Wow...can't believe Peter Moore let that slip....well now you guys know who Square will be working for....I think Peter Moore should have kept his mouth shut...this could put a slit ding in the X360...

It was obvious all along, I can't beleive people were thinking S-E would jump on the MS bandwagon, its extremely unlikely to happen as Sony nearly own S-E and control a lot of their revenue, thats why S-E HAVE to stay on the Sony bandwagon and thats why MS are looking for these guys to make RPG's, if they had S-E on board they wouldn't have to worry about RPG's but its obvious S-E have no interest in Xbox 360, they've actually even shown interest in Revolution but most likely won't develop for it.

Well Since this info has been "leaked" I will talk about it...

For Microsoft, They think that they don't need it since they have the Final Fantasy Creator, on board along with his company "Mistwalker".

For Sony, Sony doesn't own THAT much of S-E, though it is a lot in just regular terms.

For Nintendo, S-E will be working with them...though it won't be with games...there going to help out with the revolutions networking (AKA Online).

Thats all I am going to say for now....

Did you already know this stuff before it was leaked?

Of course I did. Though I couldn't speak of it because of my NDA.

Umm...just because they're not developing anything now doesn't mean they ever will. I even remember Wada san saying that the next Xbox deserves Square Enix's consideration.

Konami was upset with Microsoft for not releasing the original Xbox during the Christmas season of 2001 in Japan and they didn't have any games available at launch but they still ported over Metal Gear Solid 2 didn't they? Just give it time is all I'm saying...

Fedos I bet you really wish people would take your word over Peter Moore's huh?

I'm messing but seriously if Peter Moore says its not going to happen who can dispute him huh?

If MS have ANY chance of S-E games being launched on Xbox 360 they will make it CLEAR, the last thing they will do is tell everybody there are no S-E games for the Xbox 360 if its even a SMALL possibility, they just don't want people to get all hyped up about S-E games and then see there are non on the Xbox 360.

Peter Moore: We have nothing new planned from Square Enix, and I don't think there will be anything revealed at E3. But it would surprise me if anyone avoid to develop games for Xbox 360 this generation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Did anyone actually read that quote? They have nothing currently planned, and are probably not revealing anything new at E3, the last sentence seems to read: "But it would surprise me if anyone avoids develiping games for Xbox 360 this generation" implying that SE will actually develop for X2, the english however is terrible so I may be wrong in translating that.

His saying that there is no reason for them not to develop for the xbox 360 but that is not saying that they will.

It's business talk, S-E will not develop for the Xbox 360.

If he even THOUGHT S-E would ever develop for MS his comment would be of a positive stance, in business when you mention something good you always put it in a positive manner, if he thought S-E would develop for Xbox 360 he would have said something like:

"We currently have nothing planned from Square Enix but that may change", in other words there would be a possibility they would develop for the Xbox 360, by saying what he did he was cushioning the blow and the second line was a message to the developers out there telling them don't follow S-E's footsteps and develop for us, you have no reason not to.

As far as I know Square-Enix does have development kits for Xbox360.

They will not have anything at E3 and they may never make a game for the system though. You can't really say (Expecially with a company like SE which might be developing full steam using the dev kits and not want to tell even MS that they are)

I know that a lot of people think SE would never go to Xbox. But to give a little more information, back in 1999, SE was in talks with MS about sim shipping 3 major titles on the Xbox and the PS2. I do not know why it failed, but I have my guesses.

There was no Square Enix in 1999

Having dev. kits does not always mean that they are developing for them...I can recall one company got dev. kits for both the PS2 and Xbox, though they only developed on the PS2.

The SquareSoft side is the weaker side of the two. Enix is far more dominant.

So you mean to tell me that no matter how well Microsoft does with the next generation Xbox Square Enix still won't support it? Even if they come well in second place (which is what I think will happen)? Have you even heard of the customization features microsoft has planned for this system? I'm speaking of the customization plates that you can put on the power button of the new console and who knows there may be more.

