Will a PSP 2000 battery work with the PSP 1000???

yes it does. However it will not fit properly and is loose, a PSP 1000 batter will also work in a 2000 series, but you will need to purchase a large battery cover (available on eBay).
The 2000 series battery will also give less battery life on the 1000 series.
