Looks like there's a possibility the 360 is about to have its price cut. Although it could all be trickery :)

Pictures of a supposed K Mart flyer are popping up in several forums, suggesting that the much-wanted $299 Premium Xbox 360 will finally become a reality. The flyer shows a 20GB Xbox 360 system with a new low price of $299. The ad also shows Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution and Don King Presents Prizefighter, so at least that proves the flyer is indeed new, but the $299 could be a Photoshop trick. You decide:

Hey I have heard that $50 Xbox 360 Premium Price Cut Next Month (http://www.topnewsblog.info/tblog_10280.htm), not sure if that's true.
Actually I have no clue how much it costs right now in the US. In the UK the bundle price for the premium with Prizefighter is £219. Can't find any that are not part of a bundle so I don't know the individual cost of the unit.

Well, I am trying to decide between buying an Elite if they drop the price, or waiting for a price drop on the 120gb HDD. <br />

you could just buy a HDMI selector they sell them in good electrical shops they usually have an extra 4 HDMI slots on them

Interesting. Do they lose quality in all the connections?You can't lose quality in a HDMI connection. It's digital not analogue. Therefore there is no signal to noise ratio, nor signal attenuation. In digital it either works...or it doesn't. 1's and 0's.
Then again, going elite gives me HDMI finally...though I don't have enough HDMI ports on my TV (one is used by the PS3 and one is used by my cable box), and my receiver doesn't have any HDMI outs or ins....so maybe I would need to buy a new receiver?

I was aware that they all had HDMI, but I was thinking of Elite because it comes with the 120gb HDD.
My arcade and elite came with HDMI 3-4 months ago, i belive the ones with the new boards come with HDMI, anyways MS is willing to spend ALOT of money getting new customers, which means timed exclusive game deals and low prices, so this rumor is most likely true.

MS will do anything to win more people over to thier side, which is good for them in the long run and for thier next console.
I don't think this price drop means that something bad is about to happen to thier sales, sony and nintendo are both veterans i the console "war", both nintendo have a big following of people that buy thier console because of the name, MS has not had the time to build up a big loyal fan base that will buy thier console blind, so they are doing eveything they can to get new customers, timed exclusives and a low price point is the besy way to do that.

Its a price drop to coincide with E3.
Why do you think all of the major brands (in canada at least) have been having a special 360 bundle each week (comes with 2 games, or the latest was GH3).
I would put it at about 90% chance that it is reduced to 299 (which is a $50 drop in the US to answer questions above) that it drops during the MS keynote speech during E3.

299 is a great price. Its a shame it did not cost this much in the first place considering the PS3 came with so many better features. I own both and there are defiantly things that PS3 did that I wish Microsoft had.

Arcade: $229 (slight chance of $249)
Premium: $299 (most likely to be true)
Elite: $399

I don't agree with that, but to each their own.
hey if it saves 50 bucks off my next big purchase, I'm happy with it.
MS could drop the price at E3 if they do then Sony will drop the price aslo..

They don't really react to each other, these kinds of changes are planned far in advance.

My guess is that Jasper is almost upon us. Hopefully the RROD is almost cured. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a new SKU at the 349 price point with a 60GB harddrive, for those who don't want to buy the elite.

I don't see how microsoft can continue to sell xbox 360s for the same price in europe and japan where their sales are not that good.
And in the US they need to maintain their core market, so a price cut is necessary I think. Especially since the return on a purchase of a PS3 is much better in terms of extras. (especially if you can find a MGS4 pack)

I wonder why people keep saying sales are not good for the 360 in Europe? They are selling really well in Europe.
Japan....LOL. That's like trying to sell ice to an eskimo. Not gonna happen. I am surprised there isn't negative sales in Japan. The Japanese just don't like us Americans very much. :(

I was referring to minor flame bait posts which started to appear abit on the first page, i doubt we will see a sony price cut though, i don't think they can and want to afford it at the moment, but i guess we will see.

I don't think LIVE sells consoles. That said, I think they need to do both. Lower the price of live to $25 annually, AND lower the price of the 360 sku's by $50.00. I think that will convert some silver members to gold members, and of course, add more console buyers into the mix.

It isn't that it has sold terribly in europe, its just that it hasn't been beating the playstation 3 there.
Microsoft could have found ways to sell to japan, their MSX did have a reasonable following there when it was pretty much nonexistent elsewhere.
