View Full Version : I'm about to destroy my PS3.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. THE best PlayStation 3 game out there IMO. Some of the Trophies are easy. Some of them actually reward achievements. However, some take the absolute ****! :pissed:
I love the game and want it to be the first game I Platinum, however, I won't be able to do this if it carries on pissing me off. I have around 60% completion on this game. You can check the Trophy card link in my signature to see which ones I have and haven't achieved. And tonight/this morning, I decided to pop the disc in and try to get some more.
There were two that I thought I'd have a go on. The "Survivor" Trophy and the "Crushing" Trophy. I need some advice though. I have been trying to get the "Survivor" Trophy on Chapter 4, as it's quite easy when on the easiest difficulty, and there are quite a few enemies on it. So I was counting my way through and found myself on 47 kills without having died. I get to the part where you cross the bridge above the waterfalls and guess what happens. Nate thinks it would be a swell idea to just fall through the floor. :mad: I move to the edge of the bridge, jump to a platform and he just falls straight through it and continues all the way to his death. :pissed: I am so pissed at this game right now it's unbelievable! Anyhow, I want to know, in your opinion, what the best chapter is to achieve the "Survivor" Trophy on. This isn't the first time I have tried this and died by poor jumping at the bridge on Chapter 4 as well.
Now, on to "Crushing." What is the hardest Chapter in the game? I have read, despite it being simple on easy, that it's Chapter 4 and that is where I am stuck on now. I am at the part where you have just discovered Sully's crashed plane and have to fight off a hand full of enemies with only a thin column to act as cover. I tried to get past it for about 40 minutes before giving up. They attack you from all angles, take about 3 shotgun bullets from close range to die and can kill you with 2 pistol shots from the other side of the field. :pissed: So how did you get past this Chapter, and what strategy did you use when playing this game on Crushing?
Looking at other the other Chapters on this game, I can'tsee me completing this game on Crushing TBH. :(

I didn't find it that hard. Took me less than 2 days to platinum, with just one playthrough too.
That's impossible. It has to take at least two. One to unlock the Crushing difficulty, and one in Crushing difficulty.

Its possible if he beat the game already and had crushing unlocked and kept his save data. All he would have to do is go threw the whole game get the trophies all in one play though and get platinum. I know what you mean though it took me 2 or maybe 3 (can't remember) to get platinum.

me 2 , i'm stuck at chapter 4 at the plane crash site :pissed::cussthey keep killing me :pissed::cuss is there a better way to beat them , i hope that i get the crushing trophy soon:D

As for the plane wreckage I ended up with a shotgun (ended up saving my life multiple times in the game on crushing) and ... a handgun or an AK, I can't remember (this was over 6-7 months ago or so I got the plat). Anyway, IIRC right after you jump out there is a rock and/or a piece of the airplane sticking out of the ground that you can use as cover. I don't think that I actually used the cover system... just inched in and out and tried my best for headshots. Those that got close I'd hit in the legs to stumble them then switched to shotgun and unloaded on them. It took 2 or 3 tries, but overally I still didn't have much trouble with it.
I've also heard of a more aggressive tactic where you basically run like mad down to where they drop down and take the fight to them . . . that may work out OK too.
Another common area of difficulty is the ruins where you are still fighting pirates and you drop into the water . . . same reason as the plane crash area : lots of enemies popping all over the place. I found it best to run straight forward and jump over the small wall and keep an eye to my right for an ambush/flank after taking out the enemies above me.
Again, I've heard of an alternate tactic where you can start the spawning process before actually dropping down to make things easier; this might bear some looking into.

As Kaileena mentioned, the best way to get the Survivor trophy is where all the monsters respawn in a large room. There's loads of ammo, and you'll not struggle to stay alive on Easy.
As for Crushing, just be sure to move from cover to cover, and not get pinned down. Be especially careful of being flanked, and the shotgun guys who can take you down extremely easily. You'll soon find that you've sussed how it works, and the rest won't seem too hard.
Also, as a really really good tactic for taking down enemies without exposing yourself, try standing behind cover, but without actually hugging a wall. The ease yourself round, and press R3 to swap gun stance to whichever gives you a better line of sight. You'll find that this way, you can inch each enemy into view one by one, without them seeing you, and without having to deal with lots at once. Obviously this is for large walls, pillars and columns, as opposed to low walls you duck behind.

hehe, i died a huge number of times on my playthrough on crushing. If you have alot of patience, you'll have no problem completing it :)

That plane crash site on crushing was ridiculous. I started off tossing a grenade when they guys are standing in front of the rope. Then from there its all about the head shots.
The hardest part in this game was the level where there is a guy on a turret and you need to use the grenade launcher to crumble the rocks so he falls. Then you jump down in the enclosed area with water and there are a few pillars and a guy up top where a door is. The enemies come from all over and you really can not run at all. That part made me want to quit so many times.
crushing is so ****ing dam hard.
never EVER play COD:W@W on veteran if u are having trouble with this...
crushing on uncharted was super hard...
but cod was just impossible... took me soo long lol...
my tips for uncharted is get reallly good with head shots...
i beat the game on pretty much headshots alone...
sit really close to the tv and just perfect hitting them in the head

That part was a pain for me but ony for awhile. Crushing is not that hard if you aim to kill with headshots and always think ahead.
In this part, think of a strategy and if its working for one minute and then fail, rethink and start from where it was working and find other ways to continue it.
If you try to look in youtube for tips for this area, you can find some. Youtube is your friend for crushing mode.
Have patience and you will earn that well desereved platinum.

