Hey everyone, I got MGS4 last november and have enjoyed the story and missions, and a couple of months ago I thought I would try out metal gear online. Now once I clicked on the mode, after going through a few screens I started downloading MGO, and there was little movement, so I quit the download and forgot about it until this week. I was wondering how big the file size is roughly because since I only have 512k broadband currently, I was wondering whether I should wait until I get 8mb or 16mb in october, thanks for you time , please answer if you know how big it is :P

I say you should wait, because the better the connection, the smoother your experience with this game will be.

Let me get this straight, you just started playing MGO? If so, be prepared for a big file update download....

P2P should speed it up otherwise you use HTTP download. Leave the PS3 on when you go to sleep when it downloads the update or just simply wait until it finishes the download. Shouldn't take that long.
At a guess i would say 200-300MB but be warned once downloaded u still have to faff around creating 2 stupid seperate ID's before u can play.

I had more success with HTTP. It really depends on timing I suppose. When I downloaded the latest patch, it had been long released, so I didn't expect many people to download it at the same time. When I do HTTP, it takes 10 minutes at the most.

..And that's how big the game is, FILESIZE wise..
Actually playing the game, you'll have fun. It's more Metal Gear style than yer typical point n shoot type shooter (Ie. Call of Doody). It's a hundred times slower gameplay than Unreal Tournament, but a bizzilione times more accurate.
The whole stats thing was a massive suprise to me, I love it though, gives you something to work towards. That, plus all the reward point clothes...
HINT-
NAKED top + Mohawk = Win.
Oh yeah, and trust me, get the expansion. (Obviously the one with the 3 expansions together..) It'll cost a tenner, but it's worth it! Get to play as the NPC's dammit, like Raiden!!!
And the new maps... Well! They chuck masses of variety into the mix.
Though most people who play are 12 and don't have the ability to buy online stuff so you'll find it difficult sometimes to find anyone witht he expansions lolol.
ADD ME!
EDIT-
Oh yeah, and if you think you're good at Metal Gear, just like I did, then good luck. You'll soon find out that you are nothing more than just one tiny ripple in this massive ocean..

So, why do we have to create seperate ID's?

Wait.
The way Konami set up MGO is appalling. Don't even bother. Especially with your connection right now.

Don't bother with MGO. By the time all the updates finish downloading PS4 will have come out and everyone will be playing MGS7. I'm serious.

I would, if i had finished MGS4, and was bored :p
No one plays MGO.
Wait, you can't POSSIBLY be serious when you say that MGO is unpopulated. Believe me when I say that I play it on a daily basis. People play MGO from day-in to day-out. Get your facts straight before you start posting things like that.

LAWLZ.
Pretty much everytime I go on, there's 2 full rooms on Free Battle? (Over 900 players each).
Please.
There's HARDLY any players on Unreal Tournament III, but there's still more than enough to have fresh battles with.
I take it you're the type of gamer that plays CoD??
Go play MAG.

@ Red Devil 1000,s of ppl play MGO everyday usually the first 2 servers are full at peak hours
I haven't been able to update MGO since last summer. It takes 4 hours to download then the installation always fails.
Not very good anyway, my advice is don't waste your time on it.
It's too bad that Konami really screwed up the sign up process for MGO, because it is a really solid and enjoyable online game.
I had tons of fun until I forgot my password and was asked to pay 6$ just to create a new account. Sigh.
MGO is a joke I played the beta and the HUD looked very crap and unfinished which I thought would change when the game was released but it did not its still too full of crap that obscures your view.
Thats before the stupid TWO signup things whichI have now forgotten both so after I finally download the updates which take forever as others have said I then need to reset my password to a username Ido not know.
NO thanks Konami I thin I will stick with Quantum physics its easier.

Yeah I just gave after an hour of downloading updates. Konami's online infrastructure flat out sucks.

MGO is a very solid game online if you can get passed Konami's botched online setup. MGO was more satisfying than Killzone 2 or Resistance 2 in MANY many ways...
