I've noticed that during COD:WaW, when I'm viewing the screen right before an online match, (where it shows the teams divided into groups), my connection isnt all that great...and it should be.
I have a 6meg dsl and usually have a great connection during warhawk. I dont have much lag ( i dont guess ) but noticed I only get 3 or so bars, sometimes dropping down to 2 or even 1 now and then. What would cause this? I only use my connection for PS3, and usually my desktop is on, but may not be doing anything. I'm connected wirelessly from the ps3, and hardwired from the desktop to my router. My connection should be great seeing as how I live nextdoor to the bellsouth hut for my area, which is where the dslam is located.
I noticed the "speeding up slow psn downloads" thread, but I dont know if that does much for online gaming. I wouldn't think it does, but if someone can tell me for sure, i'll do that. I did try to run the privoxy program, and it worked great on my PC/Desktop, but my laptop wouldnt connect, and when I input the info into my PS3, it wouldnt establish an internet connection..so it refused it. I need to edit the config file i'm sure, but I just set it back to no proxy and used it strait into my router, instead of using my pc as a proxy to my router..
If I am lagging any as a result of this, I cannot tell it, but I would not know if I'm lagged or not - I dont believe. I think I should have a better connection, and if someone knows how to improve that, let me know..
I can move my modem closer to the ps3 and have a wire from the ps3 to modem...then use wireless from my desktop to router..since I have a PCI wireless card in that desktop that I'm not using. What would be the benefit of this? I'm sure that it would not make such a big difference....but if someone thinks it will let me know.
