Everyone is telling me this "STEEL WOOL" and "Screwdriver" story, Like Leflin I ask you to believe; so I ASK you BELIEVERS, to take a steel wool pad to your BLU-RAY disks, and follow it up with a NICE little Screwdriver (SLOTTED PLEASE) across the VIRGIN, and I know NEVER played surface of your disks, WHEN and IF you get a PS3 you can tell me how they work! I am sure they will be fine.....ARE YOU?

ill do it!!!...but thats gonna be at least 6 months from now..ill tell u how it goes.
But u know what if it ends up gettign mess up...still end up better than a dvd or HD-DVD that u do that test too
Why would I want to do that? Potentially damage a disk on purpose? The cotaing is not there to be scuffed with steel wool or stabbed with a screwdriver, it's there to help protect it from general wear and tear better than normal DVDs. I don't care what the promotional stuff says it can'can't handle.
Your spanking new PS3 should be totally safe if you drop it into a tank of pure, distilled, de-ionised water. Will you do it? No, of course not, so why create this thread?!
why in gods name would i do it go out and buy a cheap blue ray movie and do it yourself!! im not wasting my money to potentially ruin one of my movies
Don't worry there will be a demo disc with the Ps3 you can try it out on that when you get bored of it. As for the surface, I got one of armored discs and they will take anything. TDK actually packed in steel wool for all the demo reviews of the disc they where so confident of the quality.
You want have to worry about your games on Ps3 one bit, also takes the worry out of buying a second hand game knowing what it takes to kill the discs.
yeah i was going to say that those crappy demo discs that come with the PS3 i'll scratch but not my £50 game even if i know for a fact it'll work afterwards.

The human body is pretty fexible, why don't you twist your arms to see how far you can go.
Yeah, lets take a screwdriver to my blu-ray disk...yeah, that'll go over well.

Sounds like most people arent as confident in Sony's coating as Sony is.  Of course most of the posts were explained away with really bad, mocking, excuses.

Unlike this guy, the Lex Luthor in Superman was actually smart, and did not act stupid.
Terminator had better one liners. :P

I bought a bluray movie to test the coating. The coating is pretty tough. It took me hitting it with a hammer 13 times to break the disc but there were no other scratchs from taking nails and screwdrivers on it just the dents from the hammer.
