Good:
-Tons of enemies on screen at a given time.
-Zombies are slow, stupid and easy to kill.
-Huge Variety of weapons
-Great replay value
-Funny story plot
-Leveling system

Bad:
-Boss fights are ridiculously hard and annoying
-The Hostages you have to save are complete idiots
-Horrible save system
-First time playing through is extremely hard.

The story was much better then I had expected. Capcom keeps the game interesting with many psychotics running around. Most of them are quite funny and add humor to the game. The main story does a good job keeping you curious, you're not sure who is an ally or enemy most of the game. Dead Rising plays through in realtime, you have 72 hours in game, about 6-8 hours our time, to solve the case and escape the mall. Although it is very unlikely you will be able to complete nearly all of the side quests they have in the 72 hour mode.

Saving the survivors is easily the most frustrating part about this game. Even though you can equip them with weapons, they still cant defend themselves or follow you without needing help. The problem is half the time you try to help them you end up huring/killing them in the process. Most of the time I just got the survivors to join my party to get the experience and then let them die. When I think about it the only survivors I was able to save where the injured ones you could carry back.

Boss fights are extremely hard. Most of the time you have to beat them by waiting for them to attack you, then dodge them and attack them. Just about every boss have a very cheap AI that makes them extremely annoying.

Overall this game is great if you like killing hundreds of mindless enemies using just about anything you could think of in a shopping mall. Beside the survivor escorts, boss fights, and save system everything else is solid. Dead Rising isnt a very long game, well worth a rent, but you probably wont get the most out of it unless you beat it 2-3 times.

I really dont like zombie games, I dont think I have ever bought one game that deals with zombies, not silent hill, not resident evil, none of it. I have played silent hill though. I just cant stand some of them because they are cheap and really no story?

I thought the boss fights were really easy. The guns in this game are over rated. The guns really suck. I just ran up to whatever boss and slashed they crap out of em with a katana. i'd usually hold about 4 orange juices n 5 katanas. you could usually get about 3 swings in before they land a hit on you and that takes about a 3rd of there life away. If you don't no where to get the katanas its at the entrance plaza 2nd floor at the antiques shop. its in the back of the shop to the left right across the axes. killin the clown, the cult leader, and the fat cop chick was super easy using the katana. So was that fat chinese butcher.

Dude...just use the Clown's mini-chainsaws after collecting the book in the bookstore (where you find the japanese people) that makes edged weapons last 3x longer! The clown's chainsaw will always respawn where you met him, so just periodically come back to area you fought him and pick it up if its back. Also, try not to use the Katana's if you can get ahold of the bigger sword. The big ones last much longer with that book i mentioned before, and they're alot more powerful. Finally, round out your arsenal with either a shotgun or two or maybe a sniper rifle and you should be set. Also, after you defeat the "Cult" Leader (if you do, that is) pick up that pink book he drops; it makes the people you rescue and have with you not fear death anymore, and they'll more readily attack and defend themselves.

Dead rising , didn't get which people want , I think Graphic that I sew was a bad .

I had downloaded and played the demo version. The file size was huge. More than twice the size of an average demo download. I've found the controls difficult to understand or use. They don't seem to correspond to the command inputs.

It's graphics was pretty good but IMO they can be better.

Sound qulaity is descent.

Storyline - From what I had seen so far it's a poor plot. The objective is too simple, some may even call it obvious - Get out of there alive.

Bottom line - I am giving the demo a 6 out of 10.

I think I will rent the full version soon and see what it may have to offer.

lol if you see the storyline like that simple anygame could have the same simple story.

Lets take Mafia for an example (awesome storyline) but according to your logic its all about killing the mafia and survive.

I'd just spent over three weeks playing this game. The following is my review.

The Good:

Graphics is acceptional but IMO could be much better.
The storyline is decent. I like the off beat conclusions whenever you fail to meet the case file deadlines.

The Bad.

Frankly this game is over rated. My main concern is the poor response to control inputs. I've found it annoying that Otis' calls often come during an attack. It's frustrating when a weapon you're using shifted to a second weapon leaving you open to attacks. It's also quite annoying whenever you pick up an object it become the first in line instead of the back of the list. You have to shuffle the items before you return to the chosen object you were using before the new object was added to the list. There should be a save game and exit option in the pause menu. There's no exit option after you're killed.

The Ugly

Terrible support character interactions. The voice does not come from Frank's mouth. The characters' mouths doesn't move. We are shifted to captions whenever Frank answer a call from Otis. There is no time window for you to take down a psycho. CIP whenever you confront Callico, you can't get close enough to iniitate an attack. You're still vulnerable to attacks even when you drank the Untouchable juice mix.

