View Full Version : Problem with Youtube on my PS3

SO I had the chunky old version of the PS3 and sold it a few months back. Youtube worked fine. I saved up and got the slimmer 160GB PS3 recently, which I am loving and glad to be back in the PS3 world.
I've got the same TV, and set things up the same way. However whenever I go to Youtube I can sign in, but the cursor won't allow me to click on my account name, to go to my favorites. I have to search for videos via pulling up the search menu and using the google thing on there. I can't search on Youtube. I can type things in the search box, but when I try to enter it, it won't work. My internet works fine.
Also it's stating I need some sort of newer version of Adobe, or I need to enable Java. Java is enabled, and I cannot update Adobe on my PS3. How do I fix this? Sorry if this seems a bit jumbled but I tried to explain it best I could, I'm a bit hungover heh.

I noticed the same about a week or two ago. You all of a sudden lost the ability to search, you can't click on it. Youtube XL still works, if you can say that......
Not sure what is up, but I was able to look through the browser history and pull the url used for searches. I manually type in the search URL and it's working for now.....
I'd imagine we'll need another update to the PS3 browser before this is fixed.

I just had to update my system earlier, maybe it's fixed who knows! All I know is I got more games to play :D
Checked if the update did fix the YouTube search glitch, still has not been fixed. Kind of disappointed.

My bro had that problem many months ago(probably on my PS3 too but I never use it for browsing).
To fix it(well not really a fix, more like a workaround), just use/plug in a keyboard and use the Enter key instead of clicking the search button.

Blah this is garbage. I can still just use the search option after hitting triangle, and it takes me to the google page. But seriously it's annoying. Sometimes I go on there to watch some funny videos.

Searching is not the only problem at present. YouTube's JavaScript is "dead in the water" which means virtually all the video page functionality isn't working (posting a comment etc) and you can't view your inbox. At least with the bookmarklet (http://danielb.info/ps3/bookmarklet.aspx) you'll be able to login and search again.

Did you miss the bit about the bookmarklet as this restores searching & adds some extra features?
I too am looking very much forward to playing Uncharted 2, which I got with my slim bundle (thoroughly enjoyed Uncharted 1) :).

Well I had a problem with my PSN account and I had to call Support and take care of the issue, and I brought up this one as well. The very nice lady on the phone who was a little flirty informed me that they are aware of the problem, and the system update that will fix this won't be in play for at least another month or two. However if you just go to YouTube XL, or just type that in your search browser, you can easily get to your own YouTube page, view your favorite videos and search for other videos. Some of the videos don't work but it's not a big issue for me. Usually some random music video that isn't very popular anyways.

I was using my ps3 web browser to search the internet (had no computer) the OG youtube doesnt work for me but I was able to use You Tube XL.
Theres a few fixes they need to deal with. Like when you type something into a search box and go to press search button it doesnt register.
