Think I might buy this tonight, going to get two shopto codes for £35.70 :) Saving myself some cash to spend on the discounts!
what i want to know is...how long will the Psn+ service run..
what i mean is. we pay $70 a year here is australia..
but to keep the content we must continually subscribe, therefore, when eventually the ps4 comes out, what will happen to our games. i know it may sound silly, but eventually the ps3 will no longer be supported, yes it may be many years away, but what will happen then?? with all the content from psn+? do we keep it, lose it...
i understand its a way out there question... but, i feel nobody has really asked or addressed this area....
the way im thinking about it is you get to keep EVERYTHING forever. however, the certain things you can only access during a subscription period. so for example you got wipeout hd this month and you dont renew immediately at the end of the sub. the content is still on your ps3 you just cant use it until you get another sub. you don't just lose it if you dont renew immediately. it cant just be automatically deleted from your ps3.
this would also extend to your ps4 question. i think it would all stay under your PSN download history. so if you get a new ps3 or if ps4 comes out. you log into your account, redownload the stuff. then youll be able to access it once again once you have PS+ up and running.
now i don't know if all i said is correct, but it sounds logical to me..

Yeah that is correct. It doesn't work, until you re-activate your subscription. Clever tactic to get people into it, as some may not come out! If they do something like Cross Chat or a Black Ops pack, then lots of people are going to resubscribe, just because of that. Its really clever work from Sony!

Maybe, but I think Sony would prefer to add more of there own services to it, rather than loose money to 3rd partys.

Yeah, that would make a lot of sense. Yet, if they were to add hulu plus to ps+, I believe it would enhance the amount of subscribers a noticeable amount.

All i have downloaded is the free LBP, and the 1 hour trial of Shatter and Savage Moon...Didn't buy either of them though.
Still, worth it to me already :) Surprised at the amount of people on my list who have bought it!

I was kinda shocked at the length too, until I realized that it's only a mini. I wouldn't expect a lengthy mini game. The DLC didn't aid me either.

You can choose what time your system turns on/off , PS+ knows what games you have played and gets updates for them and the system and push demos...
Haven't tried the auto download feature yet, sounds interesting.
I'd rather be able to schedule downloads instead of them being automatic.

How do you schedule a download that you do not know exists? If you set your PS3 to auto download then it will grab updates and such that you had no idea were needed.

This is the best addition so far - there is nothing worse than popping in the game CD and then having to wait for an update! The little touch of telling you what has happened makes great sense.

How does my anti-virus check for an update every day at the same time without knowing whether there is an update or not? It's called "scheduling", which is what I said. I'd rather be able to schedule downloads instead of them being automatic. :roll: cmon man, thinking comes before posting. ;)

You leave it on? Why?! That cannot be good, seriously that will kill your PS3! Never heard that before!

My PS3 is always on. Unless I'm on vacation. And, it's working the same way it did on the day I bought it.

Its a computer, its designed to be on all the time. It does more damage to shut it off all the time. And its been on since 2006.

You obviously don't care about electricity bills! Good on you! Thats an achievement and a half right there! Computers are not desinged to stay on all the time, they are designed to last x amount of days/years. Thats what the off button is there for! Space, noise, cost of keeping it on all the time are all a problem. I can't keep it on, I don't have unlimited ventialtion room, unlike you guys seem to have!

No, they are designed to stay on all the time. Why do you think the Slim has no off button? ;-] And computers have buttons because sometimes they do have to be shut off (storms, repairs, moving etc).

I think the deal is only good for this month, just start the download now and then download the rest later.

Yes I'm pretty sure once you download it once then it's yours forever even if you stop subscribing.

To be honest.. after a couple of days been psn+ user-- i dont find anything special.. got things that i had.. or things that dont need/want.. hope it gets better with time.. if now.. will be my first and last subscription to psn+ (for now 1 years, more 3 months i think)

33times, we in europe get naff all for out Plus membership, compared to the US. We get like, 10 things at the beginning of the month. The US gets like, 15 things every week

Just sign into your PS3 on the new playstation and re download.
PS+ downloads (as of now atleast) can be gameshared so any PS3 with your PSN account active on it can download the PS+ stuff and be played under your account or any other account on that PS3 without the 24hr lockout.
I think this will be on a game to game basis tho. Seeing as WipeOut HD was shareable to begin with. I assume if a game like Socom:C or WArhawk were to be a free DL that they would have a 24hr lockout period when being used from differnt systems since thats how those DLs are currently set up. Not sure if LBP has a lockout period or not.
Avatars as usual are locked to the account name that + is registered to. Non + Avys are locked to the account that purchases them so I figured they wouldn't be sharable.
Found all this out when my brother saw I was on + and immediately DLed everything when I was at work.

