View Full Version : Question?
Is there a difference between a newly manufactured PS2 then the ones first released?
To the best of my knowledge - no. Sony have developed new fabrication methods making cheaper for them to manufacture the consoles, and thus meaning they can charge lower prices without incuring such...
Well the first consoles released usually have bugs and malfunctions of all sorts which some then get recalled. Other than that, remember Sony releases many different versions over the years with simple upgrades and the sort but nothing dramatic. So your really better off getting a later PS2 but it's not going to make much of a difference.

Is there a difference between a newly manufactured PS2 then the ones first released?
actually there have been a few changes, as blake said nothing major but worth putting here
the latest ps2's have quieter fans
and the latest ps2's have a built in DVD remote receiver just like the silver ps2's
nothing else worth saying that i know of here

I feel the ps2 of ones first released is better than a newly manufactured

So you would rather have one that is noisier, doesn’t have a built in DVD remote receiver and is far more likely to get disc read error?

I didn't buy remote control. The remote control did not sell in China. 30000SERIES have a built in DVD remote receiver. I means the quantity of 30000SERIES is better than that of 5000SERIES, but 30000SERIES is much noisier.

well doesn't the slimline ps2 also have a place for wireless headphones? because one of my friends that owns one has told me that
There is one change in newer models, the dvd read speed.
Most of the originals were at around 1.40 or something, newer models are higher than that.
The official remote also has a disc to replace the software that reads the dvds to at least get a faster read time, but overall thats it i think.
If you want you can check what yours is, press triangle at the system menu, its on there, as far as i know the CD one hasnt changed

Lair Screen...Real or Not?
By: Justin Pinter
Recently a new screenshot of Factor 5's "Lair" was leaked onto the internet by CVG and from the looks of it, it's unlike anything gamers have seen. It's beautiful!
In case you didn't know anything about this game, "Lair" is a next gen PS3 title that takes you way back to the times of knights and dragons. From the looks of it, the game will inquire 3rd. person camera angles and you'll be able to fly your dragon through the clouds and rain fighting amoung thousands of other dragons. Also, just to put the graphics into perspective, the dragons are made up of 170,000 polygons and 10 different layers of texturing.
Since its release, people have been discussing the creditability of the image and talks of it being photoshoped with a fake HUD. Which does bring up an intresting question. If Lair already has a HUD wouldn't this mean the game is near complete? Which in that case fits the announcement of Lair possibly being a PS3 launch title.
One thing I do know is that, if its real, its gorgeous and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
