Bought a Sony BDP-S300 Blu Ray Player off of ebay....
Hooked it up, and I know all my hookups are right, but I'm missing something that has to do with the sound.
Watching 300, and all the background noise is working, but none of the foreground noise, aka the dialogue, is audible.
I have the white/red cables hooked up, and i've checked and double checked, they are hooked up right.
So thats one thing.
The other is that I bought All the Goals from the 2006 World Cup on Blu-ray which is supposedly region-free, but it wont play on my blu-ray player....
Im going to pull an HDMI cable out of my other hookup, since I dont have a spare (just ordered 4 extras from monoprice though) and see if I can get this noise issue fixed, but I dont get the Region-Free problem.
Maybe I need to update the Firmware on the player.
I haven't tried puting it in my PS3 to see if that works yet either.

Okay, so using an HDMI cable did the trick so there was something wrong with the cable or the connector on the Blu-Ray player.
Still dont get why my Region-Free BD isn't working.

Here's a firmware upgrade you might want to do. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS300
Try the movie on your PS3 and see if it plays on there if you have a PS3.

ok with the set up, have you changed the sound options on the player and the disc.
im not sure with your model but you should be able to make it play the audio track in 2.0 rather than 5.1 pcm or bit stream,
with the region free things, are you getting the "incorrect region" error when you play them.
also are they dvd or blu ray?

Yep spot on, It sounds like your sending 5.1 audio to a 2 speaker system. Do you have a centre speaker? Im guessing not and that why no voice. Check out the audio downmix options on your player.

Ahh, that makes sense....Thanks.
I tried using and HDMI cable and all the sound was there, so I ordered some extra cables on monoprice....
I'm still not sure how to do the firmware updates.

I'm assuming you are from the United States. Anyways, after you download the firmware, double click on it and it will extract. Then burn the iso file onto a cd using imgburn or any other burning software. Then after that follow the instructions in the link provided by my previous post.

On the back of the disc it says regions A, B, C
And it also has a Triangle with an E inside of it and says Exempt from Classification.