Sony can definitely improve PS+ by offering more. I almost got it at first when I thought the down-loadable version of LBP was being given for free and ours to keep even after unsubscribing.
When I found that wasn't the case, at least here in NA. I did not sign up. Another thing that almost convinced me was being able to keep the DLC content for games but then I found out it's what Sony chooses to offer for free in other words not all DLC they offer is going to be free. I mean, what if I have already paid for it in the past? This kind of model would have been fine if PS+ was available from the beginning when I had the choice between getting DLC through subscribing or paying but I've already paid for some they are offering. It should be all DLC for free at this point. So, yeah, they can definitely improve it.
I am not going to pay otherwise.

The free LBP is yours to keep forever, even if you unsubscribe. Anything you purchase on PSN+ is also yours to keep forever, even if you unsubscribe. The only thing you would lose is the free games you get each month with PSN+, those will not be able to be used unless you're a PSN+ subscriber.
According to Grace Chen, you also get to keep DLC and themes you get for free.

Go up next to the thing near your spawn it looks like a little machine or something and it has a jetpack in its clamps just go up to it and press Square. And to fly around just use R2 to elevate etc.

Free stuff like wall papers and avtars are yours to keep.
It's just the free games that you don't keep when the subscription ends. (unless you re-subscribe)

When you browse through the match list the games with jetpacks enabled will have the jetpack icon in the top left corner of the picture of the map.

Yeah that creeps me out.. it's weird having it automatically turn itself on. Especially when you're half asleep and not expecting it.
Do you guys know if yearly subscribers get higher access to betas then 3 months subscribers? I know they did something like that with Qore, however I HOPE they DON'T do this with PS +

WOW!!!!! I'm a subscriber.. However if Sony would allow that it would be one of the biggest gaming fails of all time..
Stop being cheap and just subscribe.. If not then you don't want the exclusive content that bad..

August the 4th is the next update.
The US gets their content whereas the UK gets all their stuff at the start of the month. So Europe get the better deal IMO. Well, apart from the massive content gap (in terms of amount of stuff).

I think you might be wrong.. Just because we got a good bit of stuff on day one.. An every time they came out with a PS Store update Sony added something new to the PS+ subscribers.. Is there a full list of what EU got compared to US

Stop being cheap and just subscribe. If not then you don't want the exclusive content that bad.
Where in my post did I imply I was being cheap? All I did was ask a question about PlayStation Plus and a possible loophole that could get a non-subscriber access to the content they shouldn't be getting. In future, think before you type.
I have a quick question; can a non-PlayStation Plus user gameshare with a PlayStation Plus user and download the exclusive content without actually being a PlayStation Plus subscriber?

I think you might be wrong.. Just because we got a good bit of stuff on day one.. An every time they came out with a PS Store update Sony added something new to the PS+ subscribers.. Is there a full list of what EU got compared to US

I'm sure that as new content is released you will see more content having the 24/hr lockout period like Socom, Warhawk and Burnout had (not sure which other had this lockout period).
It's kind of hard for them (or just a pain) to just add this lockout for games and content that has already been up on the store for awhile now that dont already have it.
Besides, Sony are the ones that initially said that we are able to DL our content on upto 5 consoles. While they are able to add a 24hr lockout period on our content when being used on a different console, I don't think they can just up and take it away. (tho they did with Linux didn't they? XD )
There must be a way to download our content on a different console in the case our current ones *gasp* break. ;)
I'm hoping we get a free Warhawk.

Ok, i don't really want to moan (look at the comments on the EU Blog already. Poor Mike.) but this isn't good, at all. What's worse is that Mike and the Plus team didn't even know that the US were gonna give that content to Plus members. Why not?
It feels like PSN is a broken community. We all have PS3's but, depending on where you are based, the content is unbelievably varied.
Why can't we all be a big happy family?!
I sort of understand the disparity of the PlayStation Home content as that reflects the region that it is based in (although it is unfair when worldwide games take months to be released in other areas. I'm looking at you, Uncharted space.). However, when it comes to games on the Store and a supscription package, this gap is not on!

Seems like the guys over at the EU blog are surprised about how much the US are getting. They've already laid out what they're releasing for months 1 and 2, but after that they're gonna look to get more content up there.
Well it's good for me since I'm in the U.S, the PSN+ store is filling up pretty quickly in the U.S.

The best that we can hope for is that all the content that the US have got is given to us next week or a little later down the line (doubt that will happen, though). Why don't the regions communicate with each other?! We all own the same console after all. I can't believe this gap in content, and neither can SCEE.

I think they should add on 3 months extra for the people that bought it within the first month, as a reward. If not, just increase the content outload!

