Chosen by most sites, the best looking racing game at E3 2006 and I'm not surprised why.
The track and bikes are looking really good, but the backgrounds like trees and such need some work. I'm a big MotoGP fan.
I didn't think the demo looked too good. The screens looked great but it didn't look too hot in motion.
They look decent. Nothing mind blowing. I was more impressed with the earlier screens of this game. Also, in this screen http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/public/3469/664_0002.jpg what the hell is that ugly green thing in the background? I'm not joking, it looks like they lifted that texture straight from an Amiga game.

What happened to the early screens? Those where amazing - the detail was SICK and everything including backgrounds looked amazing. Now it looks so plain - un-interesting. The rider detail is way down from what it was, and in the background cars look like they are modeled in play-doh

But really what happened to the original screens we saw awhile back?
I saw the demo being played on Gamespot. The demo froze a couple of times and they said that it was their "bad" 360, and then the second time they had the real copy of the game which they played. I think it looks pretty good, but nothing that special IMO...
The downloable demo looked pretty good, but wasn't really that fun to play, in my opinion. These screens look great though.

Exactly...
The graphics from the demo were fair, but you can't ignore that it will look better on disc. Demo was ok, fun to play but the textures were eyesores and the brightness from the lighting just might be the answer to the tan i've been wanting.

my eyes, they burn!
jokes aside, i'm not pleased at all. i'll have to see it in person in motion. i've learned screens can be very misleading.
This game doesn't even look good? Dasimpse, do you honestly think motorstorm looks worse than this? Motorstorm looks better in every way, even the background environment, and it has a lot of physics.
The games that keep coming to the xbox360 are just disappointing. If Halo 3 is real time, why don't they just start all over again with this game?
But really what happened to the original screens we saw awhile back?
EXACTLY what I was thinking! First they show these screens with near-lifelike quality but seems like they did the old bait'n'switch trick again.
This is how it looked a while back... better picture for comparsion to the third picture from aquanox.

Oh well , seems that people have been having fun bashing this title.
I'm not going to get into this visuals argument this time but remember this was chosen, not only the best looking racing game but the best racing game overall by people who actually played it at E3. No screenshots no demos but the (almost) real thing.
This game doesn't even look good? Dasimpse, do you honestly think motorstorm looks worse than this? Motorstorm looks better in every way, even the background environment, and it has a lot of physics.
And that category includes Motorstorm as well. Man, if it wasn't about Assassin's Creed the PS3 would've had hardly any presence in the Critics E3 Awards or most sites awards. If you think the 360 titles are dissapointing then well, it'd almost scare me to hear what do you think about the PS3 ones compared to what they were suppossed to be. :?
This is what I'm talking about, 4 paragraphs of pure visuals, psysics and gameplay praising:
Visually, the unfinished build of MotoGP 06 we played already rivals tbhe rest of the 360 library for best-looking game. Climax did a fantastic job of separating the rider and bike into two unique entities, which helps the game both visually and in terms of gameplay. You feel the weight of the rider making a difference; you feel leans helping you accelerate and break. They also help you crash quite easily if you lean the wrong way.
In addition to the realistic feel, the bikes look like their real-life counterparts, with realistic physics playing with all parts of the bike, causing various bits to shake, rattle, and sometimes even roll out from under you during the race. Both the bikes and the riders are a feast for the eyes, and the contextual reactions from the other riders, such waving their fists if you tap them while trying to pass, submerse you even further into the realistic racing world that Climax has created in MotoGP 06.
Combined, a bike and rider total more than 40,000 polygons. You'll notice every crease in a rider's suit, every glint of light off his helmet, authentic buildings and landscapes, and amazing shadows. Oh, the shadows! Everything in this game casts a shadow: the clouds, the riders, the stands, the bikes, the spokes...yes, even the spokes! MotoGP 06 simply sports an extreme level of detail.
Not only does the lighting look good, but it behaves properly as well, and materials in the game world behave as they would in the real world. The black rubber in your wheels absorbs light, which gives them a matte finish. On the other hand, the dark carbon fiber sections of your bike reflect light, giving them a polished gloss. With features like High Dynamic Range Lighting and the dedicated grass shader -- yes, even blades of grass got the visual overhaul -- MotoGP 06 looks amazing.

