View Full Version : PC's able to run OS X now?

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but think about it. Macs can now run Windows XP because of the switch to Intel Processors and both OS's can be operated on the same computer. Now can a PC load up OS X. I'm no computer genious, but i'm pretty sure it can if Macs can load up OS X. Some hackers should try doing that now!

Also if this does happen and OS X is on regular PC's, dont be surprised to see apple begin to allow Sony, Dell, and HP sell there computers equipped with OS X. The OS industry might get a little more interesting now.

Yes, you can, but you need an emulator to do it, which isn't too great.

It doesn't run very well because it has to be emulated. Apple isn't going to make any software that will allow OS X to be bootable on PCs. And hackers have already found a way to emulate OS X on PCs. It isn't very stable, though. The best route right now is to get an Intel Mac with Apple Boot Camp. That is the only way to get the most out of both operating systems on one computer.

If you Like the Mac interface but still want the windows Core. You can download an OS layout called "FLYAKITE OSX".
Here's the link to download the mac interface kit.

You've been able to install OS X on a PC for the last couple years, however you need to have specific hardware in order to run it though I think people have managed to install it on a wide range of hardware with success.

If you have an AMD processor make sure that it's SSE3 (That's AMD64 Venice and newer), I have a Winchester and it's only SSE2 so I can't install it.

Now when you install it you'll need to have at least 2 HDs, then grab an Ubuntu Live CD and mount the OS X image file on the HD you don't want to format, keep in mind that OS X needs an entire HD to itself, so if you have seperate partitions it'll merge them back to an entire unit so you have been warned! In fact I'd recommend trying this out on a PC with nothing on it full stop.

Oh, just found a site that has it all done for me so I'll stop there:

That isn't as flexible as one would like. And it talks about not being able to use Rosetta given certain hardware limitations. You also have to have a completely separate drive for it to work. And since Apple doesn't support this at all, there'll definitely be some compatibility issues there. But I suppose it's better than nothing.

Mac will never let that happen. They are still a hardware company at heart.

You do realise that's exactly what I said...
