I was just wondering if they will accept a 360 with RROD, I'm trying to buy Skate 2, so I need something to sell.
Thanks.
Game stop test's all 360s whne you tarde them they let them run for a while
they wont take it if its broken
They just started advertising that they will take any defective console, but I bet it isn't much...check the website, but I bet there is a store call or visit in your future!
Edit:
The ad is gone from the website... maybe it was wrong?

Why not just send it to MS and get it fixed for free?

The seal is broken. Don't tell Gamestop though.

Well I guess you're screwed then. Why would you break the seal when there is a 3 year warranty?

It didn't really matter to me all that much. I didn't want to go through the process of getting multiple refurbs from MS and having to go through all of them.
I'm pretty sure that I am not "screwed", as you stated. It's a fairly easy problem to fix, I just want to buy Skate 2 within a short period of time.
I could easily perform the X-Clamp fix on it, but I don't have the parts right now. If Gamestop would accept the 360 as is, it would make my life easier.

the same reason, modders break the seal to watercool 360's, and paint them in awesome ways
to OP, if you EBAY it. you might have better luck selling, it may not be as much as what gamestop would give you, but ebay would be the only place you could sell it and something is better than nothing i say

Well you're screwed completely. When i worked at Gamestop we popped off the faceplates to check the seals, not sure if every employee does this now-as they still should be.
A RRoD and a broken seal lands you an eight pound paperweight

I think ebgames takes consoles that are defective and no longer working I remember a employee telling me that but this was months ago so im sure gamestop will do it to. I wouldn't expect high hopes or alot of money for it though considering the system no longer works.

Well, I asked the question for you at neogaf and for some reason they thought it was a very stupid question to ask since I got a facepalm and a /sigh
In any case, here is the answer:
Anyway. If it's been opened, they won't take it. Sorry.
edit: Actually they were making fun of me since I said gamespot instead of gamestop lol, they were right to

Do the towel trick before you go in and you might just get away with it

The towel trick worked for about three months for me before it would RRoD all the time.
I'll try it again though.

I just traded mine in, it was dead with an E74 one red light. They gave me $65 overall for the console after deducting $40 for refurb fees.

This is why buying used 360 is a bad idea.

I traded in a 360 with a broken seal and it didn't play games half the time, the laser was shot. It always got that white screen of death. They popped the face plate off and asked me why the seal was broken, i told them my friend opened it up. Which he did, why i don't know. Probably because it was having a hard time playing games and he figured he was going to fix it somehow.
They said they couldn't take it but then told me they could as a refurb for about $60 lol. So i traded it in and that was the end of that. Had my damn friend not broken the seal i would of got a lot more for it.
Just sell it locally to a buyer.
I found someone looking for a broken 360 in about 5 minutes in your area.