The track looks good... but I wasn't exactly blown away by any of those screens. :?

Same goes for Gears of War and Mass Effect. But I never saw your favorite Too Human. That was supposed to be amazing. Didn't turn out to be. :?

Excuse me?
My Top favorites has always been the ones in my sig, specially Mass Effect. What are you talking about?
Besides, I recognized that Too Human didn't live up, so what's the big deal? Microsoft is still the man to beat in what comes to games.
Sillicon Knights still have plenty of time to work on the character animations and interaction, which is what annoyed people the most, because the visuals were indeed gorgeous. The game still has potential which is more than I could say about other "promising" games in other platforms.

I'm sick of saying this, but that is purely down to your preference in games. For me there are a lot more AAA potential PS3 games than there are for the 360. Thats including sequals and new IP's.
Lmao...Microsft will never be half the man that Sony or even Nintendo are for that matter *tries to start flame war* but on a serious note, this game looks good but seems downgraded from the previous screens they showed a while back...
Lmao...Microsft will never be half the man that Sony or even Nintendo are for that matter *tries to start flame war*.
Most people at E3 disagree with that statement after the show.

Aquaaa dude, you kinda forgot about "on a serious note" part, I was joking man and I'm not most people. I still think that Sony and Nintendo are still the men to look up to simply due to experience and value that they've brought to us gamers over the years...just a matter of opinion

I'm sorry, but this looks horrible. In motion it wasn't that great, but these pictures look horrible. This won awards? lol, that's a shame. Maybe the final product will look mindblowing. I won't doubt that. But this isn't anything to brag about, nevermind be excited over.
Aquanox, Microsoft are not the ones to beat. Sony could get away with selling a console for $600, while Microsoft could barely convince people to buy their console for much lower, around half of that over in Japan, and even around here.
Sure, there are some great games coming out for the X360, but nothing Sony couldn't topple in 2007 easily with the better dev support and more disc space allowing devs to add more, leaving them to develope exclusively for the PS3.
Sure, out of the 3 consoles, I prefer the x360 over the Wii, but my PS3 is going to be the most used, and i'm sure most will feel this way if they own all 3 consoles (like me... in the near future).
I think that these screens are from the final product. Considering they'll be releasing this game in 11 days, I can't see them do much polishing to the game in that short timespan.

That's understandable comming from a harcore PS3 fan. But don't expect everyone to think the same as you. I'm not talking about personal preferences thought but about prestigious (and lately bitching) websites opinions.
And by the way, I don't know which convincing problems are you talking about. I even recall lots of people buying it for more than $1000 and that was in a time much less produtive in software than it will be in this holidays.

This game is absolutely, HORRENDOUS.
Sense of speed is WAY off, the graphics are sub par at best... and the life-like mechanics are simply a joke. I race bikes for real, and the sense of motion and turning capabilities on this game are simply disgraceful. I played with the Repsol edition, 1000RR - I mashed the throttle and to my great suprise, the bike gently climbed up the tach and continued on smoothly through the gears.
You're kidding right?
Doing that, to that bike, should have PLANTED me on my ass. Tourist Trophy on PS2 blows this game out of the stratopshere.

Played the deom and it must of been one of the worst motorcycle racing games I have ver played. I didnt even finsih the race I was so ticked off at it. I deleted it mmediately after! The only thing I will say good about the game is that the graphics were top notch for my standards anyways.
Downg****d! Had to censor it, I hate that word it has been so missused the last couple of months. :p
This game looked so cool on old pics, now it looks average.

