Ok i finally made the plunge and bought this adorable little console :D Now im just wondering, what are the best games for it??
I already have mario kart wii, super smash bros brawl, legend of zelda:twilight princess and wii sports. I thought id come here and get some opinions. +rep to all that help :D

Check out Resident Evil (both) and the new Wii sports game (has sword fighting)

My two favourite games of this gen are Super Mario Galaxy and Zack And Wiki.
Resident Evil 4 is the definitive edition, if you've never played it. No More Heroes, and Metroid Prime 3 are another couple of essentials.
Don't overlook Wiiware either, you've got Megaman 9, Tetris Party (Wi-fi beefs up Tetris like you wouldn't believe), the Art Style games, World Of Goo and Lost Winds.
you've got to get super mario galaxy and resident evil 4 both are great games

Zack & Wiki, Mario Galaxy if you enjoy platformers and Metroid Prime 3 are my recommendations. And I agree with HeBeast. If you somehow missed out on RE4 you should definitely pick it up. The Wii controls fit it perfectly.

Ive wanted one since they came out so i dont think it will get sold lol. Thanks for the suggestions, gonna pick up resident evil and super mario galaxy soon just to start off my collection.
Another platformer suggestion would be De Blob. Pretty fun game that uses the controller well and has a pretty fun. If you're into sandbox style games I'd suggest Godfather: Blackhand Edition. Also, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World comes out tomorrow so if you're into RPGs that's another one to check out.
Also, as mentioned, don't overlook WiiWare let alone the Virtual Console.

sigh.....Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Zack and Wiki.....and then....boredom. If my kids didn't love Lego Star Wars on the Wii so much.....I'd have sold mine a long...LONG time ago.

I highly recommend that you get Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Both of those are a lot of fun, and Umbrella co-op is great for parties.
Aside from those two I've really enjoyed the Madden games, and if you're into it, the Trauma Center series is pretty cool.

Ive just bought mario strikers and resident evil 4. Mario strikers is quality, good break from FIFA or PES. Res evil, am i the only one that finds it INCREDIBLY HARD?? Its a quality game but i just cant seem to get far into the game. Legend of zeldas immense and a reccomendation to anyone with a wii :)

The best games? Dude, you've totally wasted your money. The Wii is not fun at all... in fact, you're probably going to get bored of it within the first three weeks or so.

I just felt i needed another console. I have the ps3 which i love and will always be my best console but i just fancied something fun. PSP wasnt doing it for me and didnt really feel like getting the xbox, dont need another main console. So the wii will be secondary and just a bit of fun. The ps3 isnt really a console to play with your mates, whereas the wii just makes you laugh with family and friends. Seems a lot of you dont like the wii lol, but i will always put the ps3 first and keep the wii as a fun object :)

Man if it makes you happy then good for you. I personally think the Wii is a joke but obviously there is a market out there for it and it is making alot of people happy. I would never buy another console besides a Playstation but that dosent mean others have to follow. Hope you enjoy it. But yeah there is alot of shovelware out for it, so beware.
To be honest, don't let people discourage you from your purchase because there are a lot of good games for Wii out there, there is a lot of crap too but avoiding that is as simple as well... avoiding it. There are people here who can attest to what good is available for the console and can give you a reasonably sized list of games to check out if you're interested, certainly enough to entertain you for more than the two or three weeks some are proclaiming as the "entertainment life" of the console. And that's just considering disc based retail, there is also a horde of great classics on the Virtual Console (including a few games here and there that weren't localized outside Japan until the VC provided a cost effective opportunity) as well as quite a few WiiWare games that are worth the time and money.
And all of that (once again) being on top of game releases in 2009 being a potential banner year for the Wii with a lot of games (especially RPGs) becoming a growing commodity on the platform.
