Tevez will be gutted if rooney goes to you're lot

He's not ready yet, still needs to add a bit of muscle hopefully he does that in the off-season. Mostly we need Rooney and United to announce they have reached a new deal, I would cry of happiness.
We should have just done what I said from day one, we should have given Rooney an empty paper and he could fill in the details. No fuss.
I can't chill he's my favorite player ever :/
I don't give a crap about the season I'm talking about Rooney.
I honestly think he has to much respect for the fans to go to City. It will be Spain or Italy if he leaves.
Like its going to happen....
**** the money, I'd never sell him to City rather have him play for the reserves for 18-months than go on a free to City if that's what he wants.
Tbh I don't take anything the British media face value anymore but where there's smoke there's fire so he might leave but I don't think he'll go to City. Why would he do that to the fans?
What a piece of ****, I've lost all respect for Rooney.
Here's the thing; Both the club and Rooney is at fault here. The club should have got this done a long time ago and Rooney should have more respect for the club. The club ****ed up badly and we're going to pay for it. I doubt Rooney will be as good anywhere else but whatever. He was my favorite player of all time now I have no respect for him. But the reality is that we can't keep our best players anymore and that means we are not a top club anymore.
Just my two cents.
Do you guys want him back? I'd give him to you to stop him going to City.
Why should this piece of **** be allowed to train with the big club, send the ****tard to the reserves.
We should suspend him, I loved the guy but you DON'T treat he club like this. I say this I rather not win anything if it means we need to have players that don't respect Manchester United as a club. I say this, if anyone feels like Rooney be my guest to **** off in January to them as well.
You can do things professionally as a club and that hasn't been done but Rooney has the biggest blame.
Complete ***.
I say go for local guys who respects the tradition and what it means to be a Devil.
Why do he refuse to meet with SAF, who does that to their boss? Rooney has been a lie from the get go what a waste of time. No more scousers in United they can all **** off.
You simply do not treat your employee like this dc I don't care who you are, he's dead to me.
Do you blame me for not liking what he has done? Opinions change you know.
yeah they do, but not normally so quickly.
my opinion didn't change of anelka when he signed for bolton, nor did it change when he then jumped ship for chelsea. I thought he was an arrogant egotistical **** stain before he joined bolton, and I thought he was an equally arrogant egotistical **** stain whilst playing for us. my opinion of him now he is playing at stamford bridge is no different.
I don't form my opinions of players based on whether or not they happen to be playing for my team. if they are playing for bolton, my opinion of them would be the same as if they were playing for wigan or blackburn, and as long as they are getting the job done, I don't mind putting up with them.
I've seen people on the 606 forums saying rooney won't leave because he's "red through and through".
I agree, he is red through and through, just like he was blue through and through before he joined united, and he will be whatever colour through and through when he signs elsewhere, wherever that may be.

FERNANDO TORRES TO REPLACE WAYNE ROONEY?
MANCHESTER UNITED are lining up striker Fernando Torres as Wayne Rooney’s replacement.
And Old Trafford chiefs will justify a £50m swoop for Torres by making the World Cup winner the club’s new poster boy.
Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of the Spain international but lost out to Rafa Benitez in the race to sign Torres from Atletico Madrid in 2007.
But Fergie will be forced into finding a new world-class forward after Rooney made it clear that he wants to leave.
And Torres will be top of United’s shopping list should Rooney leave Old Trafford in the coming months – though Spanish giants Barcelona will fi ght them all the way for his signature.
Despite claims from the United boardroom that there is money to spend, the club’s worrying debt means Fergie
would struggle to justify blowing £50m on one player.
But United’s pursuit of Torres will be boosted by the £75m Rooney’s salewould bring to the club, while the club’s
money men know the Spaniard’s capture would be a commercial coup.
The striker’s standing as one of the top strikers in the world and his clean- cut image makes Torres the perfect fi gurehead for the club’s worldwide commercial operations.
And United reckon a swoop for Torres would make long-term fi nancial sense, with the money made from capitalising on his global appeal surpass- ing the initial transfer fee.
Unlike David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, United know Rooney’s rugged exterior and headlines over his personal life do not make the striker an ideal marketing fi gure.
Rivals Manchester City are also keen on Torres – but a world-record move for Rooney could leave United striker.
Torres has become disillusioned with the progress made under new manager Roy Hodgson.
But whether United can persuade Torres to quit Anfi eld for Old Trafford remains to be seen, given the striker’s fondness of the Merseyside club. A source close to Torres said: “On the face of it spending all that money on one player is something United would fi nd hard to give the green light to.
“But they know Torres would sell shirts all over the world. It’s no secret that Ferguson wants Torres at United.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona last night upped their interest in a move for Torres.
They want to take advantage of the diffi cult time he is having at Liverpool. Barca have always wanted him, since
he was at Atletico Madrid but lost out to Rafael Benitez and Liverpool. Now they they want to team him up with David Villa, his strike partner in the Spanish national team.
New president Sandro Rossell is planning a meeting with Torres’ representatives Bahia International.
Torres would be welcomed into the Nou Camp dressing room, and is clearly out-of-sorts at Liverpool at the moment.

Do it.
yeah they do, but not normally so quickly.

I agree, he is red through and through, just like he was blue through and through before he joined united, and he will be whatever colour through and through when he signs elsewhere, wherever that may be.
My opinions change when I feel someone have disrespected something, or someone, I like Rooney did that and I have changed my opinion of him. He is no the man I once thought. Once a scouse always a scouse I suppose.
Why would Tevez be gutted? He'd have a new strike partner. Rooney comes deep to collect the ball. Tevez HAS to at the moment at City but he's not best at it. It could be the perfect strike partnership with Silva & Johnson out wide.
I'm salivating at the prospects.

Wasnt directed at just you pal, relax. Sorry!!!
He'll never play in a United shirt again.
Fergie isn't stupid. Any one who thinks Rooney won;t be booed at OT is delusional. Can you imagine how that will affect the team? It would be disastrous.
Take him out of the picture all together.
Benzema coming to OT has suddenly become very possible. Real cant stand him and dont use him and dont even mention him!
2nd???!!! you kidding me!!! the league is between chelski and citeh....upfront we aint too bad, but our mid isnt good enough!!
i belive in chico, but roo was much more than goals, he was the heartbeat the guy who gave it all, created stuff and had a bit of magic about him (i just sold him on football manager and fifa!!)
Chicho, Macheda, Wellbeck (shows loads of glimpses of quality, just need consistency) Cleverly, Pogba, that Morrison guy? Ekrim... I'm probably missing a few people.
Maybe one of these could become a top player.
We will finish 2nd, I am convinced, that's ok for now. We could go a few baron years without a league title, were gonna rebuild and transistion, I'm sure United won't ever drop out the top 4.
We will be ok :) I am sure
VDS
Rafael
Rio
Vidic
Evra
Nani
Scholes
Fletcher
Giggs
Chicho
Berba
looks the likely 11 for the rest of the season.. Not an awful side by any means.. Hopefully Hargo, Valencia come back strong at some point.
Good luck Rooney, have a good career wherever you go, shame he has to go on a sour note.

Yeh we don't need a striker, but a wing forward would be a good idea. I have no idea how good Sanchez is.
A midifielder that can make a defence splitting pass and a good winger (maybe a good holding midfielder as three times pointed out)

I said when the hooker story came that his private life isn't a thing for the media or us to judge and I stand by that but that wasn't a thing that should be named in the same sentence as a prestigious club as Manchester United. And I do imagine SAF said something and that's probably a big reason for all of this.
Anyhow, I still haven't completely given up that Rooney will come around and sign a new deal and I would be fine with that but I will never ever respect him again.
Here's my plan:
Use the money to make Tottenham a deal they simple can't refuse for Modric. We usually don't bully clubs but the gloves are off let's do it.
Get Sanchez from Udinese shouldn't be too expensive.
Sign whatever GK we're looking at.

If Rooney does leave we need to sell him abroad and use him to get a player we need in exchange.
I doubt Ferguson will get much of the money from Rooneys sale though. Like he didn't from the sale of Ronnie.
You shouldn't even be showing your face in this thread after you got done like a kipper by mumsface by his Torres remark.
i must have missed that one.
im a neutral though, dont support either teams. Torres is a better striker than wayne rooney, i doubt many neutrals would disagree. Of course he's going to say rooney is better. and i also wasnt talking about international football, in which case you could argue rooney is even worse.
who has a worse world cup, rooney or torres?
The thing that's confusing about all of this is that yes about half a year ago Rooney said he wanted to stay at the club for life, but it was during the summer he said he wanted to leave, this was before all the accusations of his private life were revealed. One of two things has happened here, he's been swayed by money elsewhere or is genuinely annoyed by the clubs lack of "ambition" which strikes me as odd because much hasn't changed since him saying he wanted to stay at the club for life.
In my opinion he's been swayed by money elsewhere.. if this is the case then **** him, no one player is bigger than the club, sell him, replace him, life goes on simple as.

