I just find how they advertise stuff especially the X-box to being boring as hell. It always kills my interest in them.

Mmm... I do think M$ advertising is a bit stiff, but it's definately getting better. Have you seen the Mr. Stubbs - rebel without a brain trailer? Made me laugh out loud, which isn't very common for M$ commercials... I think it's a first actually... but none the less they're improving nicely.

Their Japanese commercials are horrible though... they definately don't understand Japanese market.

ok so if you dont like there advertising why make a whole new thread to bash on it.. when simply you dont have any supporting information besides "i hate microsoft".. Its funny some of the stuff you say.. i just half to shake my head and laugh sometimes lol.

He's only stating his opinion, there is nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, Microsoft's advertising is rather poor, compared to Sony and Nintendo.

compared to sony.. i dont see the comparison.. if your talking about the PSP commercials then yeah they can be compared cause they both suck.. but i dont see how a dude transforming into different things is any better then some dude in a train station beating on a drum moves people..

Theres nothing wrong with stating your opinion... just giving references to what hes talking about would be a little more helpful.. then saying microsoft sucks...

Ah, yeah, Id sorta agree the US PSP commercials are bad, though for some reason I always get that stupid song stuck in my head... grrr... seriously though, check out the Japanese one's... I was laughing my butt off.

Though I do think, even though sparce, Nintendo's commercials are really good... I liked the Bongo commercial... I thouht it was a nice idea.

The PSP commercial was tite. The song goes well with the rest. A person changing into other people is like to show how many people actually are enjoying their new tech or something like that.

I thought it was more to show how it's a little of everything combined. Still though, I didn't think it was that good... it's kinda... I dunno... it doesn't look right... something about those images all at once... too busy, perhaps.

no i think its to show the different innovations for the PSP.. such as the dude with the white suit and mic.. indicates the mp3 player.. the dude transforming into the lizard and guitar player... maybe the different games.. but what does a lizard or fake render of a basketball player have to do with showing how many people actually enjoying the new tech.?

Pictures for work?

I don't know. That's just how I see stuff.

Umm...well, in my opinion, those PSP commercials suck. Especially the one where the guy changes into so many different things. The music though is kinda catchy so I've gotta give props to Sony in that regard.

Really though, there's nothing really wrong with Microsoft's adverts. I mean come on, have you seen the Doom 3 commercials!? And you mean to tell me that Halo 2 was marketed horribly? "There has never been an enemy that has withstood our might." "There were those who said this day would never come, what are they to say now?" Those commercials were classic.

I can't say that I'm smitten by Nintendo's commercials though. They haven't even capitalized on their number one selling game this generation by giving it a sequel (Super Smash Brothers), let alone come up with catchy commercials. Although the DS commercials are interesting. Any thoughts?

i think the Japanese PSP commercials were much better honestly but the US commercials appeal more to the Music generation like MTV viewers and so forth.

the Xbox commercials at launch were horrible. they were stale and had no power behind them. Halo2 was almost a direct turn around. With ilovebees and the cinematic commercials they really put Halo2 into their audiences mind. But not all games ahve been like that and they still havent marketed a game since then as much

The marketing director for MS is the same dude who was the marketing director for Sega during the Saturn and Dreamcast days right?

I think he does a good job but the adverts aren't recieved properly, Sony have something really eye catching like the PS9 advert, MS focus too much on the product itself, the way to advertise is make somebody laugh about a situation in life or get away completely from reality, Sony are good at doing this but MS have too much focus and SERIOUS focus on their products thats why their advertisements are so stale.

I forgot to mention they don't advertize much in Japan or the UK so I won't have seen many adverts, also don't forget game companies advertise for Sony, they show its on the PS2 so people know what console its on and they don't bother showing it cross platform unless its on all 3 consoles then they say "On all consoles"

The same happens with Microsoft and the Xbox. Team Ninja has had every single on of their games show the Xbox logo and thus advertise for it. On games that are on all consoles, generally at the end of the ad you see logos for all systems, thus they are advertising for Xbox as well as PS2.

Doom 3 and Munch's Adyesse are commcersials from the game makers, not the console makes like MS and Sony. The commercials im talking about are directly from MS, Sony, and Nintendo selling their consoles. Games dont count since they basicly just show trailers of the games.

In that case i havent seen any Playstation or Xbox commercials that are based only on the consoles... they have to show games inorder to be able to sell the console or else they wouldnt get there point across for buying the system.. so yeah game commercials sell the console not a 30 second commercial sitting there and looking at the console.

Makaveli_786

There are a few console only commercials I've seen and most game advertisements show both the console and the game, like MGS3 which is PS2 exclusive, Sony and Konami jointly advertised it, I don't see many cross platform games getting advertised and when they are they will play it on the most popular console which is the PS2 than show the PS2 logo.

bustabusta196
04-25-2005, 23:15
No not if its cross platform.. they usually show the game then at the end they say the games title.. and they say releasing on the ps2 xbox and gamecube.. and they usually have a the game cases displayed. Maybe thats the way it is in the UK but here in the states its very different in advertising then over there.

Well MS are American and in countries other than America they have lost the war even worse than in America so I can see where you might be coming from, over here Sony and the game companies have a joint venture in showing the console and game and the game is shown running on PS2 hardware then the PS2 logo comes up, they advertise bundles sometimes too, I've seen very few XBox adverts.

Im talking about recent commercials.. yes there was the PS9 but thats no where near in production thats just a vision of what sony has..

Makaveli_786

LOL man it wasn't a vision it was a joke, it was meant to be eye catching and that's all they weren't showing a real product or anything.

It was a way to hype the PS2, the console itself. Look at the end of the commercial.

Nomura talks about 2007
By: Justin Pinter

According to a Japanese Interview with Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura, 2007 will be a big year for himself and for Square Enix.

Noruma stated it would be a "harvest" year and such titles as; Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+, Crisis Core, Advent Children Complete, It's Wonderful World, and one mystery title will all be released.

He further commented on wishing having a PS3 title (Final Fantasy Versus XIII) ready for 2007, but due to the slow pace in development on necessary software (White Engine), we may only see trailers of what is to come.

Stay tuned for further details!

Tetsuya Nomura talks Square-Enix’s 2007 projects

By: Justin Pinter

According to a recent Famitsu interview, Square-Enix's Tetsuya Nomura recently said that 2007 will be a big year for himself and Square-Enix.

The game and character designer for Square-Enix stated it would be a "harvest" year for the company. With such titles as; Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+ [PS2], Crisis Core: FF VII [PSP], Advent Children Complete [Blu-Ray], It's a Wonderful World [DS], and one mystery title - all to be released in 2007.

A full-fledged Kingdom Hearts sequel has not been announced for any platform yet, but it could end up on PlayStation 3, Wii or Xbox 360. Handheld instalments are also very likely in the works.

He further commented on wishing having a PS3 title (Final Fantasy Versus XIII) ready for 2007, but due to the slow pace in development on necessary software White Engine (a proprietary engine built for Square Enix's next-gen games), we may only see trailers of what is to come.

Nomura has reportedly stated that we should hear/see more things mid-2007. Stay tuned for further details!