And for the guys suggesting getting good with headshots, luckily I already am. I got the "100 Headshots" Trophy at the ruins part of my first play through.

Well if Uncharted on crushing makes you wanna bust your ps3, then I guess COD:WaW on Veteran would have you wanna nuke your hometown!
It's all about patience...one checkpoint at a time...there are really only a handfull of really annoying battles (plane crash, pillar room with water, grand hall with the ambush etc.). If you seem to get stuck in one checkpoint, leave it alone and try it the next day. I had found it quite hard because I was coming from a long period of playing games just once on easiest difficulty and without too much exploring, something that trophies changed for the better! There were times that I could get stuck in a point with just 4 or 5 enemies and couldn't figure out what to do! Just patience and persistence...

The person who is playing is using the technique theaface suggested a few posts up, taking cover behind something without hugging it.

Yeah, I have only about 6 or so trophies to go. All easily doable IMO except 'Crushing'. I stopped after about a dozen tries at the plane wreck in Chapt 4. Think, damn if this is so difficult, then the Area below the fortress in the water w/ the pillars was going to be too much of a Biotch - I had a much harder time getting through it, then the plane crash on hard. Then thinking on down to the 2nd pass through the church w/ the laser sited snippers was going to be a real biotch too.
At that point I said, I'm not sure it's worth it and I've got other games to play. I'll go back to it one day (like I did R6V - Irena area on Hard - major PIA - but did it)
Anyway, I got 'Survivor' on the first play through - I had just past the monster area in the bunkers w/ the generator you need to turn back on, and was heading down the stairs w/ the baddies and mutant - killed about 4 or so of them on the ramp down, turned the corner - got a mutant on me - shook it off - unloaded on it. And it popped up.
Stopped and read the description and thought to myself. Well I guess I was lucky to survived that last attack. About 2 attacks later (about the platform area on the left side) I get taken out.
While I enjoyed it on Normal and Survived it on Hard, I'd say Crushing is extremely difficult on the game. If you disagree, then I guess you're just an Uber Shooter and I'm an old fart.

yup, aim for headshot,
and for the close water area with a lot of pillar, there's a glitch... google for it... you can get through it in one playthrough
This was the first game I got platinum for, sure it put up a challenge but just play smart and have patience. If you don't have patience and persistance, then don't go for the platinums, it's just too much of a pain in the *** :P

I gave up on the platinum for this game a while ago, with the Crushing trophy the only one left. I got to where you reach the church for the first time, failed to progress after 90 minutes of trying, and said "**** it".

i feel your pain on the crushing, im just before elena shows you the footage of sully getting the the copter, and that room is a killer, the lack f ammo i have, its awful, im gunna stay focused and get it some day thor

I think chapter 20 in the church was probably the hardest for me. But there's only a few really hard parts in the game. The ending on crushing isn't that hard. Don't give up!!

Crushing is just that. Crushing. It's just insane. The enemy looks you funny and Drake dies.

after the place wreck its somewhat quite easy, and i struggled there so i think we on the same wave length of finding it hard, im just having trouble in this room, been here for like a month :| dreading the churches

Just went through this game a few days ago still an awesome game looks great i cant imagine the next game looking better cant wait ...might be my only platinum too i think im at 70%

Shotgun + Blindfire from cover = Pwn
Get to a position where the enemy can't flank you from every direction and wait for the enemies to get close.
Shoot them with your pistol whilst you wait but don't risk anything, take it easy.
The enemies you fight will eventually get close and when they do, BAM!! shotgun kill. Don't press L1 to aim, just press the fire button to blindfire from cover.
I can't believe how much easier the game has gotten since i started using this method.

Uncharted was the 2nd easiest game i got a platinum on behind Alone in the Dark. There was maybe 2-3 spots in the entire game on Crushing mode that gave me trouble. One of them was chapter 4 i believe.
Nowhere near as hard as beating a Call of Duty game on Veteran, stick with it.

This game pissed me off, but only when I got to chapter 4 on crushing. Rest of the trophies were easy, need to hire someone to get the crushing trophy for me it seems. Lol.

right i just got to the church for the first time, i get the sniper, take the lasers down, run round th the bottom and kill everyone, than BANG, an old guy out of nowhere blows me straight up, so has anyone got an alternative?

Head in and kill a couple then run all the way back out of the area and take out the second wave as they come through the passage to get you.

Crushing, Chapter 4, plane wreck. At the top of the area, there is an archway, through which the bad guys come. To the right is a crate. I wedged myself behind the crate, and no matter how close they get, their shots dont hurt you.
From there you can blind fire or anything else you deem necessary...:lol:

I didn't notice much of a difference in difficulty. They're really easy even on crushing, all you have to do is to shoot from the hip.

Pretty much what I did too, I don't think they are harder...you just die quicker if you get hit by them.

massive thanks to this guy, hes helped me out loads! and thanks for tips, ive never really had trouble with them so i should be alright, its just the courtyard outside the church and the church with sully im dreading, hows "the boss" last chapter?

That sucks man...luckily, uncharted is one of those games you want to play over and over so you might want to go for another crushing playthrough some other time.

started a new game man, im gunna give it a break then try blast threw it in a dayish, if i dont get it again, forgot it
