I want Zelda for my PS3.
uh, the greatest video game series ever...this game called Mario?
BTW, since Nintendo will never go out of business, has anyone seen the new Zelda screens, I might consider getting a Wii just for the next Zelda...Link actually looks like he can kick some butt!

As much as I love Nintendo and wouldnt want them to fail as a company it would be pretty cool if they went down the Sega route and released software only and on all platforms. Answer to your question would be Mario and Zelda. Unfortunately the success of the DS alone should ensure Nintendos participation in hardware continues

Nintendo will live...they never sell at a loss....
The only real bad thing i see hapening to nintendo is that they won't ever be able to compete directly with ms and sony.
You can't expect to win big if you don't take big risks!!!!!!!!!!!

In many ways with the Wii they are taking the stance that they dont need/have/want to compete with MS and Sony. Instead of competing for a share of the existing market they are hoping to expand the market and find within it their own niche. Could work, in Edge magazine there was an interview with a Nintendo executive ( cant recall name) and he said the game brain training on the DS was aimed and busy professionals who dont have the time to commit long hours to a game and instead want something they can play for 10 mins or so every day. I can relate to this and think such a market does exist

I agree!
Although I personally donate more time to videogames. But would also want
exactly that. Fun for half an hour.
I'd love to see metroid on the PS3.
Not fussed by the other games except....
SUPERSMASHBROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
I want... :D :) :( :x

There's always something special about Nintendo games that makes you able to ignore how good (or bad) the graphics are and just enjoy the games for what they are.
With that in mind I don't think its so bad that Nintendo stay one step behind the curve in terms of graphics so I'll be quite happy if they just keep on trucking on the wii.
If they did screw up and had to stop producing consoles I don't think anyone would complain about Zelda, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart and Mario in 1080p.
If one Nintendo game could be brought over to the PS3, I would hope its Zelda. You can make a case that at least 3 of the Zelda games were the greatest games of all time. Knowing how great a franchise Zelda is, they know their consoles will always have a place as long as people still have love for that cute italian plumber and that elf that never ages. Which is why I'm comfortable spending 250 on a Wii and another 50 on Zelda just so that I can play that darn game, and I think their riding on the fact that others will too. Still, I think its an extremely bold (or desperate) move for Nintendo to try and create their own market, even though they created and owned the video game market back in the 80's until Sony and MS pushed them into a niche, which oddly enough is what Sony might be trying to do with their motion sensing controller.
Still, the video game world will always need and support the innovations of Nintendo much like the computer world needs creative companies like Apple to take the industry in the right direction.

I think Nintendo are better at making games than they are consoles. To go down the Sega route and create AAA quality third party games would be massive for them. They will be using MS' and Sony's userbases, and won't just have to stick to their own, which many say will be small. I must agree with that because i don't think anyone over 18 who leads a normal life has the energy to expend flailing about a controller as a form of relaxation (not a big fan of motion sensing controllers). I sure don't, having a job, a girlfriend and attending uni jus leaves a man too tired i tell u.
But anyway i don't think Nintendo would go out of business, if they turned into a software developer only, it would be out of their own choice. Imagine the increased amount of revenue if we saw Zelda on Xbox and PS as opposed to just Nintendo? Or even Mario, the money they would get would be IMMENSE. But you have to weigh up the costs n benefits of both routes first.
However, to do such a thing would be very unorthodox for Nintendo. They like to innovate, and they do so in their hardware, and software follows the hardware. To drop the hardware aspect would be to lose the core of Nintendo.
I would love to see a first party Nintendo game go multi-platform though.
A man can dream.... :(

Nintendo is more timid right now. Post-E3, they looked really strong, but I guess people's sticker shock wore off, and PS3 is still king. Nintendo will do what it must to stay profitable, this gen, but I can't see them knocking out PS3. The graphics of the Wii will offset the positives of the controller. They have been smart to hide their graphics, but if you see a wii demo next to a PS3 one in a store, your eye is gonna go to ps3.
I agree that I think nintendo would make more money making handhelds and just console games....especially if they become third place again this gen.
As for games on other consoles...mainly just animal crossing....nintendo has used and abused all their characters too many times...HELL they made a metroid pinball game!
They need to start creating new characters....before Mario is signed up for his 200th+ game (Not that far away!)
They are creating new characters for their next Super Smash Bros Melee game. I for one still would like to see the adventures of Mario and Link continue. New characters this late in Nintendo's history wouldn't be taken seriously.

