 posts and I wanted a signature, so I went to the "request a sig thread" and requested, after a while I got my first sig. From here on I asked once in a while for sigs and I got frustrated with not getting the sigs, so I decided to download photoshop.

I made sigs of my own (I didn't use any tuts, alllearned from scratch) for 0.5-1.0 years (Yeah I don't remember...) and then suddenly I had the urge to learn new techinques and this is where gamerenders come in, I started to download tuts and learn new techinques.

And now I love making stuff with PS and I'm fairly good at it.
So it all started because Nobody was willing to make me a sig.

But yes, there are up's and DOWN's as for sig making.
I hate when someone gets a 10/10 for a sig that's just an image that he/she didn't make and just resized to sig size and at the same time i'm getting 5's in REFan(Though most of the people there don't understand **** about graphics, they don't make anything with photoshop, and if I give critism, people will say to me "your PS ego is a tad too big" "You're full of yourself" etc.

I just hate when talent goes overlooked.
(and some people say "they're only sigs, sheesh calm down" well it's art to me, yes, ART.)
