Bought new receiver speaker package, supports 1080p has 3 inputs one output. I hooked up ps3 to receiver in and another hdmi from hdmi out to tv (aquos).

Problem is, I get no video from it unless I turb it iff and on or unplug the hdmi cable and pkug ut back in. Not sure what Im doing wrong or whether Im missing a setting :(

I believe some of the tracks don't go out through the optical cable? DTS HD?

Does the receiver not have an input option to select which input will output to HDMI?

If your PS3's settings are properly setup to output video through HDMI, the reciever is set to output from the HDMI-in the PS3 is plugged into, and the TV is set to display the HDMI-in from the receiver then there's absolutely no reason you shouldn't have video displaying.

It has the option to change inputs and I set it properly. The screen shows up but goes off after a while. It seems to be a handshake issue between the tv and the receiver but the cable box works fine through it.

Help!

Sorry dude, no fixes here just suggestions that I'd try that you might have already.

Another cable? Even though it might work with something else, that something else might not be the exact same signal. I'm thinking about all this HDMI 1.3abc etc stuff, although I don't know how much it all matters.

Try setting PS3 and the Onkyo to 720p? Just to see if it makes a difference.

Try setting the Onkyo to just pass the signal through, if it doesn't already.

Is there some HDMI link thing on the TV/Onkyo? You know like Viera link but for Aquos. Try turning it off/on.

Is the Tv the latest firmware? Try and get an update from Sharpe somehow if not.

My Onkyo has some HDMI Tv control stuff, try disabling that if you've the option.

Reset Onkyo defaults?

And after all that, if you don't get it working and no one else comes out with a fix, contact Onkyo or Sharpe/both. I know it's stating the obvious but it could be a fault on either.

So the video issue had something to do with a ps3 setting "deep color" something something. Once I switched that off it worked fine. Now Im trying to figure out getting HD tracks to work.

I read about setting the ps3 to lpcm, I set the listenibg mode to direct though. Any other recommendations?
