View Full Version : Always wondered about R2 and L2 buttons for PSone classics on a PSP
How do they work on a PSP?
Some PSone classics obviously use the L2 and R2 shoulders buttons, but, how are they managed on the PSP?

When playing PSone games on a PSP you can push the "HOME" button and custom set the controls, most games have the L2 and R2 somehow implemented. Usually the one analog is used for controls whilst the directional buttons for other stuff.
generally it works out well, otherwise you can mess around with what you want to control with certain games (usually presets).

Left and right on the analog stick or if you want R2/L2 on the shoulders press PS and swap them.
It works because using the analogs on PSOne games wasn't mandatory (because the DS didn't launch until 1998)

Only really to highlight enemies in battle and change the camera perspective in the world map..so you won't need them.

If you move the PSP nub, analogue stick thing it preforms these actions :)
For Twisted Metal 2 I assigned the L2 and R2 to L and R and I assigned the L1 and R1 commands to the analog stick (since I control direction with the dpad anyways). Works great.

Its usually the analog stick, if only it had R2 & L2 I'm sure Sony can find a way then they release the next generation of Playstation portable gaming!!
