This article is mainly making a big deal about the Halo Reach launch sales being the 5th largest ever in the UK but with no mention of the Number 2 title -- Sports Champions. Sports Champions isn't even in a bundle for Europe and here it is, a stand alone title with less than a full week of sales sitting just behind the 5th largest UK launch evah. Not only that, it takes a Move controller and a PSeye camera to play Sports Champions. Seems to be some indicator of how Move is doing before its full launch week and kind of puts things in perspective.

I wonder how many sales. Sounds like a good start - I like it so far so hope it is popular and we get a bunch of good games for it

It's probably the best motion title out there right now. I'm not too surprised. What else launched on PS3 this past week? Motion controls for the PS3 have been banging on the door and it seems a few people opened that door to answer the call. That's pretty impressive if it's not even bundled as Blig stated.

Problem is that we don't have any numbers. There's probably a gap as big as the pacific ocean between Halo Reach and Mafia II (in its fourth week). The next weeks are going to be much more telling than the first week, because everyone who preordered the game, which are mostly Sony fans looking to buy the latest tech, bought it last week.

I was surprised by this. As its not bundled I didn't expect it to chart so highly. Its definitely the best retail Move game at present. The best PSN title is Tumble.

sports champions is a must own motion game, reason behind my opinion is that its easy enough to pick up for the non gamers, but still challenging enough for a hardcore gamer.

They need to keep it fresh with dlc,

Exactly, there isn't a single bundle in the UK with Sports Champions so for it to do that well as a standalone is great, but of course people will always try to make it look bad.

Until we see actual numbers it's meaningless.

I'd bet there's not a single major release anywhere near the release of a Halo game.

Releasing Move at the same time is probably good counter programming though - could still have done well.

But Smiggy's post puts Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort ahead of the 2nd best selling Move enabled title in that chart.

I'm very interested to see the numbers.

That's a good debut to be sure but it would be nice to see numbers eventually. No doubt Halo Reach did gangbusters, but most releases when they chart high aren't exactly doing the kind of crazy huge numbers you might usually see in NPD (montly) or even Media Create (weekly). It helps a lot more when people can actually extrapolate some kind of measure of success from existing data. For instance, when DQIX held on pretty well, we had no numbers of how it performed statistically, but a lot of people praised the accomplishment because the previous DQ didn't chart near as high or hold on nearly as long as it did. Even without numbers there was some measure to gauge its potential success by. After all, as someone mentioned before, two (actually three) Wii based motion control titles are ahead of every Move title highlighted save for Sports Champions and those games have been out for quite a while managing a healthy existence on the chart so long after their release dates.

The most noteworthy thing is the number of Move enabled titles on there and the jump RE5: Gold has had since its initial release. That's definitely something pointing towards a good reception.

The good news about this is every single title will have been sold with a move package of some kind.

NO

The thing is, in PAL territories there is NO Move bundle with Sports Champions... ALL units sold were separate, which is a damn great sign

LOL. This is like Wii Sports all over again.

I did not see this coming! Seriously, Move was way better than I expected it to be.

You need to read before you post your NO remark.

The fact that Sports Champion MUST be played with move means that the customer has HAD to buy at least
one playstation move packaged product such as the wand, wand and sub controller or starter pack.

The very fact that there is no sports champions bundle in the UK means that a customer will have HAD to buy a move package of some kind along with the software. Simple as.
