how can this be? they are charging us for info? let them have it, i'm still goin to notice it when i buy the game
and i thought EA was bettering after seeing some interesting EA games
They can suck my dick. First they do their rubbish yearly updates where they add one new feature and slap a £40 price tag on it again and now this? EA can go to hell.
nice to know that EA can flex their Microtransaction muscle.
lol, EA dont have a clue do they.

EA really needs to clean up their act as they are slowly spiraling downward of being one of the most hated game developers.

Awwww damn it! Just as I was starting to like them again they come and do this. EA is evil! :?
well, someone will record it anyways and post it for free all over the internet...so basically people are going to hate EA for this, but at the same time probably see the video anyways lol.
I personally don't give a shit about the video and probably wouldn't watch it if it was free. But I see this costing EA much more(in lost sales by pissed off consumers) than they make selling this advertisement. I won't even pay for demos, much less trailers. If they want to sell me a game, great, but don't try to sell me a game by charging for a trailer. This would put a sour taste in my mouth for any dev doing this. And I'm also pissed about the out of control pricing on DL content. I hope people quit buying over-priced crap so the price will come down. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for paying for additional content as it costs them something to make it, but they are raking massive profits off this stuff right now.

EA hits another low. :no
I've already made up my mind. I'm not buying another Madden game. I've played Madden 98, I've played them all.

We should all start a huge boycott of EA! The only game they make which I like is NFS and thats it, and I could live without it.
lol, sorry, no boycott here...Madden 07 looks great, and I need my football game.

Good thing most of the games they make anymore suck. This just gives us an extra reason to not even bother watching the trailers.

19.95 to watch a what 2 to 3 min tailer? if so it has to have more content than just a trailer everybody knows how short they are lol what a total ripoff sounds like EA is taking a page out of the M$ book and making money off of just about anything.

Yeah its pretty bad when PS3, 360 and Wii fans alike all hate EA. Thats downright pathetic.

That is so pitiful. They are already disgustingly rich because of their constant milking of rehashed titles.

i just wish that one day everyone would stop buying EA games, then they would probably make better games
there are only a few EA games i like and those are:
games by burnout developers
1 or 2 need for speed games
medal of honor frontline and allied assault

Did anyone notice the poll on Gamespot about this little issue? Doesn't seem like too many people are thrilled about paying to view a video. I wish EA would just disappear....

OMG. Paying $20 to watch a hour long trailer feels like a ripoff. EA should have make it free, or there's going to be some problems for them.

It's really not that hard, just don't watch it. EA will have spent a huge chunk of time putting together an hour-long "special" for nothing.
EA sux everyone knows this....I could watch 2 full lenght movies, Superman & Miami Vice for $20.....EA should die a slow painful death.....
by the way I love 2k Games/2k Sports those guys are the best at sports games. :D
EA expects there trailers to sell like Hotcakes? NO WAY IN HELL. EA mite only sell 3 trailers IMO...
WarshadowFH
07-28-2006, 12:39
Yeah I saw that its a waste of money imo. Madden meh I'll pass i rather play football in RL than in a video game. Ea will get money out of this my cousin is going to pay for this special

wouldnt EA make a bigger profit if these trailers were for free?

if you charge for these trailers only madden fans MIGHT buy the trailer but if you dont charge for it and give it away for free...
Wow, I was thinking stuff like this would be free on Live.. I'll be perfectly honest here, I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come for gaming in general.

I dont think this is a sign of things to come. If you ask me the only company that would sink so low to force consumers to fork over money to watch a video is EA. I bet after they realize that it won't sell at all they won't do it again. Man I hate EA....

After BFME debacle, whats next? Pre-order Madden '08 now and be able to use all the teams when it launches? Or maybe, buy the fundamental game, and buy each team for $5... :?

That would be good in some ways and bad in others. What if they do die and then no-one takes on the NFL games? What if no one makes games like Burnout? What if no one makes games like Need For Speed? You get my point by now. It could not happen to a better company but we the consumer would loose a lot (suppose only a couple) of good games .

From what I read, this is a pay per view special HOUR long Madden 07 feature... 19.95 does seem a tad high, but as a business they have every right to charge for it... Behind the scenes, tips, and...

Actually... the guys on the 1up yours podcast brought this up when the $15 GRAW map pack came out on 360 marketplace.
They all personally predicted in their opinions that Sony's is likely to be worse in the nickel and dime us to death micropayment aspect.
Or as Luke Smith (the light in the loafers guy) calls them....Micro-RAPE-ments.
He basically said that with people buying up the $15 GRAW pack, it's giving Sony and it's devs a green light to ...as he put it....."we can rape these idiots".
After all....Sony did say that it's model to offset costs of their so-called Live-like online service was to be through micropayments of content.
Yeah..... I'm a little nervous too.
But if people do what I did....and that is ..... I refused to buy the GRAW map pack cuz I thought spending $15 for something that should have been no more then $10 tops would be giving them the message that we are cool with being screwed over in the future.

Remind me of when the new Halo maps came out. I waited until they were free and downloaded them only at that time. If I paid $60 for a game I want free maps to come with it down the road when I pay money just for the online service. Maybe I am cheap and bitter but it probably just all comes down to me never having money. :(

lol supply and demand if people are willing to pay then why not, more the fools who pay.

Well the Halo 2 maps were sponsored by Mountain Dew for the free release. I would tell other devs to try this sponsorship method.
What I like is the SOCOM 3 download model where you can download it and use it for a week or two and then have to either buy it or it stops working. Basically a try before you buy.
Cuz nothing sucks more then to buy a map pack, only to find that they weren't that great or that popular and all the server rooms are still playing or go back to the same favorite 4-6 maps from the list of pack-in maps that came with the game.
This happened with Ghost Recon 2. New maps came out for free, but most people in the end were still playing only Dam, Pagoda, Ghost Village, Quarry, Bunkers, Peninsula and Sand Mine...although the Train Yard-Interior variation of the original became quite popular in the new map pack update.
Ubisoft should copy the try-before-buy Socom 3 model or get a sponsor like Halo 2 did where the hardcores paid for it on day one so that they could learn the maps like the back of their hand.... so that when the maps were free, the new players would get owned by the vets. You pay for the 3 month time advantage with the maps. :P

Yea I liked the idea both in Halo 2 and Socom 3...all companies should actually combine those to begin with (more advancements are good too). They should let you try them for a couple of weeks and then you can either buy them or wait a few months to get them for free. I think this will attract a LOT of people.

Well, the GRAW maps were sponsered by Dodge, weren't they? That didn't seem to help much.
Anyways, I don't see them changing their ways for at least a year. With the 360 still being a "new" console, and the PS3 on it's way. Most gamers are hungry for any content they can get their hands on. Only when the games are plentiful will people, as a whole, get picky about what they buy.

Hey I already boycotted EA a looooooooong time ago. The only EA games I have in my current gen are the SSX games, that's it. They can keep everything else because it's crap. Game trailers ain't that important. Then again EA fanboys are dumb enough to get the same ol' Madden every year so they may be willing to fork over that dough for the privelege of seeing how a crappy game is made.
