I just got the game 2 days ago and it's by far the most beautiful game I have ever played. I love the epic, go-anywhere feel to the game. So I will sort this out:

Pros:
Amazing visuals and colors.

You can literally go anywhere in this game.

Cities really feel alive with NPC's doing daily routines.

You can customize your character.

The weapons and magic are really cool and fun to mess around with.

Closing Oblivion gates is always fun.

Cons:
Frame rate seems to drop quite a bit when walking through heavy brush. It's never perfectly steady actually.

At times, you can feel sort of "overwhelmed" with all the quests you are given.

Stealing and killing is pointless because you always have to fight the guards if you do steal or kill someone (aside from bandits and other enemies).

Some quests are just down right boring.

Horse riding could use some more polish, as it is very "stiff".

So, as you can see, the game has it's ups and downs. Overall, if your looking for an RPG with a FPS perspective, this is definately your game. It has the graphics, gameplay, and overall epic free-roaming feel that alot of other games don't have.

My score: 9.0/10

I also have a question, does anyone know how to join the Fighters Guild? I can never find the right person to ask to join up..

You can join the Fighters Guild in 3 towns, If you are in Chorrol speak with Vilena Donton in the Fighters Guild building, If you are in Anvil talk to Azzan or if you are in Cheydinhal (where I joined) go to Burz gro Khash.

There is a quest to join the fighters guild, when I joined in Cheydinhal I had to go to a mine to help other members by fighting orcs (or some other creature)...once you complete the quest go back to the person who you spoke to and you are a member.:D I completed the whole game (champion of cyrodil) but my saves got deleted so I only finished 57% of the game.

Thanks, I joined up.. :)

I currently wear the Dark Brotherhood armor...it's all black, really cool stuff. 8)

I just got promoted to Evoker in the Mages Guild. I tried out being a vampire, I thought it was stupid so I went back to my other save.

Also, is there any place in the game to get some kickass armor without having to pay for it? Or do you just get the new armor upgrades as you progress through the game?

Don't think so. If you reach level 5, you'll see people (especially bandits) wearing better armor. If you reach level 10, they'll again wear better armor. If you reach level 15, ...

I haven't got this game but looking at videos of it it looks very hard to fight as you cant really see what your hitting. Is this true?

Not really. Not unless you're a moron . But seriously, the game is rediculously fun.

I have a question, what are your guys's gear?

My Imperial is level 14 and is wearing:
Heavy Raiment of Valor,
Sexy Shank(Ancient Akaviri Katana, 25 shock damage),
The helmet the dude gives you when you become guild master of fighters guild.

While I hate this game, killing and stealing arent pointless and guards dont attack you always....I guess you just suck at it?

Obviously you cant wale on anyone in public.

You should join the Dark Brotherhood. It's a lot of fun. But after a while you only get to work once a week, sort of like the arena, and that sucks.

After you get to the "master" rank at each of the guilds, it gets boring because theres no more quests. Especially in the Fighters guild, all you have to do is collect money and maybe change up the strategy of the guild a bit. If you've beaten the guilds and the main quest pretty much all thats left is the daedric shrines.

About the framerate, does it stoop a level where it's basically unplayable, or does it carry on a good framerate throughout most of the game? My PC isn't worthy of Oblivion (try it on a Radeon 9250, rofl), so Xbox 360 may be a good answer, seeing as I have a chance at getting it a while after my PS3.

Oblivion may as well be the "killer ap" for 360. At least in my eyes, I don't have the $1000 required to build a gaming computer... yet.

NOT at all, the Frame Rate will be the LEAST of your problems, for me it's opening containers it got so bad that by the end of the game it was taking like 30 secs to open something, and considering if your in a storage room you might want to open 20 containers, you can see the problem, I hear they have a free patch that fixes the FR issues, does it also help with opening stuff quicker?

