Remember a while back there was discussion of copying Blu-ray movies to PSP similar to how there Digital Copy on modern movies that allow you to play these files on your laptop/ipod/zune or whatever.

Did this die out, or was this just a rumor to begin with?

AFAIK that's for IPod and Windows Media Player portables.

Apparently that is still coming for the PSP but it's not there yet.

Yeah, there's digital copy on plenty of stuff, but the whole PSP digital copy thing was something they'd have to build into the PS3. Since the "digital copy" on the laptop/etc has to be decrypted first, they'll need to make a PS3 program to send that file from the disc to the PSP in the right format, etc.

And I haven't heard anything about the progress, if any on that particular subject. Seems like people don't care about blu-ray innovations anymore. :S

It could be one of the unrevealed features of the 2.40 update. AFAIK, they were going to add it into the last bigger update (2.30 or some update after that), but decided not to at some point.

Thats curious because I thought the PSP and the Ipod read the same format (MP4). I never tried myself TBH. I use my PSP for games and music.

His comment doesn't sound right...
The whole point was to watch these movies on the PSP instead of having to buy UMD's.

I can play the same video on PSP and the new iPod Nano without any conversion (unless iTunes converts PDQ).

The PSP will read MP4, but it has to be right size/bitrate/codec and all that mess. That's why whenever you copy a PS3 traile to your PSP, it never works. What's going to have to happen is eithe a) there will be a feature on the disc that has the psp-formatted file. or b) the PS3 will take the pre-existing digital copy files on the discs and convert them to your PSP.

Yeah I was kind of curious about the blu-ray copy feature also. I'm assuming that it's dead in the water since there hasn't been any mention of it since it was first announced. And if ever there was a time to re-announce it, it would've been at their Sony Strategy presentation. I guess there's still e3 but I doubt it.

First I think SONY wants to get DivX working on PSP.
