Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony for Download on Xbox LIVE® and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Available on Disc for Xbox 360® this Fall
By: Business Wire
May. 26, 2009 04:01 PM
Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce the fall release of both the second episode of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony - exclusively for download on Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network, and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, which will include both episode one The Lost and Damned, and episode two The Ballad of Gay Tony together on a single disc exclusively for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
“Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we’ve created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode’s focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities.”
Grand Theft Auto IV’s second downloadable episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka “Gay Tony”), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City delivers two games on one disc - the all-new episode The Ballad of Gay Tony and the first episode, The Lost and Damned - together on disc for the first time - for Xbox 360 for $39.99 and will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.
The Ballad of Gay Tony will release on Xbox LIVE this fall for $19.99 or 1600 MS points and requires players to have Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE membership to download.

Nope. The two episodes of DLC are exclusive to the 360.

I don't think it'll come to the PS3, but I agree that "exclusive content" doesn't always mean exclusive content lol.

This. ^^
Gamefork dude is full of ****.
BTW, I was an advocate for companies doing stand-alone DLC since Insomniac released Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty on PSN.
i really enjoyed the L&TD but it did feel a little short on the SP.plus i wasnt too impressed with the Ending but anyway i will be Defo downloading Gay Tony . plus i wonder if they will throw more Multiplayer Game modes on as well
Best 50 mill MS ever spent. Cant wait for this.
This could prove the rumours true a couple of months ago about Rockstar already making the next GTA. I remember people were quick to dismiss it because they thought the 2nd episode would not be out until next year.
GTA IV : Vice City 2010........
Damn..a disc version of both episodes.

I am so on this. But dang, did you see that you can buy the game as "Episodes" with out buying the GTAIV title? So Lost and Damned and Gay Tony for $39, and no need for the actual game.
Digital distribution and DLC is rockin'

Thats certainly a title I didn't expect. I wonder if all the homophobic little idiots (yes, not all of Xbox Live users are like that, before you jump down my throat) will take to it with open arms? I think the title is hilarious. Typical Rockstar North!

Love the title! I've been waiting for this so I can get them both at the same time, so the sooner it gets here the better.
DIDnt that Gamefork guy predict GTA: BAAFLC?
Ummm this would be GTA:TBOGT
and
GTA:EFLC.
Gamefork's not looking so reliable at the moment, unless Rockstar have something else up their sleeve.

No. They paid for exclusive downloadable content. ;)
And why have they paid $50mil for this? Are they actually going to make that back?
I cant belive they are going to put both this dlc on disc..
I just got a copy of GTA 4 new for 25 dollars a few months ago.
oh well..

The 50 million was just a loan as Take Two were in financial difficulties, Microsoft makes every penny off the downloads as far as am aware as repayment? So most likely Microsoft will have the 2 exclusives and making a fortune.

Hardly.
1) I have a 360, so I can get the DLC if I want.
2) GTA IV is crap.

Both DLC's take around 8 Hours (well the first did, 2nd supposed to be the same), most games these days aint even 8 hours and cost 3 times more money, i think you underestimate the power of GTA.

i am a stickler for gtasa though. that would be my fave of the series and while gta4 did alot right, i do miss alot when im running around.i always hoped RS would expand on gtasa but wasnt to be.
btw im posting in here cos of the vain hope this dlc will come to ps3 lol oh and that they'll censor appendages:p
I just hope the next GTA is set in Vice City. If it's not, I am not buying it. Oh, and I hope it has Flash FM in it. The exact same Flash FM. Same songs, same script. It was perfection.

We play as Luis!!
Yay, I knew this would happen.
There was a theory before this was released we would play as luis.
http://gtahq.multiplayernetwork.net/images/DLC2.jpg
Reasons to support this theory are his mysterious appearances in Grand Theft Auto IV, and questionable background. This is also suspected due to Niko and Johnny, two protagonists, meet up in the museum, and Luis appears to ambush it. As well as the achievement you get after completing the Museum Piece mission is called "Impossible Trinity", which at first is cryptic, but makes speculative sense: 3 characters have been brought together by almost impossible events.Additionally, all of the GTA IV era protagonists have been arrested for highjacking, which is indeed a law Lopez has broken.

Actually at the end of the OP it says that the 2 dlc's will be available on a disc for $40, and you won't need the original game to play them.

honestly, if some episodes DID come to the PS3 version, I FORCED myself to finish the game. It was boring and overhyped and I sold it so yea I would not play it again

I didn't notice that. I'll still buy a second copy of the game, though. I'm funny about stuff like that.

I hope they come to PS3 someday you lucky *******s. :snicker
I loved GTA IV, I seriously enjoyed TL&D (races with bats, gang missions) & now I get to play as Luis (which I always suspected) who according to LPCD records is known to be involved in underground fight clubs (UFC style missions perhaps?).
I know I want the complete GTA IV experience and I will be enjoying it.
I wonder what and how many clothes, characters, peds, vehicles and weapons their going to be this time around
if they get both on disc ill get em
I wonder what and how many clothes, characters, peds, vehicles and weapons their going to be this time around
As for clothes it may end up being the same as TL&D was, but who knows for sure right now? Expect more music, vehicles, weapons and for the story to be further explained for us that want the total LC experience found in the GTA IV 'universe'.
We all know R* have high production values and with the $20usd DLC (TL&D) they delivered in many areas where $50-60usd games do not. Story line, action, visuals, vehicle mechanics, humor, fun & value for money were all present in the first episode.
Luis is reported to be part of an underground fight club in the LCPD records, [Gay] Tony Prince's body guard and a doorman at 2 of Tony Prince's clubs found in Algonquin, surely we'll see a totally different side of LC than what we saw through the eyes of both Niko Bellic and Johnny Klebitz.
I love the effort R* puts into their games and for this to just be DLC, shows me that R* do DLC right!
P.S; Not to mention there will likely be online modes just as there were with TL&D as there were in the vanilla (GTA IV).
The lost and damn was not worth the 20 bucks i paid. It took months before the glitching issue was resolved and was kind of short. I liked it but overall should have been like $10. Hopefully the can improve on that issue but we ill see.

What glitch are you talking about? I loved TLATD I wish the story wouldve stretched out longer. Billy is one of my favorite video game characters

What glitching issue? Considering there was never an update to "fix" the game I have to question your post.
As for you believing the game was not worth $20 and was short, what part of DLC was missed?
7 hours of game play with new weapons, music, vehicles, characters, side games, online modes, improved game play mechanics and graphics... Like I said some people pay $60USD and get less. I guess it'll always remain a matter of opinion.
yer i never seen any glitches either lol as for being short well it was only the ending that i felt was short but as for the DLC in general i have no complaints about

When will this come out on a disc?
Same time as TBoGT will on Live, expect it late October! Can't wait for the final piece of the puzzle, totally complete & exclusive to the X360.
