It goes by 200 point increments I think..

1 Point for signing up.

1 For making 500 posts, and the other for.. something..


You have more rep power than I woulda though, not less...

your rep power is different to the ammount of rep you have, you gain rep power from your postcount, length of time you have been a member and other factors

then when someone reps you your rep goes up by their rep power number ;) thats why you have 62 points

For free no, but after you've collected 15000 SP's, so can you PM AJe, and get the one you want... Some subscribers got it here for free, when the Super moderators had the ability to change their usertitles, but now must the subscribers even collect those 15000 SP's to get it, which sucks for me, because I do only have 6000 SP's :(

Seeing how points don't pay for server cost I doubt that. In fact your spending more time here getting the points and thus creating more of a load on the server which mean the cost rises. So... yeah...

Can anyone explain why I had my avatar removed? It wasn't a breach of the forum rules, as such, because I own the console in question so I can't be accused of being a fanboy and trying to start a console war. Logic does not work on the intrawebz.

Think of it as evolution. Small post count = Small dinosaur They get hunted by bigger dinosaurs, but the ones that survive do the same later on.

Changing the rule is a good idea, but it'll only work if every other forum did it too.

I said the exact same thing in the topic in 'Forum Suggestions' but it would appear that, to a lot of people, numbers are far more important than the actual posts. I for one don't care about post counts, nor do I not care about having no number next to my name, but a lot of people seem to be bothered by the fact that others can't see how much of a post ***** they can be, or how big their e-pen0rs are. It's kind of pathetic, really.

Your bank will become active once you deposit SP. If you have 400 SP on you, you can only deposit 399

Just copy what you want, and paste and the forum, using a special WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, will automatically add the images and links without you having to type in the URL, will do any formatting which is featured in the article and will display it exactly how you see it.

Yellow threads are the ones that you have replied in.

I'm not sure about the quote one, but you can subscribe to a thread. Click on "Thread Tools" on the top of the first post on the page and click "Subscribe to Thread". That way you can find if someone has talked in the thread since you last visited. I believe it also emails you to.

Ive just checked and found out that in Internet Explorer it works fine but in Firefox it doesnt. Below are screenshots, I noticed that the top right hand corner is different in IE than in Firefox. I copied in Firefox and pasted in text boxes, one in IE, the other in Firefox

So the problem must have something to do with Firefox?

Indeed, PSU has been attacked again. It's the reason why skill points and vBExperience were taken off, because it's thought that the hacker had got in through a loophole in those two features. Seb and co. are working on it, though, and it shouldn't be too long before PSU is up and running again.

PSU/PS3Forums has always been branded a place for Sony fanboys to come and kiss up to Sony, and the PS3. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was some Xbox fanboy behind all of this, or an Xbox fan who was banned from here after stating his 'opinion' on PS3. I think he means is there a way to be notified that his reply has been responded to, or something along those lines. As far as I know, there is no way to tell if your post specifically has been responded to, but you can tell if someone has replied to the same topic as you by the way the topic title box changes colour to orange.

People were getting respect for having a high post count. It should be earned by post quality.
You have just reviewed all members posts, so they only have quality posts, now you have no reason not to put the post count back up.

I got my PS3 last month and neer worries about educating myself on anything ps3 until then. Found out about sharing games a couple weeks ago but didn't take it to heart until I found a digg pointing to the Official PS site on their FAQ saying that it's perfectly okay to do all of this. So stoked and in a frenzy to find people to trade with I get hammered down in my efforts of finding somewhere reasonable to do so. 500 posts is a lot. My posts are often quite long and I like to consider them double or triple posts... ;P I'd love to trade. Does anyone know of a site where there is not a 500 post count or is it okay to even ask this. I hope I've understood correctly. Try clicking on your user name that is next to your post (not the one where you log in) and it should bring up a stats tab/bar. Hope this helps you out mate!;)

Subscribers get access to another section of the forums "Subscriber Chat" It has threads that only subs can see/reply. When you reply or create a thread in that section you receive double the normal amount of sp points. These points can be used in the shop to buy icons or used towards contests the pop up now and then.

