Clarification Regarding no adverts and clan site links

This post is to clear up some confusion regarding the No advertising rule and people being able to post links to their clan site.


14. No Advertising Other Sites - We employ a strict "no advertising" policy. Obviously, linking to sources of articles is okay - however posting links in order to send traffic to those sites is unacceptable. Such posts will be removed and the member will be warned.

This rule is meant to prevent spammers, and people using this site to help gain traffic to their site, for financial gain. I don't think I need to go into great detail to explain that to you.

So in short, you are allowed to post links to your clans forums/website, as long it is not full of ad-banners or anything else that might be considered, by the staff, as unfit.
I hope this clears a few things up. Good luck with the clan recruiting and all that, and any questions about this can be posted in this thread.

yeah this does clarify things a lot more, but the bit i bolded is still unclear. is that just anything that mite break other rules ???

yes pretty much, to give an example only, we dont allow links to porn sites here so if I click on the link and the site is just a clan for watching porn(extreme example here), then the link most likely would be removed. That said I don't think we will be investigating ever link with a "fine tooth comb" or anything.
it really is just case by case and we feel that linking to that site in some way breaks the rules then the link could be removed. Hope that clears it up for you

Thanks for the clarification, for whatever reason, I had been led to believe that all links were outlawed, despite their purpose. Half of my reported posts were because of those very links. :lol:

It makes a lot more sense now, though, as I always thought it was a bit unfair that a simple link to a clan's site was not allowed... Well, apparently it always was!

Thanks For Clearing that up Agriel as ive had my Clan website link removed twice by Staff and with the threat of an infraction if i posted it again.