Cantona fears for rooney future
Cantona feels Rooney needs advice
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona fears Wayne Rooney's top-flight career could be over within five years.
Rooney, 20, is already a key player for United and England but Cantona is worried about his lifestyle.
He told the Daily Telegraph: "Rooney can be the best in the world at 25 if he knows you need to train hard, go to bed early and be careful what you eat.
"But he could also be out of the best teams, out of England, out of the best 100 players. Completely out."
Cantona feels Rooney needs advice now to ensure the longevity of his career.
He added: "This is very, very important. All the best players in the world knew all the time these kinds of things are very important.
"I am sure (United boss) Alex Ferguson is very strong and will help. Rooney is still young.
"But somebody needs to say it to him. The last time I saw him I wanted to say it but I saw him only quickly."
The former France international, 39, points at Robbie Fowler as an example of a teenage talent who has not fulfilled his full potential.
He said: "Fowler was so good at 18, and four, five years later, at 23 or 24, finished, not even playing regularly for England, not even for the best teams. Finished.
"Completely. Out. Why?
"Clubs should ask why this kind of player is out. They say in England it is very difficult because of the media pressure. But it is not more difficult than in Italy, Spain or Brazil."

You're en fuego tonight, most be enjoying yourself?
lol. you're not getting Torres.
1. You don't have money. The money from the Rooney sale won't be enough since he won't go for top dollar because of this. And in order to get Torres from Liverpool you'd have to pay wayyy over top dollar just because.
2. Torres, if he does leave, won't go to a rival. He loves the club and the fans too much.
3. I doubt Torres will leave at all if NESV pull out the checkbook and start rebuilding the squad. That's still a big "if" though.
I see one of three things happening.
1. Kaka for Rooney straight swap.
2. Benzema + cash for Rooney.
3. Rooney decides to stay.
I'll be really surprised if Rooney goes to a premier league team at all let alone a rival. He'll want a top team, and every Premier League team that is considered a "top" team is by nature a ManU rival.

M.U.S.T on Rooney: Disappointed, and unhappy that ‘we are unable to compete even with small clubs like Manchester City
’By Nick Harris
19 October 2010
The Manchester united Supporters Trust (MUST) has responded to the news that Wayne Rooney wants to leave the club, with a spokesman saying he is “disappointed”, and that “we still hold out hope that the situation can be resolved.”
MUST also use the development to highlight concerns over the ownership of the club, and have a pop at rivals Manchester City – bookies’ favourites to sign Rooney - for being a “small” club.
“We back Sir Alex’s judgement as ever but our concern lies with the owners,” the MUST spokesman said. “They have saddled us with a huge debt and they are taking more and more money out of the club every season and the lack of net investment in the squad since they arrived is clear to all. They’ve bought players but are they like for like replacements in terms of the quality of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo?”
“Our club is generating record revenues yet it appears we are unable to compete even with small clubs like Manchester City let alone Chelsea, Madrid and Barcelona. We know where the money is going and it has to stop. The question being asked by many fans is does the ambition of the owners match that of Rooney or indeed Manchester United supporters? On the evidence so far it would appear the answer is clearly not.
“The contrast could hardly be starker between the owners at Manchester City who are pumping millions into their club while the Glazers are leaching huge amounts out of ours. People talk about players being greedy with multimillion pounds contracts but those figures pale into insignificance compared with the hundreds of millions the Glazers have extracted from Manchester United through their takeover.”
A protest march against the Glazers is planned before the Tottenham game on 30 October.
If you still have that kind of attitude towards City then you are foolish and not in the real world. SAF himself have called City a major threat. Let them go and do their protest march and after that they can take their seat in the stadium, the same seat which just cost them £50 which goes towards the Glazers.

Man Utd supporters fear for future without Wayne Rooney
Manchester United will find it hard to replace Wayne Rooney because of the owners' lack of ambition, according to supporters' group (MUST).
The 24-year-old striker could leave after boss Sir Alex Ferguson said he was unwilling to sign a new deal.
A MUST spokesman said: "The question being asked by many fans is does the ambition of the owners match that of Rooney or indeed supporters?
"On the evidence so far it would appear the answer is clearly not."
MUST, who have strong links to the Red Knights group who want to buy the club, are set to hold another protest against the club's owners prior to the match with Tottenham on 30 October.
The Glazer family, led by Malcolm Glazer, became owners of the club in 2005 to the anger of many United fans.
The majority of the cash used by Glazer to purchase the club is understood to have come in the form of loans, much of which have been secured against the club's assets.
The spokesman added: "We back Sir Alex's judgement as ever but our concern lies with the owners [the Glazers].
"The club is generating record revenues yet it appears we are unable to compete even with small clubs."
"They [the Glazers] have saddled us with a huge debt and they are taking more and more money out of the club every season and the lack of net investment in the squad since they arrived is clear to all.
"They've bought players, but are they like-for-like replacements in terms of the quality of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo?"

