Nintendo: Wii storage solution not necessarily hard drive, peripheral flood to slow

September 7th, 2008 @ 08:05
Exciting. According to an interview in Spanish Ninty mag Club Nintendo, the Wii may not be getting a hard drive. Or maybe it will! Said Reggie Fils-Aime:
“We are working on a storage solution and it is especially important in America because our consumers are using Wii Points for the Virtual Console and WiiWare.
“I want the people to have the right expectations; we have never said that it will be a hard drive nor have we mentioned how we will fix this issue, but we are going to deliver a better way to store the games.”
On the more concrete side of things, Shigeru Miyamoto noted that the Wii has been inundated with peripherals, so there aren’t “too many more” in the pipeline.
But if there are already “enough” peripherals, then isn’t another already “too many”?
Never mind. Check the link for Reggie’s reaction to Microsoft’s Avatars, along with a few other Nintendo-related tidbits.

They don't want to add add on type of storage units because it would drive the price up.

I don't see any solution not involving a increase in the price of the Wii.

VC games are tiny. All we need is a FW update to allow us to play off the SD card.

Wouldn't it just be an add-on? So, not to force it on consumers if Nintendo were worried about price.

exactly i never understood why we couldnt do this. i went out and bought a 2GB sd card when i first got my wii just because of the virtual console. then low and be hold you cant do that. kinda dumb in my opinion or atleast let me move saved games over and play from that but you cant even do that. i hope they come up with something soon.

Nintendo should of thought of this before the release of the Wii ... Now nintendo owners may have to spend more money

Thankfully I have a *~PS3~*
I also have a Wii but I don't use it much so it doesn't really affect me