I believe most people are complaining here (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/07/28/heads-up-game-store-update-28th-july-2010/#). There is 496 comments made so far with about 87 replies. The reason i haven't made a comment is mainly due to the fact that i can't write a comment here on my PS3 because of a strange bug that occurs whenever i try to do so.
Instead of complaining there (on the store update post, where it doesn't really belong and where you are talking to a man who isn't responsible for the PS+ content) i urge you to wait until next week when the Plus team come onto the Blog to give us the new content list (which we already know, or do we? I doubt they changed it tbh). That is when thousands of angry Plus members will rip the Plus guys/girls to shreds. Join in. ;)

I do feel this is really unfair. The Us has got far more content than us. Ultimately, they have paid less too, and got more. I originally thought that the US content was getting distributed evenly over the month, but no. They were just getting more, every week. We are now shamefully behind.
I would like to point out my favourite forum, ps3forum, and how its a great community. You must know about us, and have seen many devs post on there, great relationship some have with us. I think it is key for Sony to act on customer satisfaction - or lack of at the moment- and act. Take a look at the thread here: http://tinyurl.com/36l2765
A thread dedicated to PlaystationPlus. If you look at the beginning, we are all excited by it, extremely pleased by the offer. Then the US start to complain, as we had more content at the beginning. I guess they aren't used to it, as we are normally woefully behind. But around halfway through the thread it changed, with Eu folks complaining. Complaining with reason, that we have paid more, and are now behind. And the situation got worse this week. These are genuine concerns, and I believe you should check them over.
I hope to see a response, and that more content is added to next months, or distributed similar to the US. That doesn't mean string out the same content, as that would look poor. That means add content, and then distribute it throughout the month. I would suggest add one more PSN game and a mini.
But I think we deserve, as payback, the 3 months extra the US got ontop of LittleBigPlanet, which some can't download. I know its a bit extreme, but it would have been nice to have the choice in the first place, but now I think you need to payback the customers with either some more content or 3 months extra to the people who signed up within the first week.
Please suggest other stuff to say, I really want to bring the message home. Im going to use the contact us page aswell.

Does anyone know if the US will be getting this as well? I was about to buy this until I saw that it might be free in September.
This is sadly what kind of annoys me with PS+ right now too. I can't say there is no value, because I already got more than my $50 out of it, but they really need to be offering discounts on NEW games.
So far, their deals are almost entirely on older games (like YEARS old), and if they say PS+ is for the hardcore gamer, well they are missing their market because most of us "hardcore" gamers already own a lot of the stuff they are discounting. If they would reliably (being the key word) discount the new games, then PS+ would actually be targeting their core demographic and not cause so much confusion.
At this point, I'm not going to wait 6 months down the line just to get a game I want a few bucks cheaper. And if they keep giving us these silly game trials for old games and discounts for older games then I don't see myself renewing my subscription next year. Please give us new stuff! The free games I can understand not being the new ones, but discounts? Come on...

I downloaded the trial to Savage Moon from last month and played it for a while, didnt get any trophies, but it had the game under my trophies, i deleted the game (it was on the TRIAL) but the trophy list is there sitting at 0% >:(

I don't have Plus, but I know just what you mean. I hate that I have games with 0% trophies clogging up my list. There are some games I wish I could even delete my trophies for if they are sitting at like 4%

As of now, for my 1 year subscription i already got 30$ worth of games. I like it for what it is and am sure it will be totally worth it at the end of the year. When Killzone 3, Socom 4, infamous 2 and the next uncharted demos and betas come out, people will eat it !
I also think Sony will improve the service as it goes on, i'm confident.

I'm happy too tbh. A few of the things I already have or don't want, but other stuff like the games they've given me are great.
I'd have never bought a mini, but most of them are fun and have changed my mind about them.
Trials are good too. It made me buy infamous.
And I still have a few things that I haven't played yet so I have plenty to keep me occupied after I beat the game I'm playing atm.
Yep, I'm happy so far, and there's loads more to come.
Saying that though, I will be wary about buying anything from the store (except DLC that I want right now) because I know it'll prob be given for free at a later date and if I'm not too pushed on buying it then I'd rather just wait and see. It's the only downside for Sonys perspective. I'm sure a lot of people will be putting off buying anything too.

I usually only buy what i'm really interested in so its not a problem for me.
eg. I'll be picking up Dead Nation as soon as it arrives on the store.
I doubt the new stuff will be on PS+ in a hurry anyways.
It is great to play the games i would not have thought of buying though.

You don't get less content. People just went crazy when they found out they are updating every other week instead of weekly. They stated many times over we will still get the same amount of content.
It was a silly complaint from US anyway considering the UK store only got updated once a month to begin with. The difference is only in when you get the content, not the amount you get. For example, the UK got a bigger update at the beginning of the month, but the US used to get 4 smaller updates throughout the month. Now we will be getting 2 slightly bigger updates.
It's not hard to follow, but people get butthurt about things they don't understand online quite often, so it's understandable I suppose.