Yep a massive chance.
Here's why in a little detail.
1. City need a player who is a household name all over the world.
2. City need a player who can will sell shirts to improve turnover.
3. Rooney is believe to have said that United 'lack ambition'. City have thrown nearly £1billion pound at an ambition and there's plenty more money to come. You could say they are the most ambitious club in football at the moment.
4. I don't think he is going to learn Spanish when he struggles with English.
5. He's started a family, I don't think he is going to want to move, he can stay where he is and play for City.
6. Colleen's sister is terminally ill. She is devoted to her family and her sister. She won't leave england.

Wayne Rooney is odds-on to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window, with local rivals City favourites for his signature.
Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the striker wants to quit the Red Devils.
Rooney is now as short as 2/7 with Betfred and William Hill to leave Old Trafford during the next transfer window - Paddy Power will give you 4/7 - while bet365 offer 1/6 that he's gone by the time next summer's window is slammed shut.
As for his next club, Manchester City are widely regarded as favourites for Rooney's signature.

The Leeds-based firm make Barcelona 9/2 second favourites while Real Madrid are available at 6/1 with Chelsea close behind at 8/1.

Yes they can. The Glazers won't care. They've already built you up a tidy £750M debt. £40M to them is £40M, it doesn't matter that it came from City.
Also every bookie has City down as favourites. 7/4.
http://www.teamtalk.co.za/news/2483/6454143/Bookies-back-City-to-win-Rooney-race
I don't think he'll go to City cos I don't think Fergie will allow it. IMO, it's win/win. Either Fergie doesn't allow it and the Glazers let him handle it and Rooney goes to RM... OR... Fergie doesn't allow it, but the Glazers go against him and sell it and put Fergie + every United fan who were still willing to look the other way against them and they'd be forced to leave the club within a year.

I think he respects players wishes now and wouldn't want it to stain the dressing room or mentality of the player and sell/trade immediately and theoretically if Rooney was a hockey player (stay with me..) and on the Leafs he'd just let him go.. but not without getting maximum amount of money.

Your not really any better than spurs after that imo, currently spurs have a better "squad" so how your gonna challenge Man city, Chelsea and Arsenal?
If i was SAF id retire at the end of the season with my head held high lets face it the good times are over there's no money and there are more attractive clubs in England and even in your back garden. The best way forward is the Arsenal approach and look how much they have won over the last 5 years.

