Somebody started this theory here http://boards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=88522017&start=88665103 . It is actually pretty good.
The Mario Artist apps can be great fun, but unless Nintendo finds a better way to make them accessible to its gaming audience, they will be forever doomed to obscurity. Great ideas and good execution -- wrong format." (Quote from IGN).
I think that quote says it all...
If you want to know what "part" of the Revolution's "revolutionary" features are going to be, then seriously, read these three articles from IGN, all the way through, check out the images too, and if you have an IGN Insider account watch the movies...

There were also a few other games planned in the Mario Artist series...
Mario Artist: Graphical Message Maker
Mario Artist: Sound Maker
Mario Artist: Video Jockey Maker
and last but most certainly not least, since I believe it holds the key to one of the fundamental principles behind Revolution,
Mario Artist: GAME MAKER
This it the biggest indication of one of the main features for Revolution that you are going to get.
And don't you dare doubt me!
LOL
"We're Trying to do Something Different" (Nintendo's Marko Hein)
Here are some of those quotes I was talking about (All from Nintendo's press conference, apart from the first quote they were all said during Iwata's speech when he revealed the Revolution):
"use your right brains" (said about 5 times by Reggie. The right brain is used for spacial abilities, face recognition, visual imagery, music etc)
"512MB of on-borad Flash memory...option to add SD memory cards"
"we will also be incorporating our own (some word I can't make out) rights managment software to deter sharing of intelectual property"
"I hope you will let me create some elements of mystery to my further remarks today...look at this as a form of puzzle game"
"when you turn on Revolution and see the graphics you will say WOW!"
"the advances in our technology will also relate to areas that have no direct bearing on gameplay...I know this is one of those mysterious comments"
"in the next generation the addition of the internet will be important to all consoles, and particularly important to nintendo"
"how these 4 elements...interact with each other forms a central difference in Revolution design"
"our goal in customising these connections is to develop a device...which is funtional and appealing to every member of a household, whether they consider themselves gamers or not...it is right for everyone"
"in fact it is the game experience that will most seperate Revolution from it's competitors"
"Revolution will act to create entirely new genres to expand the definition of video game"
"they will appreciate our creative approach"
"here Revoultion also earns it's name. we are convinced game creation on Revolution can be the most developer friendly. Simpler, faster and less expensive than any other new system"
"this is a console where the big idea can prevail over big budgets"
"Nintendo Revolution shares a common vision with one we outlined for Nintendo DS last year. The machine is just a tool (pauses), the experience comes from the software. So let me conclude with one more hint. Those of you who consider the possibilities of combining embeded content, with an internet connection, and a wireless connection, and our Flash memory, may begin to make educated guesses on what game experience we might be constructing."
"we will even draw non-gamers to our Revolution...Showing them how much fun there is in what we all do for a living"
"...and more imagination in defining what a videogame can be"
"what touches their heart...still touches my heart"