The verdict.

Overall Dead Rising is a frustrating but addictive game. I am giving this game a 5.5 out of 10.

Just my two point five credit worth.

My best gaming buddy just picked up an xbox 360 recently , with Dead Rising. He loves it. I havent played it yet , but i would take his word for it. For a first game , you could get Condemend. Its a launch game thats come down a bit in price , especially used. Prey is good to. If you dig rpgs , Oblivion is a no brainer.

Sales number would agree with you! It sold 500,000 copies its first 2 weeks! Not bad for a new game series , which , from what i know , had very little , if any , hype prior to launch. Anyways , if any of you havent yet , as im not sure how old this is becasue i just heard about it , Capcom has this survey about dead Rising , which supposedly has to do with them maybe bringing out Dead Rising 2. So go answer the survey if you havent!

I only have this to add;

It is possible, if you stick to a tight schedule, to do all the side quests.

and

The worst thing about the game was the text size, even though the save system sucks.

Duke Nukem 3D wow. I was thinking of that game not too long ago, cant believe you have it up there. It was a fun game...dont know if I could put it on my favorite list of all time though.

I own it, but i'm afraid it'll destroy my 360 because of the rumors about the 2 core/DVD ROM. Stupid maybe, but i shelf so many games i'm not bothered. Rumor is Capcom will release a patch that'll fix it from destroying xbox 360s via HEAT/putting heat streaks on hardware!

Rising is an awesome game. I agree with spandexman in that I also found this really hard on my first play through. (I'm sitting there thinking man I am S**t at this game or what!) It was a relieve to hear that other people have had a similar experience.

HOWEVER, play through once (or quit and re-start at some point with a stronger character) and you will realise that this is an awesome game. The variation and non-linear options on choosing who to save give this a good replay value. Which I will, some day.....

And yes, the small blue chainsaws are the best weapon. With them and the engineering book you will mince the arse of any psychopath you come across.

I played DR at a friends house for about 4-5 hours. It was a blast. I would get a 360 just for that game (well maybe one or two more...)

The game is perfect, but it's HARD !! I don't know what shall I do with the 3 guys in the truck, they either kill me or my survivors, I repeated the level like 10 times then I stopped playing it.

All I can say is the save system is infact aweful as is the AI...other than those annoyances, its a pretty fun game. Oh lastly the time limit sucks! I would rather run around freely killing and completing side missions at my own pace, but thats just me.

Imo if you don't follow the storyline and do the scoops along the game gets repetive.

Just killing zombies forever is no fun (imo).

I agree very good game with few faults. Addicting gameplay, can definetly keep you busy for a while. Greatest feature in a game ever : Being able to throw most of the objects in the game :heart:

that probably is pretty stupid and I think it's totally not true! How can a disc break a console?

this game looks good for xbox 360 im just a bit sad its not coming out for ps3 anyways i guess i will have to use my xbox 360 T_T god i hate it the controller and it never tells you if the controller is in low power it just gets off when your playing i just feel like hiting it lol but oh now anyhow it looks cool the game i love killing stuff this should be fun :)

You never know it may make it out on the PS3. And whats up with the 360 controller? It gives a bit of a flash and then it will pause the game till you put new battery's in. Just have your spare(s) on...

I have only played the demo on my mates X360 the demo was class just messin around with items in the mall lol, I hope that the sequel comes to the PS3 (if they're making one) i think that it's a bit too late for Dead Rising to be released now on the console

the game is good, little things like heating up pans on the stove so you can melt zombies faces are very fun haha
all though i completely agree that the save system is shocking and that the AI are stupid beyond belief.

still worth a buy, 'specially seen as though it costs about £15 now haha

Presentation-8 : Constant loading screens but its not that important
Graphics-10 : Brilliant face models, hundreds of zombies, some of the best animations
Gameplay-10 : Some could complain about the aiming and boss fights but with so many weapons and creative melee combat, i am not complaining. plus satisfying leveling and good vehicles .
Story-9 : Interesting story....Might be a lil comical but since it was a short game with so much to do, it felt like a action movie plot and i always wanted to know wht happens next. Also enjoyed the twists
Lasting appeal-10 : Very few games lets you enjoy the world they put you in..... this one not only lets u do them, but the "annoying " save system lets you level up even in a dummy game.

Over all 9.5 (One of my fav games but i had to reduce scores due to annoying otis and small text on my SDTV)