Wayne Rooney's arch adviser heads for another big pay day
Wayne Rooney plays for England in a summer tournament, then returns to gory tabloid stories exposing his alleged weakness for prostitutes. Further stories soon follow, that he has fallen out with his Scottish disciplinarian manager and wants a transfer. The manager denies any falling out, but complains that, despite all his club have done for the "boy", Rooney's "advisers" say he wants a move.
That was Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday, and, right down to the tabloid exposés, it was also David Moyes, in August 2004, when Everton's manager faced up to the 18-year-old "once a blue, always a blue" prodigy leaving for Manchester United.
"The club gave him the opportunity to come into football," Moyes said then. "I have a great relationship with Wayne. I have been in regular discussions with Wayne's advisers and we were getting closer on the new contract. [But] Wayne and his advisers have now told me their preference would be to leave. I'm so disappointed."
Ferguson said yesterday: "We've always been there as a harbour for him. There has been no falling out. David [Gill] had opened talks with Wayne's agent, and that was to be continued after the World Cup. Then David had a call from his agent saying that Wayne wasn't going to sign his contract. I'm very disappointed."
The agent who orchestrated Rooney's move then, and is orchestrating it now, is Paul Stretford, the former vacuum cleaner salesman with the chequered career in football, and now heading for another almighty pay day. Rooney, the boyhood Everton fan and player who had pledged his life to the Blues, made himself a red on transfer deadline day, 31 August 2004. The £20m United paid and £50,000 per week salary Stretford negotiated for him made Stretford an initial £1m, rising to £1.5m if Rooney stayed at United for five years. Now, he has.
Stretford has always known this next contract of Rooney's, for the mature five years of a footballer's liftetime, from the age of 25 to 30, ought to dwarf that fee, and be the most lucrative of both their careers and, very likely, ever in English football.
The lengths Stretford went to sign Rooney in the first place emerged in a series of dragged-out hearings which culminated in him being described as an unreliable witness in Warrington crown court, banned by the Football Association from acting as an agent for nine months and fined £300,000 for breaches of the agents' code of conduct.
The very day Rooney scored a sensational hat-trick on his United debut in the Champions League against Fenerbahce, 28 September 2004, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped its case against three men accused of blackmailing Stretford.
The three, associates of Rooney's first agent, Peter McIntosh, had been accused of making unwarranted demands with menaces of Stretford, for a slice of the Rooney earnings, after the teenage Evertonian left McIntosh and first signed for Proactive. Stretford had said he did not poach Rooney, that he agreed first to represent the player for image rights alone – understood to be paying a commission of 20% – in July 2002.
He said he then waited until Rooney's contract with McIntosh expired in December that year. However, in court it emerged that Stretford's July 2002 contract stated that he would represent Rooney fully as a player, for eight years, a breach of the rule that players can be signed for a maximum of two. Then they signed a further one, again for Rooney to be represented as a player, in September 2002.
The emergence of those contracts meant the trial collapsed immediately, the three defendants were declared not guilty, and the CPS barrister said the two contracts "seriously call into question the evidence of Paul Stretford", and "we do not feel able to rely upon Paul Stretford as a witness".
Stretford always said he had believed those two contracts were for image rights only, but after lengthy legal proceedings, in July 2008 the Football Association found him guilty of poaching, entering into the eight-year contract, and of making a misleading witness statement and giving misleading evidence in court. Stretford described the outcome as "a travesty", appealed, lost, then finally, in May 2009, withdrew an arbitration claim and began his nine-month suspension. It expired in February this year, when he returned, ready to negotiate Rooney's next deal.
Throughout all that Rooney became the branded modern football superstar, and has stayed loyal to Stretford, as did his wife, Coleen, whose celebrity media and TV career Stretford also negotiated. Stretford will argue that for all the vitriol which has lingered at Everton it was the right move, to Old Trafford, where Rooney has, until now, woven a glittering career.
Among the eerie similarities now there is that one too: the argument that it is right to go, because United, laden with the Glazers' £769m debts, are failing to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and soon-to-retire Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, so for Rooney, success lies elsewhere.
For Stretford, the arch adviser, the higher the wages reaped from these manoeuvres, the greater the commission.
I'm convinced his agent is behind this crap, hopefully Rooney sees trough that douchebag and fires him.
In other news Mourinho have said he believes Rooney will change his mind a write a lifetime contract with United.