Those things may seem like trinkets but I am of the opinion that if advertised correctly people will eat that up like hot cakes. And plus with Sakaguchi's support Microsoft is bound to get more support in Japan than this generation. Surely he'll develop more than two games for the system as Microsoft has gone on record and said that this (speaking of Mistwalker's involvement) will be a longterm investment. So yeah, just give it time.

Xbox didn't break 10 thousand in Japan, if Xbox 360 does 100 times better than that and sells a million in Japan it will still be behind PS3's 20-25 million(thats how much PS2 sold in Japan so going off that), are you saying S-E will put their relations with Sony movie studios and game studios in jeopardy for less than 4% of the market?

Actully Enix went under, while Square picked them up. Square is easily the stronger company.

The last I heard Xbox's penetration rate in Japan was in the hundreds of thousands (probably somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000 though I DO remember something about a 400,000 range number but my memory is fuzzy). Though I do know that Microsoft hasn't sold the initial million units allocated for the Japanese launch. Also, if you honestly think that Xbox hasn't sold more than 10,000 units in Japan then who were all those Xbox owners who brought games like Dead or Alive 3 at launch and Ninja Gaiden? Those games sold more than 10,000 units a piece in Japan, in fact they were on the best sellers list for that country, if only for a while anyway.

I don't think so, but I'll look tomorrow. I'm to frustrated being a Sony fan at the moment...and I'm tired.

this was a translation from a magazine thats why the english is so poor, so in otherwords this translation could abe a little off from what was actually said.

if this is true also remember peter moore likes to speak with words between the lines. He says nothing "New" from square-enix but that doesnt count out anything in development that we already know about. FFXII and other publicly known projects.

i wouldnt say that we will never see a square-enix game on xbox. where there is a market to be filled there is money to be made.

Yes 350 to 400K is what I've been told, my mistake man, but having said that 400K to 20 plus million?

Do I need say more Fedos?

Yes...it is possible for them to port FFXII to the Xbox...but then it would really kill them only porting one Final Fantasy game. I mean if you port one...you have to port them all. Well Lets just say if they only port 1 ff game...then they are screwed with the genre...though we still have to see what mistwalker has to offer.

The company has been listed on 3 official Xbox 360 pages and then promptly edited out the name. Yet some savy web surfers have managed to grab screen captures of before the edit. Looks like this was one of their major upcomming announcements (sp) for E3. Personally bring on Front Mission 5 for me Giddy Up

Just a note,

White background, Black text in common font, you don't even have to be remotely skilled at photoshop to pull off fakes of those.

Not that they are fakes, but they could very well be.

I never said anything about that. I was just talking final fantasy wise...I mean square is developing for the next gen. xbox....though I'm pretty certain that you won't see any of the Final Fantasy games on it. Don't quote me on it though...since Im not too certain...

Hoho... I wonder what size winter jacket Satan wears??

Do we have a 2nd source confirming it?? Not that I really think E3 would make a mistake it just VERY easy to equate square/enix to sakaguchi and this could have happened.

I still think of all the japanese devs Squeeinx and Namco would be the last to develop for the console... though Namco already has announced their offerring... which looks pretty cruddy... maybe the same kind of response from squeenix?

I know, I know, it's just I'm very hard pressed to believe this... Squeenix has little to gain going to the X2 and they're so over taxed in game development for the PS2 and perhaps PS3, if anyone has a dev kit..., that I find it hard they're also doing the X2...

Man I see S-E are even more popular than I thought, people are going out of their way to make it look like S-E are jumping ship

There are several rumors floating about today which reveals a name change could be happening for the upcoming PS3 title, Unreal Tournament 2007. According to these recent reports the game will be given a new name of Unreal Tournament III.

The series has seen three releases so far, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003 and then Unreal Tournament 2004. This new name change would spark some confusion with the fans as Unreal Tournament III has logically already been released but the only change in the name would be III from 2003. Confused already?

It’s said that Midway will reveal the new name change at a Gamers day press event which is currently being held in America so we should expect something from them today.

Keep your browsers pointed to PSU as we’ll have more information on this very soon.