Subscribers also get a different color name so others know who you are. There is a free icon for subscribers as well.

The Senior Members Council or SMC has it's own section aswell where we can see and deal with posts/threads that other members report. Length of stay has something to do with getting promoted to the SMC but showing a positive interest in the forums by helping others, good postings, and being easy to get along with all help in getting promoted. Most members who go onto become Mods start out in SMC.

1. There's many like for example... You can copy, move, delete and lock your own thread. You can also delete your own posts. You get a gold subscriber bar under your avater. You can access the subscribers section here, which isn't viewable for the non-subscribers. You can put more things in your signature.

And you can have a bigger avater plus, so do you get the double of what the normal people here posts, which is the points you get of making a comment and you don't get any advertisements here, so that's what you get ;)

2. In order to become a SMC, so must you show your understandment of the rules here, and be mature, when you post and talk with people here, which may try to offend you sometimes, and then if the Adminstrators here decides to pick you, so'll you become one, and then help the forum to keep been clean and empty of bad comments, threads etc.

1. Occasionally the PS3 forums will hang for me after posting something. After hitting the "post" button, nothing will happen and it will look like I havn't posted anything yet. Hitting "post" again informs me that I am trying to post a duplicate post and says that it's going to re-direct me, however nothing happens and it just hangs again.

Once this happens, it's like a domino effect. Attempting to view a new page or post something on the forum (using tabs - I usually open multiple tabs to view multiple threads) causes the page to hang. The rest of the internet works fine, but no page on these forums will load. It looks like it's trying to load, but it never makes it. Even closing all the tabs will not fix it.

If I close the browser itself (I use firefox), the problem is instantly fixed. Re-opening firefox allows the forum to show up without a problem. I know it's not the forum being down for a few minutes or something, because I've actually opened up another firefox window and the PS3forums worked fine for Window #2, but in Window #1 there were still 4 or 5 pages left hanging and not even hitting refresh would fix it.

Any help with that? Should I just not use tabs?




2. I see there is a "Post of the Month" section forum, but the last last month that it was issued for was somewhere in 2006. ;) Any plans on bringing it back? I think it's a good idea.

In the subscriber section its 10sp per post and 0.02sp per character.

Is there a way to put some users on "ignore" or "hide"? Is there any plan for something like that?

I have seen it work in other places and it helps with troll management since there is only so much that mods can do. There are definitely some people just out to stir troubles in thread and sections they don't belong too and often they are not open to real discussions.

With the option to hide or ignore a user, their post don't appear to you and over time it helps "starve" the trolls instead of feeding them ;)

Also, while you don't have to make such ignore\hide statistics public, it can help mods looking at the internal data to find suspected trolling and investigate as time allows.

By the way, thank you for a good job with this site and continuous improvements made.

I found out on my own. Its 20 a year, 30 for 2 years, and 40 for 3.
For the custom user title things. Once you pay your 15,000 sp are you allowed to change it whenever you like? or do you have to keep paying to change it everytime

you get a certain amount of experience points for every post that you make on the forums.
the number of posts + the number of days = your experience
the points can then be used in the shop to buy icons for your profile
alternativley you can use the points to request something such as a custom signature from the design squad.
and the games are not actual games persay as much as just icons of the game.

I belive it is both things you said, however to make things a bit more clearer, you get skill points when someone "replies/views" to the thread you created. Although if you "reply/view" another person's thread, they will get skill points. So when a person replies in your thread you get 0.1SP and you get 0.01SP when someone views your thread.

It's just a section that when you post in you get a lot more SP I think. Not sure what's in it though. It's a great mystery to us non-subscribers, lol.

but let me see what i can do
1. if your using a pre set up home theathre system. Ex.) DVD player with surround sound then you can just unplug the DVD player and plug in the PS3 in its place and that should work.

2. if that doesn't work then ask in the above thread or maybe someone else here knows

@thatonekid - Because people used to scam other people while gamesharing. Having 500 posts first is a way to prevent that.

The 500 post minimum is because we had a lot of new member scammers trying to gameshare.