Alex Ferguson's stance poses questions about Wayne Rooney's attitude
The Manchester United manager has cast Rooney as a mercenary with no regard for the club's health
There are still times in his 24 years as Manchester United manager when Sir Alex Ferguson peels his jacket off for a fight. Challenged the way he has been by Wayne Rooney and his camp, he reverts to survival mode. In his thoughts he returns to the streets of Govan.
This conflict was not one he invited. But such has been the level of provocation from his rebellious star that Ferguson was forced to go on the counter to protect his own standing with the club's owners and supporters. His dissection of Rooney's mutinous conduct was about as good as daytime television is ever likely to get.
Some detected a wounded air about Ferguson at a riveting press briefing in Manchester. Some thought he seemed sad – beaten, even – as if an ungrateful 24-year-old had shattered his beliefs about what a Manchester United player should be, and how he ought to behave. The word is that any sorrow Ferguson displayed stems from his conviction that he had helped and protected his star through many a personal convulsion and red card brouhaha and was now being repaid with a kind of contempt.
But equally he was in snorting political form. The alternative strategy would have been to excoriate the first journalist bold enough to ask what was going on. Instead he came armed with a speech that nailed several damaging myths and cast Rooney as a mercenary with no regard for United's health.
This was a veteran problem solver retaking control of a power struggle that had run away from him and his employer. There was disappointment, censure, bafflement, a restatement of club ethics and a nasty problem for Rooney now to solve. How can he escape the suggestion of unprofessionalism? His whole career has been constructed around the idea that here was a street warrior who would never stop running, never stop loving the game, never let you down.
When Cristiano Ronaldo declared his intention to move from United to Real Madrid, a deal was struck that was honoured by both sides. United would sell him to Spain, a year from the date of the agreement, provided he went on toiling for the good of the collective.
This was the hope Ferguson carried into this campaign, when Rooney announced – in August, we now learn – he would not be renewing the contract that expires in the summer of 2012. "Not renewing" is actually too prissy a phrase. By backing out of the contract negotiations, Rooney was forcing United to sell him before his transfer value plunged: by next summer at the latest, but more logically in January.
Even then a fragile peace prevailed. Ferguson had every reason to expect another gut-busting shift from the PFA and Football Writers' Association footballer of the year for 2009-2010. Instead: crisis and distraction. In large measure Rooney has served up only sulks and apathy: a haunting realisation for those United supporters who chanted for him to be brought on against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
The truth jumped out like a scalded cat when Ferguson addressed the microphone on the eve of the team's Champions League tie against Bursaspor at Old Trafford. In this last decade, especially, the United manager has managed seismic change. The longevity of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville only accentuates the contrast between the homegrown heroes from the 90s and today's self-absorbed nomads.
"Just remember one thing: respect this club. I don't want any nonsense from you, respect your club," Ferguson told Rooney when divorce was mooted. This is the killer line: the statement of ancient managerial principle on which the whole saga turned.
Ferguson was evidently asking the refusenik to be sensitive to the needs of the club that had elevated him to football's biggest stage. A fair exchange was in place. Instead: the treachery of the Wembley mixed zone, where Rooney contradicted Ferguson's claim that he had been carrying an ankle injury prior to the England- Montenegro game.
Observe the new Roy Keane, come and walk round him, he is colossally egocentric. When the great Keano persuaded himself he was the new manager and challenged Ferguson's authority once too often, the real boss moved with brutal clarity. The same values were visible back then. Keane was expelled, purged, for moving against the leader, and the club responded by constructing the second Champions League winning side of the Ferguson era.
"We've done everything we can for Wayne Rooney since the minute he came to the club," Ferguson told MUTV, turning another screw. "We've always been there as a harbour for him." There is a subtext here: 'I trusted this lad. I thought we had a deal. Buy him if you like. But good luck if you do.'
Ronaldo's exit was smoothly managed in the end, and mutual admiration endures. Rooney finds himself on a different road out of Old Trafford. On the way, he compromised Ferguson's standing with the Stretford End and chipped away at his authority until a whirlwind blew. "This is a club which bases all its history and its tradition on the loyalty and trust between managers and players and the club," the manager said. Implication: Rooney knows nothing of these things, and the loss, ultimately, is his, because United will prosper without him.
Reliable sources say there will be big-name replacements by the summer. Today's press conference was the first step to another reconstruction.

United won't sell Roo to City
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01147/rooney2_12_682x400_1147540a.jpg
WAYNE IN PAIN ... Rooney lies injured after a challenge with Paul Scholes in training
MANCHESTER UNITED last night vowed to stop Wayne Rooney joining hated neighbours Manchester City - as Barcelona and Chelsea prepared to pounce.
Roo's days at Old Trafford are numbered after an emotional Alex Ferguson confirmed his star striker wants to desert.
City are willing to offer him around £250,000 a week - but United would rather see him go abroad or even to Chelsea than let that happen.
And Barca coach Pep Guardiola last night confirmed: "He is one of the greatest players in the world as there are very few players with his qualities.
"He's a player I admire very much."
The Sun revealed yesterday Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti would welcome Rooney.
While that would hardly please United, their biggest fear would be to see him join City - and then watch the forward fire them to the Premier League title.
An Old Trafford insider said: "That would be a nightmare and we'll do everything possible to stop it happening."
But United's resolve may be stretched as moneybags City have the cash to offer more than any other club.
Rooney's value has already plummeted because he will only have a year left on his contract next summer.
Barca will expect to get him for around £25m - whereas City could tempt debt-ridden United with considerably more.
Rooney, 25 this Sunday, is aiming for £150,000 a week in wages - AFTER tax!
City are unlikely to flinch at such a figure while Barca should find it easy to offer that due to Spain's low taxation levels.
But wherever Roo goes, it is unlikely he will ever pull on a United shirt again.
Boss Ferguson yesterday accused Rooney of letting him and the club down and the striker is certain to face a ferocious backlash from fans.
Roo will miss tonight's Champions League match against Bursaspor.
He was carried off in training yesterday after injuring his ankle following a Paul Scholes challenge.
But even when he is fit again in 10 days' time, Ferguson is unlikely to pick him.

