I think there should be like a 2 day ban for new comer that way they can see how the ps3forums works. When i say a ban i mean where they cant type for 2 days and all they can do is read the forums. I think that will keep the forums running like it has been and provent dumb things from being said on the forums.

LOL I thought you said new comers should be banned for 2 days to show them we have strict punishment and rules.. anyway I kinda disagree, it's not exactly sending off a warm reception to somebody if they join and can't post for 2 days.

They might get impatient and search for another forum. Also, most people who join and start posting usually have been lurking the forums for a day or two.

No but when they join it should say something like why they get a two day ban from writing. Tell them that we want to keep an intelligent conversation going and to observe how it works before they start posting things up. It would kind of provent things from being said over and over, plus it like a learning process how to use this forum.

Well look at me for an example...I have only been here from the start of March, and I have gotten a lot of respect as a gamer, and a game designer...I may be crude at times...though I know how things work around here, and I respect all the members. I have only been here for the past 2 months and 15 days...and what can I say for it? I have earned A LOT of respect of my fellow gaming community. So I say that we really don't need to have this rule...we just need them to look at how this gaming community is shaped, and very adjustible. I treat this as one of my highest priority gaming communites, as I give out A LOT more hints and info here then anywhere else.

For my last statement: The PS3forum Rules! Thanks for bringing us together for this experience Morph and Rebon. I just would like to give you guys a round of applause for making a very advid gaming community.

Yes I get where your coming from. But I'm talking about younger members. Not like when they joined, like their real age. Sometimes they just want to say something and join the forum, they see a topic and say something that might be silly or repeated. For example, the cell topic. They say that it can push 4GHz. Well if they only took the time to read it they would have seen it that it was already mentioned.

I disagree. Notice how many guests there are right now (if you can't, there are currently 613 guests) vs. the number of members on PS3Forums right now (if you can't notice, there are only 11). If they signed up at the Forums, I would think the last thing they would want to do would be to wait two (2) days before they could post...Wouldn't you?

That was the most silly comment I've seen on the site, I think that should have been posted in 'Hall of Shame' lol

The whole forum starts to get too crowded, and the worst thing is that most of the newcomers write a lot of posts everyday, and most of them IMO are not interesting at all. Cause they just start to read threads and write short answers to the last post most of the times about somethings that has already been said or writing something like "Yeah! IMO if they can have that on PS3 then it will rock".

It hurts he whole forum, cause I try my best when I come home to read all the posts that have beeing writen during the day in the "PS3 Discussion" forum... but I start to get crazy.

I would like to have a separate more Pro focused forum with some rules to get rid of these empty content posts if this is possible.

That is what this forum is about, pro posters who know what they are talking about in a mature fashion, i agree with what you are saying for sure though, i think ive seen a fair shair of post thats repeating infomation that i know about with the added words '...W1ll mak3 th3 ps3 ru7e11!!!!" (most of the time with out the l33ch)

Mature fashion? Yes. Pro posting? Not necessarily. Anyone can come and post their opinions here. We just want people to have fun in accordance with the rules.

For future reference, it's l337 (a.k.a. "LEET").

I agree. They should have another forum to discuss these kinds of things with stricter rules, and the users who post in there and just put on comments like "That's a great Idea, I like it :)" would be banned from posting in that particular forum for like two days.

Edit: I just thought of something. Microsoft Word has the "Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level" feature. I doubt any mods have been made for it, and it would be hard to include, but that would be a great way to restrict people who don't appropriate grade level for the forum

i was reading this and an idea came to my mind.only a user with at least a member status should open new threads. all the newbies/apprentices would only be allowed to participate on those threads.when they achieved a member rank, the ability of posting new threads should be unlocked. this way it would prevent a lot of bad posting and would give them more time to understand the rules around here.

what would you think?its better than the 2 day ban

I actually thought of this as well when i was on a forum, but how to go about doing it was the problem, well it was an invisionboard forum.
It could possibly be done on here, say limit a member to making new topics till they have at least 20 posts or something.

I think some of the ideas that I have read so far are petter good. I like what I see.
what you could do is have new people buy the right to make new topics. you only like change 50 or 100. I think this might work.

OMG THAT IS SO COOL! Your post count is 1337, thats amazing!

Yeah, I would be pissed at the site, and not come back if there was a two day ban just for joining. You would just scare off all your potential members.

The whole idea of restricting them from making new topics etc... until they make 20 posts or something is almost "idiotic" mo offens ment by this to any f the peole who posted it of course but if you say right out to them you have to make 50 posts or the status of member which take 100 posts to be able to post new topics would pretty much encourage alot more spam then we already have, example "ohh i have a question on a game and there is no where to post it what should i do i only have 20 posts!? Ohh i could just post a bunch of random stuff so that i could make the new topic" Therefore it would be a failed idea promoting more spam then ever before.

i never though about that and maybe that will happen, but if we don't restrict them we will be facing many times 'is ps3 for real'? stuff..know what i mean?if they are restricted, they can only reply to topics and that way they can learn how this works.

Yeh i agree that people might start asking weird questions under topics that arent related.
But this locking thing could also make members search more.
Say if someone went to post and it was locked, a error message would come up telling them that they cant post till they have 20 posts, and also have a link to search to see if they can find the topic.

Although now im thinking that this would indeed make things slightly annoying, might put people off posting and even coming to the site, and we dont want that.

I think its a bad idea to restrict the newer member from posting for several days for many reasons which include:

1.Making them feel unwelcome.

2.Restricting their freedom making it harder for the forum to continue at the rate it has done.

3.Giving older members more power than they already have making them almost to powerful (You have and nice balance at the moment morph and rebon).

4.It makes the forum look untrustworthy.

and finally it doesn't exactly benefit anyone, in the long term we all learn the rules (well, most of us) and this allows us to adapt to the sort of thing that is expected. Learning by practise is far better than watching things. All we need to do is enforce the rules slightly more on new comers, PM them more if they do something wrong and make sure they know how to respect the member and rules.

This way we allow new comers the same freedom as we all have while still making the boards happier for the future when they do learn the rules properly.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection coming to PSN
By: Justin Pinter

Released on the PlayStation 3 Network in Japan a little over a month ago, Namco-Bandai Games America Inc. has confirmed that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will now be coming to North America.

The game will feature a new playable character named Jinpachi and improved graphics in 720p resolution. Namco-Bandai has also confirmed two new details, a "fight money" system that rewards you with HD-trailers, PS3 wallpapers, and more. The other being a revamped Ghost Battle mode in which you can chose between 3 different ghosts from your last beaten opponents rank.

No mention of the price point yet, but the game retailed for 2,000¥ in Japan and if it remains the same, thats about $16.50 US.