Well, if Nintendo goes out of buisness, I bet they would probably sell the rights to the highest bidder. Sony, Microsoft, and EA would be out for it. And it would be a battle with Microsoft and EA. If it goes to EA it would go on all consoles. If it goes to Microsoft, it'll go to the Xbox.
But most likely they won't since they're still in their prime with the handheld buisness. So we're talkin' ten to twenty years.
I hope the rights go to Sony though. If Sony's still in the buisness then too.

Yeah I beileve Sony would get it becasue they shared somethings in the past and there Japanese so, lol. But Nintentdo I think gonna live altho I would'nt care if it did die lol. But there are alot of ppl that like it... but it is really for the littler kids, lol. I also say it gonna not die for sometime do to it gonna be big in Japan stll as a 2th console to PS3 or even a main console to some ppl over there and even here too, lol.
Nintendo, like Apple will never die. The industry giants like Microsoft and Sony need these companies to do their innovating for them although they'll never admit it.

Maybe they dont need them but there is no denying that Nintendo has been great for the games industry and iff they suceed in expanding the gaming market with the Wii then that will have a knock on benefit for Sony and MS.

Well how I see it is PS3 selling best, Wii selling 2th best, and xbox360 selling the worse. Well... right now it's ps2 selling the best and more then xbox360, lol. So ps2 might beat the wii or not but oh well, lol.

this wont happen... remember that nintendo has the "god of gaming" (i forgot his name though...) and because nintendo became one of the pioneers of the gaming industry...
Yes, Nintendo has Shingeru Miyamoto.
Nintendo will never go out of business so stop dreaming (or nightmar-ing)
Third party publisher? Perhaps, we'll know the answer in the next-next generation of consoles.
I actually wouldn't mind if Nintendo became like SEGA. That would free them up from working on hardware and allow them to focus entirely on gameplay innovation.

Thing is, look at their hardware. It's deliberately against the grain, and we need that to add some pep to what would otherwise just be a dull MS vs Sony corporate war of attrition. I agree that Nintendo would make a fantastic Sega-esque developer, but I think they have the quality of hardware design to warrant a place in the console market.
Of cousre, Ninty could just team up with one of the others to work on control devices, leaving main console hardware up to their ally..
I completely agree, Nintendo is better at making games than they are consoles in my opinion. Thats what has kept gamecube alive in a market where the xbox and ps2 were graphically dominant.
Going the route of Sega, they could put effort solely into games. I dont really consider this to be a bad thing, and im afraid the Wii is going to show its age only a year into its release, graphic wise.
I dont see this happening though, Nintendo likes to support their own consoles and to see a switch into pure gaming wouldnt happen until a few years after Wii's release, if it even occurs then.

Yea, I'm sure they could have sold the Wiimote and sensor bar as a Gamecube add-on.

They want to repackage the Wii stuff cuz the Wii has online, and it also will generate excitement. The Wii is also a bit beefier than the GC, its about as strong as an Xbox, which makes one wonder, why bother changing the processing speed that little.
I really think that Sony should team up with Nintendo, Sony builds the consoles, and Nintendo takes care of the games. Sony is more of an electronics company, so they would do well with the hardware end, and Nintendo can take care of the games. Obviously, theres gonna be overlap. This was Sony's original plan, but Nintendo stabbed em in the back so they went solo. People wanna spew crap at Sony every day and praise Nintendo, but love to forget this.

Well that would never work cause like their original alliance, Sony wants a percent of EVERYTHING, even the games nintendo makes...:P Nintendo would go out of business and eventually become sony, if that merger happened...:P
As for Miyamoto being a gaming god....he was, recently he made a statement claiming he will only develope games that utilize motion, and he will never use the conventional controller agian....in translation....he won't be making anymore good games from now on....unless motion fails and he is forced to go back to his roots...