That's right, **** you City.
Wayne Rooney should 'call me' if he leaves Man United says José Mourinho
• 'If United decide that he is to leave, then give me a call!'
• With Rooney on the market: 'Everybody would be interested'
Real Madrid boss José Mourinho would be interested in signing Wayne Rooney should Manchester United decide they have no option but to sell the England striker. He told Sky Sports that should Rooney leave he should: "give me a call!"
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Tuesday that Rooney wants to leave the club, and barring a change of heart from the player it means he is almost certain to leave either in January or at the end of the season.
Speaking after Real's 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League, Mourinho said: "He will stay. He probably wants to leave for some reason but I believe he belongs to Man United, he belongs to Man United fans, he belongs to Old Trafford. But if at the end of the day Man United decide that he is to leave, then give me a call!"
Real are one of the few clubs with the financial muscle to attract Rooney, and Mourinho would clearly be prepared to listen if the chance to sign the player arose. The former Chelsea boss admitted he would not be alone in a bidding war if the England striker is put on the market.
"Everybody would be interested! But again, I don't think so, I think and I wish … I wish because I like him, I like Sir Alex, I like Man United. I believe the best thing for him is to stay there for life."
Asked about whether he liked the idea of a prospective move reuniting Rooney with Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he had so much success at Old Trafford, Mourinho laughed: "Yeah, but he will stay at Old Trafford for sure," he said.

Looking at the WBA goals against us, jeez we were so unlucky, we are so going through an unlucky spell.
United will find their swagger and hit form again soon I am convinced.
When rooney leaves we need a new striker, there is no ifs or buts. We also need a winger and an attacking midfielder, not to mention we will need a new goalkeeper soon too. Who will be our star in the team when rooney goes? Nani? berbs? Im still gutted by all this, get the glazers ****ing out of our club and sell to a multi billionair. I just dont have faith in welbeck or macheda, out of those two I would pick macheda if it came to it.

I think Mourinho wants Rooney to stay because he wants Rooney here if/when he becomes United manager.

Why do we need a striker? We haven't had issues scoring at all this season, it's just the defending that has been p*** poor.
Berba
Macheda
Owen
Wellbeck
Chicharito
5 decent strikers there, not to mention Joshua King in the reserves looks good :p We talk about our youths being good and all that, but if they aren't gonna get thrown in the deep end then they have no chance.
I think they should atleast get a chance this season, if it doesn't work then maybe look for an option in the summer?
I agree with your assessment of a wide player and a midfielder completely though. I hope Ben Amos is good enough to become a top keeper aswell.
Dream deal for me would be Rooney to Real for Kaka + Cash, which isn't to unrealistic considering how well Ozil has fitted in at Madrid Kaka will find it hard to play games, if we can get his top form out of him we all know he's class. Aside from that i'd love it if we signed Rodwell.

It's highly unlikely we'll get Kaka, Man City tried to sign him and he said he didn't want to play in England he'd get kicked too much.
Big fee then bring in a few players in positions that we need with the money.

Those 3 I have bolded is far to much of a risk to just put them in the first team, lets be real here, yes owen is a proven goalscorer but is injured all the time, he also is not the player he used to be, Macheda is still umproven imo, from what I have seen he has the potential but is it worth the risk? Wellbeck is like the old nani, he doesnt think when he has the ball, it will take time with him, I have not seen him play out on loan so I dont know how he is doing.
That leaves berby and chico, berbatov has shown what he can do, he is an amazing player and can win matched for us (see the liverpool game) chico has already shown he can score in the big matches, that goal againts valencia was great!, he showed no panic and no fear, to me he is sorta like a young owen, small, quick and an eye for goal. Now if berby and chico were to get injured, do you honestly believe macheda and wellbeck can do the job? or add in owen if he is not injured. What defence would be scared of that? we need that striker that will scare defenders.

I don't think Rooney will play again.

If Rooney goes we won't have a big global name that can sell lots of shirts. Maybe Chicho can become that.

Gives a good perspective on things, I still want to know why Rooney wants to leave though.
Liked the last part, tons of rumors saying we're after Torres hard.
I don't think so either but the media is saying we're making a bid so maybe we are? But I do not believe Liverpool will sell to us. If any striker its Benzema I think.
Seriously you're friggin' obsessed with Torres. We won't get him. Liverpool will never sell him to us and the man won't come to us even if he could. I don't want him at United, plain and simple. Even if we get him less then what we sell Rooney for, I don't want him. He's Liverpool through & through, I don't want him. He'd just join Hargreaves in the infirmary, I don't want him.

