View Full Version : Just got my xbox, cant connect to live, grrr :(

Im using a wired connection, when i do a connection test everything is fine but when i try log onto live it loads then goes back to the dashboard(still signed out) Anyone got any ideas lol? :dunce:heart:

Make sure your PC can access the Internet. If not, you may need to configure the router for Internet access. For help configuring the router using your PC, check the instructions that came with the router
i cant connect both my PC to the router/modem w/e its called and my XBOX because it only has 1 ethernet slot on it :/

Are you connecting just the modem to the xbox? I tried this and it did not work for me, could just have been my ISP. You could probably pick up a multi port router for a few bucks.
I connect direct to a modem router and get on Live with no problems. Not sure what's happening in your case
I use a netgear router personally, if you have a router then you do need a wireless adaptor. If you don't, if its connected through the ethernet, then i haven't got a clue.
Modem > Router is the way mine's set up, then my pc is upsairs in my own bedroom, along with my 360. If its through ethernet don't you just plug one end into the 360 the other into the modem? :/
Did you power off your modem when making the cable switch from being plugged in to your PC vs. plugged in to your Xbox360? Most cable modems "register" the MAC address of the ethernet device plugged in to them and only that device can access the internet.
Try power off the modem, turn it back on with the 360 plugged in to it.....then when the modem is back on, turn on your 360.
If that works, it's the MAC address issue (your 360 is now registered with the modem) and all you need is a cheap $30 cable/dsl router. Let the router "register" to the modem and then your PC and your 360 can access the internet at the same time.

looks like you need a router/switch plugged into your modem so your 360 and pc can access the internet.

This reminds me of the hell known as Windows Live. I still cant figure out how to play Windows Live games online :s

When i plug the cable into the xbox all the lights light up on theROUTER just like they do when the cable(ethernet) is plugged into the PC, and when i do an xbox connection test everything is ok and it says XBOX live - Connected, but when i click sign in to live it loads a little then goes back to the previous screen from witch i tried to sign in from.. :(

this is weird because as you can see my gamerscore has actualy been updated to xbox.com site.. but i cant get onto live!!

I also get this problem, never used to happen until the last month or two.
I just can't be bothered to try and sort either so i just play my ps3 online instead. The online works and its free.....
