Treyarch hasn't ruled out the creation of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, but is remaining coy on whether a direct sequel to last year's smash hit may become a reality.
CoD: Black Ops shattered sales records set by Infinity Ward's CoD: Modern Warfare 2, whilst a third MW game is expected to be announced next month.
However, Treyarch is yet to build its own CoD sub-series, having released CoD: World At War and Black Ops in the last three years. But with the huge success enjoyed by its latest outing, it would appear to make sense for publisher Activision to continue the BLOPS series.
When asked by the latest edition of OXM UK if there would ever be a Black Ops 2, Treyarch community manager Josh Olin replied: "Your guess is as good as mine."
He added: "We're so happy with Black Ops - it was incredible. Everyone hoped it would have this kind of success. We all knew how well MW2 did [in 2009], breaking all entertainment records, so the fact that Black Ops broke through it for a second year in a row and reset that record was incredible. We're still really glad that we hit the ground with the DLC when we finished the game, because we knew we wanted to get it back out there."
US sales monitor NPD announced last month that Call Of Duty: Black Ops had become the best-selling game of all time, shifting 13.7 million units in the States alone.

What you on about? Best COD game so far..much better than Modern Warfare.
See the thing is, it broke records cause it is a COD game not cause it is a Treyarch game. The average gamer doesn't even realise that the game switched developer anymore. It is just the fanboys that cause a fuss.
If slant six made COD it will still brake records and get high ratings.
COD will always sell, even if its an on rail shooter.

Enjoy your copy of a rehashed game.
Lol not even rehashed, Black Ops took out more multiplayer customization then what MW2 had!
Callsigns+emblems were small, but a very nice touch and fun to rock imo, but black ops Callsigns? They all look stupid and not funny/referencing stuff like MW2 did. It's small I know, but it was an enjoyment to unlock all those little things :).
The weapon customization in MW2, yes Akimbo shotguns as a secondary might be a bit over the top... But hey, it was fun as hell to rock the 1887's, y'just feel badass. Besides a few perks that most people agree shouldn't be there to begin with, which I agree too, MW2 was a much better game then Black Ops. Even from the maps, a lot more fun, sniping was a lot more fun!
Everything about MW2 was just.... more fun!
And if anything MW2 wasn't a rehash, it was another shooter, yes, but they added quite a lot to the mix imo :).

Really don't know how a game that bad managed to set records in sales. Unbelievable...

Bit late for April Fools...MW2 was just broken..most that stuff was removed from Black Ops for a reason.
To be honest Black Ops was the 1st COD game that went back on my games shelf after only a month. Just didn't do it for me although i loved the campaign.
If Black Ops wasn't unplable for some people, it would be the best COD to date...it is for me though.
I can't play the game unless I keep my search preference to "Local Only". Which means, it finds games that are in my area...which means, I barely get lag. It's still more lag than I'm used to...I'll get it once in a while but it's not nearly as big a game-breaker as it is if you keep the search preference to "Default"...it doesn't find the best connection that way.
It's the only game where I had to change some options around to actually be able to play the game but whatever you know, I'm just really enjoying the SMG selection they have in the game. Best by far in any game I've ever played.
MW2 did a great job with weapons (except M203 or launchers) but Black Ops just perfected it.
Most people don't give guns any notice because they play COD with respawns on, you won't notice the nitty gritty details that they put in there if you play respawn games. It's too hectic, too distracting.
COD series has by far the best guns I have ever seen in any shooter, EVER. Not their sound, not the way they look either, I'm strictly speaking about gun mechanics. They're far better than anything else out there. Every gun has a different purpose...every gun shoots differently in certain situations.
The details are enormous. If you don't see all of this, you won't ever appreciate the game. People look at this series and judge it from either what they hear about it or whatever few games they played on it or if they did play it a lot, they were probably playing respawn modes or they don't know how to understand shooters...I just can't see it any other way.
If you like to practice with guns, this is practically, ironically, the GT5 of shooting games. I know, that award should goto BC2 but BC2 just does not have enough variety of guns and the way they shoot are, albiet, slightly more realistic than Black Ops but they aren't that different from one another (variety).
Note: I'm not saying COD has the most realistic gun mechanics ever, I'm saying, it has the most varied mechanics ever. There's a gun for every single situation. No single gun is alike. And I love that about this game. If you don't notice the difference in guns, play with it for a week and then switch, you will see it. Try it out in practice mode, shoot the gun in different kinds of scenarios (room-clearing, rushing, strafing, spraying, run-n-gun, standing still etc.) All SMGs perform differently in all of those situations.
I can make a big ****ing book on just SMGs...that's how deep this mother****ing game is. If you guys don't understand this, don't call it a rehash, they know what they're doing.
Again, if it weren't for the connection problems, I think it deserves all the sales it has gotten. SOCOM 4 has nothing on this game.

I love how it didn't have all the Noob tubing and Camping IMO but it lacked the fun factor that Mw2 had.

Have you lived in a shell. Have you not read the issues with the game? Only fanboys retaliate with a fanboy comment. And if people weren't fanboys, they wouldn't buy the game. Your argument is stupid.

I'm finding myself lose my interest in the series altogether. After reading Sufi's post, though, I am considering that Call of Duty is a bit better than I've recently given it credit for.
I liked Black Ops, and I loved the setting of it. The first mission that takes place in Vietnam (when you're dropped off by a helicopter) is quite enjoyable, and just has a really nice feel to it. I also think a sequel would be great in terms of the story, which ended in quite a dramatic way. That leaves plenty of room for more to occur. What worries me is the time period. A direct sequel would have to take place in Vietnam again (or somewhere near), because there are no other wars relatively close in history that would make any sense for it to take place during.
After several repetitions of World War II titles, I'm not looking forward to Treyarch making multiple titles in the same setting. Moreover, I don't feel that, with this setting, a sub-series could be created like with Modern Warfare.
There could be some things I'm overlooking, in fact I'm sure there is, but that's my first thoughts on a sequel. It would work in every way except for the time period, which to me is too restrictive.
Me too, and the next years also :)
Yeppers. I have to buy two copies though. One for me, and one for my son.
I'm not one to hate on a series, I'm really not, but reading about how these guys want to continue this series actually makes me nauseated.
Black Ops 2? I doubt it will be any more successful than Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops .. Even though Cod4 is far better than any FPS will ever be imo.

I have read about the "issues"..I do not suffer the issues, therefore they don't apply to me. Don't call me a fanboy you dick.
