sometimes when browsing recently i'll click to goto next page of thread and a box to log into triple tag appears?
anyone else getting this, and what is it, and why is it popping up.
ive never heard of triple tags

yeah i have had that once too. i think it would be best to ignore it.

ignoring something isnt a solution..i want to know why it pops up and how to prevent it...there must be a reason it happens.
of course. but do you think i have that reason?
i think Seb would be the only person who knows why it pops up.

i never asked you for a reason , but saying ignore it helps no one.

it must be a bug or something cos it never used to do it , and i dont want to click x everytime it happens so ignoring isnt an option.
maybe seb could take time to check this out and offer an explanation

TripleTags is a website where people create custom PS3 forum tags. Someone on the site, specifically in that thread [ http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106154&page=2 ] is using it.
The problem is the site www.tripletags.com (http://www.tripletags.com) has a server side error. It is therefore prompting you to login to access the tag.

seems u are right ....the user BrandonCGS seems to be causing it in that thread , but it probarly affects more users too

I don't appear to get this. I think it is because I have a laptop, and therefore, don't get prompted to enter my username and password in everytime, because I don't have one.

Ive had it happen 4 times today. Very random
not as random as you think. triple tags is an image hosting site and anyone who has a sig uploaded to it is causing the message to pop up.

Happened to me a few times yesterday. A little annoying. And I only use imageshack for my hosting.

Perhaps a rule should be made so that such images are not allowed. It's a bit of an annoyance, and I don't want to have to deal with it every single time someone uses that site for their hosting. It's not that big of a deal, but there are plenty of other hosting sites people could use, and then, everyone would be happy. ( except Triple Tags :snicker )

There are enough rules as there is. Adding any more on would make users think we are limited to do so much on this forum, and then a bunch of members leave. A rule shouldn't have to be made everytime someone has a problem. There's a better solution.
In the Admin Panel, see if you can disable links. Add a new link with the address of the Triple Tags website to block anything what comes from that website.
This should solve the problem...
If you don't have this tab in the ACP, see if there is a Mod for it. I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a shot!

I know its a pain, But more rules will make people less willing to come and sign up onto the forum. Also members will feel suffocated with all the new rules to prevent this.

I just got this then. Twice in one thread. Entered, seen the message, pressed cancel, made post, seen it again. Just keep on pressing cancel. Not that much of a pain.
do you not have a sig checker for spam links. If not
then it might be a good idea to have one, I am not telling you what to do.

the sigs themselves are not showing up (only in the ModCP) so i doubt anyone will continue to use it.
could anyone who does come across a thread please post the thread here so i can check for the offending sigs.
While my initial concern this TripleTags popup may be harmful seems to be unfounded, this is rather annoying. Luckily it doesn't happen that often but it's a nuisance to have to click off some popup window imho. Thats one of the reasons I use AdBlock Plus...
If this happens to you while viewing a thread, you can find out which user's sig is causing this by opening the source code (Ctrl+U in FF) and search for tripletag. I've stumbled upon two users on the first page of this thread (http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127962) and PMed their names to you, Gilly.
Should really get rid of those and just ban this service from PSU... :bang:
