Didn't see this thread till now.
So far i can honestly say its worth it but sony really needs to add a new feature like voice messaging or something. Not necisarily cross game chat although that would be cool 2. But with something like voice messaging you can make that exclusive to ps+ memebers cause only ps+ can send those messages while non members can listen to them.
I don't mind extended protection plans. I view it as a few dollars more to have "basically" the same thing as insurance. You insure your car when it's financed..and it's required that you have full coverage on it, because banks & loan companies know you don't have the money to replace it, or you wouldn't be financing it to begin with...
I don't have the money to just go around replacing my PS3 or TV on a whim, so I insure it against something going wrong...and if AFTER 3 years something happens, I've most likely gotten a LOT of good use from it.
I don't know about you, but I insure my car and bike because it is illegal to drive an uninsured vehicle. It's not really a choice I get to make......
Don't get me started on how insurance is a complete waste of money for many people. Im 29, owned every vehicle I've had out right. No leaseing or financing. Just CASH. Been driving since I was 16 and haven't had a single accident where I was at fault. I've had 2 where I was not at fault so everything was paid thru their insurance. Think of how much money I've "thrown away" on insurance that has done absolutely nothing for me that I've paid $100+ every single month for the past 13 years and thats not including my motorcycle...................

So you have full coverage because it's illegal not to have it? Never heard of that. I've only heard of the liability laws..as I'm sure is the same with you. If you've got a great record then you're only talking a few bucks a month for liability-only coverage...I KNOW for a fact. I keep the highest-tier insurance that I can get on myself, SR-22...and it only costs me $33 a month. But that ALSO covers my wife, liability on my car. But wife is just regular coverage where I'm insured for ANY car I step into...and it's not really pertinent that you feel SO adequate as a driver that you should be excluded from insurance laws just because you've not had anything happen...last I checked, as a member of the volunteer fire dept here, none of the wrecks I work were a case where someone PLANNED to cream another driver..otherwise they would call them "on-purposes" instead of "accidents".
So anyway..back to the topic...it's well worth it to protect investments in my opinion. I'm glad some have money on hand to replace electronics, cars, bikes, HOMES that cost over 100,000..but i personally can't afford to replace my home, or none of the other less-expensive items in it just on a whim.

A few bucks a month? Depends on where you live, what you drive, your age, your sex and on your driving record. Liability a month where I live still will run you 85-200+ per month depending on the the previously stated criteria. Gieco had the nerve to tell me 200/month liability a few months back(granted, they are the most expensive around here tho). I remember when I was 20 it cost me 220/month for a honda freaking CRX.....Liability coverage and a clean driving record.
I KNOW for a FACT, thats not just a few bucks. I don't live in Alabama. ;)

Car insurance should be optional. If you have an accident and have insurance, insurance covers it and your premiums go up just like it does now. No insurance? Cover it yourself out of your own pockets.

Would've been nice for Sony to offer this warrenty, you know, in 2006 when the console first released. Not 3-4 years later when it's usless to so many people.. Not that Id've bought it nor needed it. My launch 20 and 60GB units still work flawlessly and they are used all the time. It would've been a good idea tho. Plenty of people would've purchased it along time ago.

I can only comment that you're paying ridiculous rates on your insurance because of your credit history...if you've got absolutely NOTHING on your record to cause your rate to be high, and you're 29, unmarried??? I assume? ...your rate should be a LOT lower for someone with NOTHING on their DMV. The only time it's NOT is when you either have a REALLY low credit score (beacon score), you have no credit at all, and you're credit file is VERY small. In either case, your beacon score will be low. And when your insurance company pulls a credit report (YES, they DO that..they figure people who have bad credit are more likely to have MORE wrecks, tickets and are more of a liability risk)..and they see the score, they give you a higher tier, or rating, which in turn causes the high rate. My rate isn't 30 bucks a month for SR-22 on me, and liability on my wife for our car for no reason..it's because I have a decent score (NOT great, but decent...645 last I checked) and I've had 1 wreck, when I was 21 (I'm 31 now). Has nothing to do with my state..it has to do with my history and credit rating...and that's how ALL insurance companies base their premiums. It's almost a mandatory thing that insurance companies pull credit reports for issuance of policies.
I have my 3-year old 40gb PS3 (up'd to 320gb) that I can't do nothing with on a warranty as well..and I expressed this to SONY yesterday. Did no good, but I would like to have had the opportunity to cover my FIRST ps3...but instead I'm given the warranty on my new 2-week old slim.

You are correct. Your credit history helps to decide your premium. My credit is good. How good? Not really anyone heres buisness.
Where you live also helps in deciding your premium. Not everyone lives in a great area. Where I live isn't anyones buisness, but I'll say that it sure isn't quite and peacefull.
Your vehicle itself also helps. You want full coverage or liability? I never said. I didnt say what I drive, but you might kno. I posted it on the forum before.
Your sex, your age your driving record and still their are other factors. All these things aid insurance companies in deciding on yor premium.
I also never said what I pay. Only ranges of what i've paid over the years. I did mention what Geiko wanted me to pay for just liability tho. I also stated they are the most expensive in my area. I was just using them mearly as a worst case senario.
Please, stop assumeing you know how much I should pay based on what you pay. I am not you nor are you me.

Are they ever going to release an upcoming list for PS+ for other regions like they have for EU?
It sure would be nice to know what I'm actually getting rather then what they are getting.
Every insurance company uses different criteria to judge a credit score. It's not a matter of it being just a beacon score. The main reason all states require you to have liability insurance (or proof of assets to cover financial responsibility) is because it protects other drivers from your negligence. If you don't have insurance, there isn't any guarantee that someone you injure, or trash their vehicle, will ever see a dime. Sure, someone can sue you in civil court, but that's just a proceeding. There isn't anything that requires you to actually pay a civil judgment, nothing. A civil judgment finds that you're contributing to a collision, and says you are responsible for $10,000... oh wow. You now have a 10,000 judgment on your credit record that will be gone in seven years; all without you having ever paid a dime out.
Liability insurance requirements are necessary. All 50 states have either mandatory (compulsory) liability requirements, or financial responsibility requirements.
Anyways lol...
I'm hoping something turns up either this month or next month, heck the month after... etc., that makes this service worth it for me.

oh yea i hear they are giving discount on "protection plan" for PSN+ members. also u get a discount on repair on expired consoles if u have PSN+
yeah, they offer a 1 year protection plan ontop of your 1 year warrenty to non PS+ subs. PS+ subs get 2 years for the same price.

I bought the PS3 Slim on 8/2...
I bought the PS3 protection plan on 8/4..
I joined the PS+ service on 8/7.
So i called SONY to try and get back the 14 bucks difference (2 years = $59.99 <--what I paid, but for PS+ now it's 2 years= $44.99)
And I told them I didn't want actual cash back, I would just like to have the extra $14.00 in my wallet. They couldn't fulfill my request.
What got me was I could JUST as easily told them I wanted a refund of my WHOLE $59.99 purchase of the protection plan..because it hasn't been 30 days since I bought it.
I would just have them refund the entire amount thenand repurchase it under PS+.
Did you mention that to them? I wouldn't just eat the $14 loss. That's a new PSN game download. lol

I think that whatever the US PS+ members get the EU + team should add those games etc to our store and vice versa. I find it slightly annoying how the US got Critter Crunch and Mushroom Wars free, and the TerRover demo, too. Ah well.
Abe and Sam and Max next week, though. Sweet. Well, until we are trumped by the US, of course.

I did consider getting the full refund ....but they couldn't give me the $59.99 on my wallet..I would have to wait 3-4 business days for the refund to process back to my card, then turn around and fund my wallet with $44.99 (or $59.99 to take advantage of the $14.00 credit) and it's just time consuming, and nearly a bother..I've already printed out my confirmation email with my warranty ID number, and put that into my fireproof safe..along with the receipt of purchase for the PS3..I would have to go back and get issued a different warranty ID number, re-print the warranty info with the new number, and go into the safe to replace the current one..and I hate opening my safe. It's a hassle (that's why I put cash in it, because it's troublesome and I'll REALLY consider what I am doing before I just go get the cash out of the safe for a spur/impulse purchase.)

EU gets their update this week. Sam and Max's entire series and Abe's Oddysee FTW.
We also get Vector TD, Echoes, 2 EyePet avatars and 2 dynamic themes - PlayStation Move and Fish Tank.
I'm personally looking forward to all of that apart from the avatars, really. And we're also getting some surprise goodies mid-month too.
I can't wait for them to announce what we're getting in October!

Yeah.
It's the fact that you've had more games given to you for free, than us. I just think that is slightly disappointing seeing as we are all paying for the same service. What should happen, ideally, is that EU, US and JPN all communicate with each other and release the same content, but no. No, it has be a competition, it seems. Even if you can't communicate why doesn't each region update its respective store with the content the other regions have provided? Basically, i want Mushroom Wars and Critter Crunch for free too. ;)

the auto download feature only d/ls push demos and updates/patches to my knowledge and seeing how its not a demo i guess it's an update

There is one FREE DLC pack for Bioshock 2, maybe it downloaded that?

Not too bad. I've not played many fighting games recently, and while SFHD isn't something I'd buy off my own back, I'll give it a bash for free. I remember playing Syphon Filter back on the PS1, so I'll give that another go. I'll get the minis as usual just to give them a shot.
Although, having said all that, I'm still waiting for this months PS+ content to appear on the store, so I'm not really thinking too much about October yet. Get on with it Sony.

I just checked it now, and the new content still isn't on. The yellow plus logo has been removed from all the content in the PS+ section (except the dynamic themes), but that happened a few hours ago, and nothing since.

Apparantly the delay is due to a system bug.
I've searched for Sam and Max and got my minis and Abe for free already. Just waiting on the Dynamic Themes to pop up, now.
Edit: Btw, if you want to give InFamous a bash, go to the PS+ section and click on InFamous. The Full Game Trial is still free. Quick!

I'm really hoping that PSN+ will get better. I bought it, and knew that not much was going on, but it just doesn't seem like there really is much to it, even now. It's still newer and all, but at the end of the day I would have thought we'd have gotten something significant at this point rather than what we get already.
I don't know... Lets just hope that PSN+ is improved over the course of this year. There's plenty of free content and all, but not as great as Sony tried to make it seem.

There's game data in the data folder, but no game. Do I have to download all the episodes or something? WTF?

I'm pretty happy with this month but not so happy about next month, tbh. I really hope our special treat is the GoW: GoS demo early, like the US.
I think there should be a choice of games for people. For instance, if i'm new to PS3 and buy Plus, i'm gonna want to get all the best games, obviously. So, newcomers should be given the chance to download SSHD and WipEout etc, while the veterans get to download new titles such as Joe Danger. Just an idea.
Again, i think XGC should be free. I am really hoping for an extended warranty (for people that are actually out of warranty, Sony) and Cloud Storage for saves, although it would be awesome if we could throw our PSN games onto our Cloud and then being able to access that Cloud from our PSP as long as we log into our account. It saves all that downloading etc. Just an idea. ;)

US gets so robbed on this PS+. Only decent game they give us is Wipeout. EU gets LBP, Quest for Booty, and Sam & Max Season 3 for free. How EU can complain at all I have no idea.
I wanted to like PS+, and at least I got my money's worth. But damn, this is just silly.

I would like to agree with you guys but as much and if I like my ps3, I feel that I got robbed. I paid 50 euro and the only thing I downloaded was that crappy sam & max game and a psMove theme....Where's Ratchet and Clank. I should have waited a day so I could buy the Move

I've said it many a time before but we all own the same console, yet, depending on where we live, you can get better/worse content than someone else. It just doesn't make sense.
For the time-being, can't the EU Plus team just update our store with the stuff that the US got and we haven't and vice-versa? I guess it isn't as simple as that...

I don't know about the american side but for the rest of the world it started off quite shakey cause of the lack of content compared to america.
That seems to have been fixed up now though so i'll be renewing when my year is up.
The only problem now is that i have so many games and not enough time to play them.

You have to keep renewing from what I know, so in a sense you don't "own" the games, you just get to play them for free as long as you are a PSN+ subscriber.

Yep what Roushman said except with LBP you do get to keep that as it was offered differently.
Although that deal isn't on any longer.
If you were to subscribe today the game you get to keep (even if you do unsubscribe) is Ratchet and Clank - Quest for Booty.

From what I was reading up on, not ALL PSN+ subscribers get access to ALL PSN+ only betas. Basically you pay for the "chance" to be invited to "exclusive" betas. This is one of the reasons I haven't got PSN+ yet. The beta access is a deal breaker for me to get the service and right now it's looking bleak...

Short story: I get home and my wife begins telling me a story about her day at work. I decide to turn on the PS3 and tell her I am just going to check the PS Store to see if I want to set any downloads before we watch a movie.
Well she continues to tell me the story, as PS loads I go into the PS+ section and see the Assassins Creed Beta download. I see this download at the precise time she is getting to her punchline. My dumb *** proceeds to blurt out "Oh ****, the Beta!". Now the PS+ is labeled as being more important than her....
Seriously though, the beta has gauranteed a day one purchase for me.

First, we owe you an apology. Last wednesday, i promised that the hustle kings full game trial would be available from the plus section of playstation store by the following day and it didn’t happen. However, we haven’t forgotten and it will be included in tomorrow’s playstation store update.
Moving on, many of you have been asking what time you will be able to download the killzone 3 theme that grants access to the killzone 3 beta to the first 10,000 scee plus subscribers who download it. We have been discussing which time is best for everyone and we can now confirm that it will go live in the eu playstation store at 8pm in the uk, 9pm cet and 6am in sydney, australia.
*we would like to point out that, at this very early stage in the game’s development, the killzone 3 beta will only support the english language. Let us assure you that the final game will be fully localised and there will be opportunities for non-english speakers to experience it in their mother tongue as we get closer to release. Fortunately, the headshot is an international language.
Another common piece of feedback is that you were unhappy with the lack of game add-on packs provided in the last playstation plus update. In response, we have teamed up with bethesda softworks to make all of the fallout 3 dlc available to plus subscribers for free, as the release of fallout: New vegas draws tantalisingly near. Please be aware that these packs will be in the plus section of playstation store for one week only, from the following dates:
13 october
fallout 3: Point lookout
fallout 3: Mothership zeta
fallout 3: Operation: Anchorage
20 october
fallout 3: Broken steel

I had some serious issues playing that DLC. So many glitches, it looked like arse and crashed on me evey other hour. I still had with it though.
O:A was also glitchy for me. Nearer the end of it the framerate got really dicey.

Yeah, as far as I recall. Problem is, I can't remember where I got that from. I'm just sure I read somewhere that the first 5,000 EU members to d/l th theme today are in the beta, and the first 5,000 US members to d/l it on the 19th are also in.

Yeah, I'll admit, there were a few glitches, a couple of times where the framerate dropped, and it froze up completely on one ocassion, but other than that it played mostly ok. Still, I've completed it now and got everything out of it I wanted, so I won't need to go back there anyway.

Any content that you pay for even if discounted is yours forever. So are avatars, themes, and DLC.
The only things you don't keep are the free games. ie. Free PSN games, free minis, free PSone games.
Everything else is yours, including DLC.

The DLC stated under it that it would only work until your subscription was valid. But there is a post on the EU PS forums saying that Sony have changed it and you can keep it for ever now. Just wanted to know if anything has changed.

I would assume they're going to do it later, after the usual main update, so that people who are at work during the day get a chance. For the UK theme, they released it at 8pm, a good 3 hours after the main store update.

Alright, brand new to this forum so I couldnt post my own thread yet, but I have a question about the 1 hour trial games on PS+. Okay, so I am at work and have a lot of downtime due to the fact I am a shuttle driver. I just downloaded the hour trial for Prototype. My problem is I dont want to start it, then get called off on a shuttle run. So, is there anyway at all to pause the trial, like lets say just shutting down the system?? Or does it go off the playstation network time?

My problem is I dont want to start it, then get called off on a shuttle run. So, is there anyway at all to pause the trial, like lets say just shutting down the system?? Or does it go off the playstation network time?
No. Unfortunatly you have one hour from when you start the game, I found that out the hard way.
Regarding prototype, if you like the trial then get it on disc, they're charging an obscene amount of money for it on psn.
How come the us ps+ members get MAG and borderlands game trial do you think there'll ever come out on the eu ps+ site?