I'm pretty sure they put new stuff on every other week, and yes it is worth my money so far.

It's worth varies from person to person. I recommend you actually read what everyone has had to say and come to your own conclusion.
Also look at what has been given in the last month 1/2 already for your region. There are still 13 1/2 more months to go.
Whether it is worth it is entirely up to you since your paying. For me, I've pretty much recouped my initial investment already and it hasnt eve been 2 months, so for me it's worth it.
For NA atleast, they updated every week in july but have now changed it to bi-weekly. I can't speak for other regions tho.
Hmmm, think ill wait abit for PS+, i was hoping we would get cross game chat with it :(

PS+ hasn't been anything special to be honest.... I think they should have waited a bit longer to have a bit more features available. (Like say Cross Game Voice chat of some sort like others have wanted. I don't care for the feature but many seem to want it.)
Hoping it improves a lot more...
not really sure if it's been worth it for me or not, I don't really like any of the games they have given away. But I am only 2 months in...as it stands right now, I would not renew, but there is alot of time left to impress me...
what bugs me most is that you have to keep the membership to keep the free stuff..so far it's pretty crappy, I guess..
if anything it has saved me money cuz i no longer buy anything that's not discounted....it seems that everything they discount I already have, so one day they will discount the games I want....I hope
LBP + wipeoutHD + medievil + filedrunners. For me so far. So I definitely think it going to pay for itself.
It's been worth it for me so far, I've downloaded a lot of games/demos.

my problem right now is I really want Joe Danger and, to a lesser extent, Lead and Gold, but I am afraid to pay full price for them since they could get a discount anytime.
Does anyone know if, say, you decide to not renew next year right away, so you no longer have access to the free stuff you have gotten...do you get it back if you join up again at a later date?

Once i get my ps3 back, and once i get a job ill probably get PS+, but right now i dont have a job and dont have an extra 60bux layin around.
They should release a year plan. I'm a +, but since I barely got like $5 of game revenue, cuz most of the things I want I already bought them and the other stuff don't interest me.
The only thing I downloaded and almost didn't play it was Cutter Chrush (I guess thats the name of the game). Till now, I don't have plans on subscribe again to the service. (Perhaps I'll try RedFaction trial).

Wish me luck, I'm on the phone with PS support now...here's what I'm going to ask of them:
I bought a PS3 slim on 8/2/2010.
I purchased the extended 2 years of warranty service from them on 8/4/2010.
I see they've introduced a discount for PS + members to get the 2-year service warranty for $44.99, instead of the $59.99 that I paid back on 8/4/2010...
So I'm going to find out since I'm a PS+ member, if they can go back and let me have the 2 additional years for $44.99 instead of $59.99, and give me a credit.
If they do, I"m going to most likely request it on the PS store..they'll still get the $15.00, but it'll be at my choosing on what to get instead of price of that plan..hopefully they'll do it since the dates are so close in range.

So nice of Sony to offer a "PS3 System 2 Year Plan" that covers your PS3 for 2 years after your 1 year warranty is expired for 49.99 to PS+ subscribers. (1 year plans for the same price for non PS+ subs)
To bad my 1 year warranty on both of my launch units expired nearly 3 years ago.....................

I don't mind extended protection plans. I view it as a few dollars more to have "basically" the same thing as insurance. You insure your car when it's financed..and it's required that you have full coverage on it, because banks & loan companies know you don't have the money to replace it, or you wouldn't be financing it to begin with...
I don't have the money to just go around replacing my PS3 or TV on a whim, so I insure it against something going wrong...and if AFTER 3 years something happens, I've most likely gotten a LOT of good use from it.

Oh, and for an update on my warranty purchase and getting the discount applied, I'm on the phone again with them. They are saying no...but I told her that doesn't make sense to me, because it's been less than 30 days since I purchased the PS protection plan, so I can just say I want my money back...and get a FULL refund of what I paid for the protection plan, then turn around a purchase it through the PSN store...
Final answer, I just received it while typing is NO. They cannot just issue me a $14 credit back to my PSN wallet..like I asked. They said they could refund me the $59.99 and I could repurchase the warranty though the store, but they couldn't do it where I just get $14 back in a credit on my wallet. So I turned down the offer of getting a full refund and just said hell wid it. I'm not THAT worried over a measley $14 that I want to go through them doing a credit back to my card..wait 2-3 days..then purchase the warranty again through the store (plus the store takes $1.00 off my cards each time I change them because I don't always use the same card to make wallet purchases)...so BLAH.