They say clearing the HDD's cache helps a bit. (power on while holding the green button to clear the cache)

Hi everyone I got oblivion for the pc and it rocks but there is three things i hate about it and thought it good to bring them to the table

1. Not real sence of becomeing really powerful cause baddies lvl up as you do
2. Had to remaster my computer cause of a stupid virus and lost all my save
3. the game gets a real repeditive feel with sum of the missions like go do this kill that thing and also closing oblivion gates gets real boring also on the same repeditive feel it is just me or do all the forts look the same same with alyid ruins

other than those gripes a really good game especally since I thought it would be crap (did'nt like Morrowind) but bought it anyway just out of curiosity

There are about 3 or 4 quests per city, not including the guilds and main quest. Don't get me wrong, there's a hell of a lot to do in oblivion. But don't think it will last forever.

^^ Grats Firefox =)

I have Oblivion for the PC. It suffers from framerate drops every now and then but nothing really bad. I used a tweaked driver for my 6800 ultra and it seems to have helped quite a bit. Especially outside in the forests.

My first time through (about 3 months ago) I completed the main quest, mage guild quests, DB quests and got through alot of the fighters guild quests but there was a bug during one of them and I couldn't progress further :( I also became arena champ.

My verdict overall is that the game is awsome. It can get boring (alot of it is very samey) but it all depends on how you play. I've recently reinstalled the game and have searched around for lots of the plugins and fan mods and its made the game a whole lot nicer looking and imersive. If anyone is using the PC version try Rens Beauty mod and look at the new race. Its really amazing.

One thing I would like to see in future expansion packs (hopefully) is more diverse stories and involvement. I thought the main quest was great, but it was very streamlined and short. I would like to see a whole new Vampire guild added with a great story and lots of open-ended quests. Also more to the DB quests aswell.

The game after finishing it is kept alive by mods.

I agree..However, the 360 ver. can't have mods. But the upgrades add a few fun quests. The Mehrunes Razor quest is pretty rewarding as well as The Black Flag quest.

Oblivion was a fantastic game but there is so much room for improvement.

I don't think this game lived up to Morrowind. There was sooo much more to do in that game and the world didn't feel as empty (and I think it was bigger too). In Morrowind there were caves everywhere! This game is still great but I couldn't help but feel a little let down.

I agree. Morrowind seemed more like a vast world with a more varied amount of quests and themes and characters. Saying that there was a lot of things that let Morrowind down and I think they fixed most of it with Oblivion, but they also left a lot of the good points out.

In Oblivion, I dont know if its because of the huge draw distance, but the world seems smaller and less immersive. One town is pretty much the same as the other but with different colours. It wasn't like this in Morrowind.

Thats why I'm hoping future expansion packs will fulfill the empty hole I feel is missing from Oblivion. They have great ideas already in the game, they just need to add to them and make it more involving and diverse.

I think that voice acting every-line plays a factor in the less immersive feeling of Oblivion. It adds so many complications whereas if they used text, they could push things and make everything go further withut having to worry about space, work, cost etc. Obviously they cant do that now, but thats how I feel. I think the voice acting is OK, but they use too many of the same voices for different people and it can get stale. Personally I would have liked Oblivion to have combined voices and text, similar to Morrowind. This way they could have done so much more!

The only problem with Oblivion is that it gets repetitive much easily, all you do is go in to tombs, caves, and oblivion gates..then hack/slash creatures. They should have had more fun quests (I liked the thieves guild last quest) with more thinking and strategy than just slashing creatures with your sword.

Yeah I have this game for pc. I have a Leadtek 6800GT and it works fine with nice graphics. What mod makes the game look better? Sounds weird, but okay.

I've started over again because I lost my saves, and it's as fun. But I only play like once every two weeks or less now.

Oblivion is rather repetitive, yes. However, the amount of stuff to do and then replayability makes this game more than worth it's price. Oblivion is one of the best action rpg's to date.

I hate the thieves guild. I'm not very good at sneaking around. I'd rather just rush in and kill everything :P. What is the thieves guilds last quest?

I've done that, and have over 200+ hours raked up. 500+ hours total including all the characters I've made! I am an oblivion master, literally! I've downloaded all available content, Elite member of the official oblivion forums, owns the big azz strategy guide- $25-30-, And going to buy oblivion again for PS3!