Not fussed if we have a global name or not. I personally think it'll be Nani if we do have one.
Maybe we will become a team and not play for just one player, that would be nice.

Yeah I think so too! The way Mourinho speaks about United makes it clear he wants to come here in the future.

Rooney won't play a game unless he changes his mind and sign a new contract. Can you imagine the reception he'd get?

Not really, I just think out of the options and looking at the kind of strikers we have Torres might be the best fit. But its highly unlikely.

Mancini also thinks Rooney will stay, a snippet from a BBC article:
No Man City contact with Wayne Rooney - Roberto Mancin
[sic]But in the press conference ahead of his team's Europa League home match against Polish side Lech Poznan on Thursday, Mancini echoed the comments of Jose Mourinho - whose Real Madrid side have also been linked with the player - when he said he expected Rooney to stay at United.
"He is an important player for United and I think he will stay," added Mancini. "I have respect for him, for Ferguson, for United. I want to speak only about my players."

Why isn't he telling though? He hasn't even told SAF from what I read. Frankly I don't find that acceptable.
Also this is going to sound crazy but I thought about it last night when I couldn't sleep and why not share:
What if this is just one last great plot from SAF and Gill to get rid of the Glazers? Maybe Rooney has agreed to help get rid of the Glazers by first leaking to the press that he wants out and then have SAF announce it. SAF says, as he did, that he don't know the reason and in a few days Rooney will say he doesn't like the Glazers. So the fans will outrage and protest like no tomorrow forcing the Glazers to sell the club and after that Rooney will extended the contract. After all why do this when he still have such a long time left? Could this all be one of SAF's greatest moments ever to get rid of the Glazers once and for all?
I don't know, this all could be a plot right who knows? All the other managers seems convinced Rooney is staying so maybe they know something?

We won't sell to City according to the papers, if he goes its to Madrid IMO.
Also looked into that buy out thing DC was talking about, turns out if you use that you can not sign with another club in the same country. So he can't do that and go to City.
I won't lose hope until he's sold, still think we can get an extension done.
Frankly I'm not entirely sure I want one done now. With what's come out and been said, I can't see the fans forgiving him unless he has a huge press conference and explains everything and we learn he's not entirely to blame. And even if that happens, he's still already lost a lot of fans he won't gain back simply because of the disrespect he's shown.
To think, just a few days ago our fans were chanting his name for him to come on against WBA. I'm sure the players already knew he was leaving so it had to hurt hearing the fans chant the name of somebody who couldn't give a rat's *ss about them or the club.

As SAF said I think we need to keep the door open because he's such a talented player but he once said he wanted to be like Giggs and Scholes etc, a legend at the club. No matter what happens he'll never be that now. But if he stays he will need to spill his guts out at a press conference and actually show some sympathy against the club and its fans.
But maybe this is just a plot to get rid of the Glazers as I speculated about.

A shame he retired so early :(
Well when you don't have Bergkamp on your team guess you have to settle for Cantona.. Sorry for coming in the middle of the discussion but I just feel Bergkamp doesn't get enough credit from people who are not Arsenal fans.
I'm not taking away from Cantona though, he was a great player as well. I've always been disgruntled at how little talk Bergkamp gets when you talk about strikers in the 90's when he was really one of the best (in a class of his own).

Bergkamp is my favourite Arsenal player of all time (ahead of Henry and I'm French), his quality was undeniable but I wouldn't say he was better than Cantona. I also wouldn't say Cantona was better either. They were each their own player, both with loads of quality, both able to win games single-handedly. Just personal preference, United fans will prefer Cantona and Arsenal fans will prefer Bergkamp.
P.S. Hearing there's gonna be a press conference from Wayne later on, wonder what he'll have to say and if he'll actually state his reasons for wanting out. My wish is that he states outright he wants out because the Glazers aren't going to give us money anytime soon to rebuild a side like the one we had 3 years ago. That should get even more fans against the Glazers and put their backs against the wall.

agreed.
but everyone else *cough*tut*cough* should also stop mentioning Torres because he's in the same boat. it's hypocritical to say Rooney will never go to Pool and then go and say they should get Torres. Even if he was willing to go, Liverpool wouldn't accept a bid from United for him unless they maybe doubled their valuation, and the Glazers wouldn't give you the money to meet the standard valuation. But it's simple enough to say he'll never play for Real or United, so drop it. Who gives a **** what the media are saying, England has the worst gossip media in the world. Apparently Torres should be playing for Chelsea and Man City right now because they were 100% certain on both transfers.
