I heard today that their is an app for iPhone from Google that lets you read books for free. Anyone tried it yet and any opinions on it?

We'll round off what might as well be called 'Google Week' today with an announcement that will be of interest to those who are into e-Books.
Google Book Search, which has been available for a while now via a computer, will now be available on mobile platforms, specifically those with Android browsers and the iPhone.
The 1.5 million strong catalogue, though only around half a million of these are available to non-US residents, has been optimised for mobile browsers and though these will be text-only and omit the digital images (http://uk.gizmodo.com/2009/02/06/google_book_search_finds_its_w.html#) found on the full versions, are supposed to be pretty easy to browse and read on a handheld.
Sure, they may not be as comfortable as a dedicated e-Book reader, but you're getting something for free, so who's to complain?
You can check out the range available by pointing your phone to http://books.google.com/m, and will find a nice mix of classics and modern titles browsable by category or a text search. - Paul Lester