How can you compare 4 far away, rear racing screenshots to close up shots.
I can promise you this game looks EXACTLY the same as those shots. i advise people to load up the demo do the race and then watch a replay!!
This game is amazing , no offence to people who are dissing it. It takes a few goes you have front and rear brakes, and once mastered is one of the most rewarding games to play once hooked upto live.
The mugello course on the demo is one of the most played tracks on xbox live EVER. shaving your times to get higher up the ranks. 16 player online is AMAZING. i admit its not for all but hey.
and Oh to people that want to hate. PLAY THE GAME, DO THE REPLAY, GET CLOSE UP TO THE RIDER!!! like that screenshot above. You should wish a rider on motorstorm would look like that ;)
seriousley though. If your a Moto GP fan, like myself this game is amazing. And defo the choice over tourist trophy ANY DAY of the week.
peace out

this game looks really awesome.
cant waite to pick it up
The image shown by Jugix seriously looked mind blowing, I'm a fan of all the 3 consoles but I sort of expect those kinds of graphics on the PS3. That's nt taking a shot @ the XBOX360 as it's my favorite console right now however the other pictures after seeing the one from Jugix have upset me a little.
I haven't downloaded the demo from Live however is the game on Live the completed product?

If you havnt played MOTO GP on xbox before i advise you to try it. nearly every single Games player/Magazine and website will say it is the Motorcycle game of choice. I know a couple of people prefer tourist trophy on here lol but yeh each to their own.
I love the game. its very realistically simulation wise.
I ride motorcycles and own a 600 cc yamaha and its very real how u must balance your rear and front breaks, great racing lines.
I promise you at first you will fall off on nearly every corner and think it sucks. but imagine riding a bike full speed into a corner and expecting to turn. You will DIE not torn.
Drop off the throttle a bit before the corner, let the gears slow you down get on the rear break a little and lean into that corner AND THEN FULL THROTTLE OUT!!!!
You get such a rush on moto gp 06 and others when you get it right, then its just applying that to every corner and rush your head off.
Or play tourist trophy, some people have told me its better. From what i saw it got nothing but low average scores though :S and how many bikes on a track? 6 is it?
do you wanna race 6 riders or 20?
and if you love the Gp theres all the riders on here!, i dont know if all the famous riders are on Tourist trophy?
TT got low scores because of the fact that its only got 4 bikes on track and the career mode is a bit sucky since you don't buy but win bikes. The gameplay itself however is the most realistic and best representation of motorbike riding in a game yet. Even the moto GP team appauded it. But Moto GP isn't aiming to be realistic, it aims to be fun. As a result it is more of an arcade racer than a simulation racer. It takes assets from simulation riding, but not enough to be classed as a true simulation. I personally prefer TT and have never liked Moto. But each to their own.

Are you playing moto Gp on PS2. Or on the xbox?
Are you playing moto Gp on PS2. Or on the xbox?
PS2 I played it on. Ended up trading it in beacuse I disliked it so much. Its the gameplay mechanics that annoyed me. It tries to find a balance between realism and arcade but just fails IMO. It just makes things confused.

Ahhhh thats the reason why then lol.
Im talking about the XBOX verison, its not made by namco and its FAR from average.
Its published BY THQ. Moto Gp on xbox is a completely different game than Moto Gp on PS2 :D
Moto GP & Moto GP2 on the XBOX are awesome and I got to say they were the maddest motor bike games I've come across. I have backups on my XBOX HDD of these 2 games and play them both still.

:suspect: You sure about that?
Holy... its true  . Thats the 1st time I've heard of that before in my life. 2 games, same name, different makers. Strange.

Just a note here, lowest score i ever saw for TT was actually 8, and i don't know how that can be bad considering its basically being put down a little bit for not having an online mode, 4 bikes on track, and a not so in-depth multiplayer mode.
And, it is running on the PS2. Moto GP is running on a next gen system, so there's the answer about the riders on track. Even like that, both games are being compared, and well, Moto GP looks good but i cant tell too much about it as i've only seen one low-resolution video that doesn't reveal much really.
